The Cris Cab Collection

This beautiful weather in Orono, Maine has everyone crawling out of their fraternity houses, apartments, and dorms.  With finals week drawing near, the poor academic souls are tucked away deep behind the stacks in Fogler Library.  Whether you are studying or soaking up the sun, everyone is in search of that perfect summertime song. 

While, I cannot offer you one perfect song, how about sixteen? Enjoy and download the tracks below by Cris Cab, a 19 year-old musician and singer from Miami.  Within two years of graduating high school he booked a tour with T-Pain and Gym Class Heroes and then collaborated on tracks with Wyclef Jean, Shaggy, OAR, and Pharrell Williams.  Cab's Cuban background combined with his travels to the Bahamas influenced his music, giving it that reggae feel. Spotlight: Frank Ocean

Frank Ocean, born Christopher “Lonny” Breaux, is a 24 year-old American singer-songwriter from New Orleans, Louisiana.  In August of 2005, Ocean was evacuated from the University of New Orleans to Los Angeles, California due to Hurricane Katrina.  He decided to stay there to pursue his music career, and at the end of 2010, he met an LA-based hip-hop collective called OFWGKTA through mutual friends.  Since the release of his debut mixtape "Nostalgia, Ultra" in 2011, Ocean's name has been growing in the R&B industry.  Having written songs for Justin Bieber, John Legend, and Beyonce Knowles, it is safe to say we can expect great things from this new kid on the block.  Jonah Weiner, of Rolling Stone magazine, called Ocean a "gifted avant-R&B smoothie." See for yourself and listen below to Ocean's unreleased track "PDA."

Tommy Trash

                                  This Australian-born DJ/producer is a classically trained musician and composer. Growing up, he spent his weekends raving at Brisbane's Monastery Club, where he was first introduced to house music. Although Trash has only been on the DJ scene for five years, he is a remixing machine. Many refer to him as dance music's rising star. Bringing clubbers together in true rock concert fashion, Tommy Trash is currently blowing up speakers across the U.S. on his first headline tour.
