Presenting the fifth (and possibly final) instalment of Captain Kinky and the Winter Submissive - with a special mention to the person who commented on part four the other day and unwittingly provided me with the motivation I needed to actually get this finished.
The Captain And His Dog
When your new husband gets you a collar and leash as a wedding present, the first scene of the honeymoon does become fairly inevitable…

I actually saw someone mention the CA:CW jump scare in the new Thunderbolts trailer and it still shocked the fuck out of me.
Why is Steve there? Why did they use that clip? It didn't even make sense in the context of the voice over. What the fuck is going on?

Why are closing sentences so hard?
The fic is done, it's finished, I love everything about it*, I give it one last read through to check I haven't missed any typos**, I reach the final paragraph and I figure it's ok, maybe not my best, but it rounds things off well enough, except, of course, for that last sentence, which is just hanging there awkwardly; an unsatisfyingly loose end, even though there's nothing further to say.
I rewrite it.
I rewrite it again.
I rewrite the whole paragraph.
I add a chapter.
I still can't find a suitable closing sentence.
I set everything and then myself on fire and swear I'll never write anything ever again.
I rewrite it.
*if I squint a bit and don't think too hard about any of it
**apart from all the ones I actually have missed despite multiple read throughs, and which I won't notice until I reread it in a few years time

I'm at my parents and my mum asked me to help my dad with something. Fine, great, happy to. Trouble is, she asked by saying 'Can you get [item] for Daddy?'
Now, a few years ago, I wouldn't have batted an eyelid, and to be fair I still address my mum as 'mummy' on all the cards I send her, and their shared email address is saved in my phone under 'mummy & daddy'.
But now I write Daddy kink.
And it sounded so fucking wrong.
Except, obviously I can't say anything to them because they don't know that I write it, so I thought I'd vent here instead 😂🫣💀

the day people stop dropping brain dead john walker (mcu) takes is the day i will finally know peace
like he’s such a morally complex and interesting character who was a perfect narrative foil to sam and the long-standing arc of what it means to pick up that shield and be captain america. he perfectly displays the sentiment we got back in the first captain america movie “not a great soldier, but a good man”. the us government picks a great soldier, the greatest one they have available. they do not understand that being captain america is so much more than that. a guy like john walker thrives in the morally grey environments of war but you make him the beacon of morality and goodness that is captain america and he crumbles. he was not made for it. the us military made him into a soldier, a weapon, and asked him to be something else. he acts the way that a soldier acts, does what a soldier would do, but captain america was never supposed to be a soldier, so he fucks up and makes the wrong decisions at almost every turn. he’s doing his best but he wasn’t built for this so it isn’t enough
his character is also such a good commentary on the us military, how the government asks terrible and life ruining things of its soldiers and then leaves them behind at its earliest convenience.
like john walker is the definition of “i am what you made me”. they made him exactly who he is, he lived his life by their mandates, he did everything they ever asked of him, and it wasn’t enough because they asked him to do something he could never do, stop being a soldier

I really want to post a new fic. It's nearly done, pending a final read through, only every time I sit down to do it either my brain flat out rebels and refuses to concentrate at all, or I manage to rework a chapter only to decide I'm still not happy with it... which means I'll have to come back and do it again later, so I'm back to square one.
And the trouble is, I've been working on this fic on and off for half a decade, so the main reason I'm unhappy with it is because I wrote most of it several years ago and my writing has improved sufficiently since then that I no longer think it's good enough. But, at the same time, I'm not exactly going to start from scratch either.
So, in conclusion, help.
