SEVENTEEN SPOTIFY DISCOGRAPHY PLAYLIST
I made a playlist that has most of seventeen's songs! It mainly follows their Korean albums, meaning that there will be no repeats of songs and Japanese versions of the songs. The playlist is currently updated and is organized from oldest to newest release, then osts, and then most of their solo works. Their solo works are in age order!
Again not every song available on spotify is in this playlist, but it at least has all of their Korean albums along with Japanese title tracks in order! Feel free to follow if interested!!

Is SEVENTEEN Worth Seeing Live?
Short answer: Absolutely.
Am I going to sound biased? Probably. But I fully believe that even if someone who was not into K-pop went to a Seventeen concert, they would enjoy themselves. Seventeen has amazing energy and you can truly see their passion of performing and of their music. Seventeen is at a place in their career that we have seen other groups stop trying as they know they have a strong fanbase, but Seventeen continues to put their all into everything that they do. They sing very well live and not to mention they are dancing while doing so.
Most people who follow kpop know that or have heard that Seventeen is considered one of the most synchronized groups in regard to their dances. Let me remind you that there are 13 of them and yet they all move as one. Seeing them dance is very satisfying and you know you will get a great performance from them.
Their dance and performance is a big reason why I got into them in the first place. I have really big respect for those who look like they enjoy performing and you can really tell that all of them love what they do.
As I said in my first post, I was lucky enough to get to see Seventeen twice. I saw them at K-Con NY 2019 and then their Be the Sun Tour last year in Newark. For K-Con unfortunately Seungkwan was not there, so the Be the Sun Tour was when I was able to see all thirteen of them! Again, I find myself very lucky because some members were getting Covid-19 but they were all able to perform at their last stop in the United States.
When I tell you my jaw was just dropped the whole time for the concert... yeah. Literally speechless. Their energy and passion just shines and it was so shocking to me that I was just in the same space as them though far away. It was so hard for me not to scream the whole time as I hate the sound of my voice and would rather not hear myself with the many videos that I took.
Seventeen is a group that I would 100% see again. I would even consider getting a closer seat as they do great fan interaction throughout the show.
To sign off this post, I have added some of my concert pictures and a video of part of their opening song!

The Basics of the Seventeen Members!
This post is here to serve as a quick guide about each of the members!
Representative Emoji for Carats: 💎
S.Coups
Tumblr media
His stage name, S.Coups, stands for Seventeen having success over their rivals. The "S" can stand for both his name and Seventeen and "Coups" is taken from the term "coup d'etat"!
Birth Name: Choi Seungcheol
Position: Leader, Hip-Hop Team Leader, Rapper, Sub Vocalist
Birthday: August 8, 1995
Sub-Unit: Hip-Hop Team, SVT Leaders
Representative Emoji: 🍒 (Korean carats often use the nickname Cheolli, which sounds similar to cherry)
I have a lot of respect for S.Coups. Without his hard work Seventeen would not be where they are today. He made sure the group would not be pushed over and continuously stands up for what is best for the group.
Jeonghan
Tumblr media
Birth Name: Yoon Jeonghan
Position: Lead Vocalist, Visual
Birthday: October 4, 1995
Sub-Unit: Vocal Team
Representative Emoji: 😇 (his birthday date, 10/04, sounds similar to angel)
Contrary to his representative emoji, Jeonghan is actually very mischievous. Seventeen has their own variety show on YouTube called Going Seventeen and you can see him either cheating or poking fun at the members a lot.
Joshua
Tumblr media
Birth Name: Joshua Hong (the only reason why his first name is first is because he is from LA) His Korean name is Hong Jisoo.
Position: Lead Vocalist, Visual
Birthday: December 30, 1995
Sub-Unit: Vocal Team
Representative Emoji: 🐰 or 🦌 (based on his visuals)
Joshua is usually described as a gentleman and you will probably hear him talk most during English interviews as him and Vernon take lead with those.
Jun
Tumblr media
Birth Name: Wen Junhui (Jun is from China- his Korean name is Moon Jun Hwi)
Position: Lead Dancer, Vocalist
Birthday: June 10, 1996
Sub-Unit: Performance Team
Representative Emoji: 🐱 (fans think he resembles ones and he likes them!)
Jun was a child actor! There is a popular meme of him during that time.
Hoshi
Tumblr media
His stage name, Hoshi, is short for the Korean phrase "Horangi-ui Siseon" which means "a tiger's gaze."
Birth Name: Kwon Soonyoung
Position: Performance Team Leader, Main Dancer, Lead Vocalist, Sub Rapper
Birthday: June 15, 1996
Sub-Unit: Performance Team, SVT Leaders, BooSeokSoon
Representative Emoji: 🐯 (he loves tigers... horanghae!) Some also compare him to a hamster and use 🐹 but he will fight you if you say that to his face.
Hoshi is convinced that he is a tiger,,
Wonwoo
Tumblr media
Birth Name: Jeon Wonwoo
Position: Rapper, Sub Vocalist
Birthday: July 17, 1996
Sub-Unit: Hip-Hop Team
Representative Emoji: 😼 (he likes cats too)
Wonwoo is actually very blind, so you will probably see him with glasses on (unlike the gif I chose haha).
Woozi
Tumblr media
WOOAHAE
His stage name, Woozi, came from a phrase "Uri Jihoon" or "our Jihoon" which the company staff and members call him by. Woozi is a condensed version of the phrase, taking the "U" and "Ji."
Birth Name: Lee Jihoon
Position: Vocal Team Leader, Lead Vocalist, Producer
Birthday: November 22, 1996
Sub-Unit: Vocal Team, SVT Leaders
Representative Emoji: 🍚 (he LOVES rice haha)
I stated this many times, but Woozi does create majority of Seventeen's discography. He is also the shortest member of Seventeen (he's 5'5"). Short King.
DK
Tumblr media
His stage name, DK, or Dokyeom, creates a phrase that means "to be a multitasker in various fields."
Birth Name: Lee Seokmin
Position: Main Vocalist
Birthday: February 18, 1997
Sub-Unit: Vocal Team, BooSeokSoon (Leader)
Representative Emoji: ⚔️ (he starred in a musical, Xcalibur, as the lead role of King Arthur) Some also use 🍕 because he likes pizza and stated a lot when they promoted on American interviews.
Along with Seungkwan, DK is the main vocalist meaning that you will probably hear his voice during the chorus of the song or doing the high notes!
Mingyu
Tumblr media
Birth Name: Kim Mingyu
Position: Rapper, Sub Vocalist, Visual, Face of the Group
Birthday: April 6, 1997
Sub-Unit: Hip-Hop Team
Representative Emoji: 🐶 (fans think he resembles a puppy)
Mingyu is the tallest member of SVT at 6'2"! He is also very clumsy.
The8
Tumblr media
His stage name, The8, brings luck as the number 8 is a lucky number in Chinese culture. When turned to the side, it becomes an infinity symbol and you may see him post like that from time to time!
Birth Name: Xu Minghao (He is from China- his Korean name is Seo Myungho)
Position: Lead Dancer, Vocalist, Sub Rapper
Birthday: November 7, 1997
Sub-Unit: Performance Team
Representative Emoji: 🐸 (he likes Kermit the frog)
The8 can do martial arts tricking! He also enjoys performing tea ceremonies.
Seungkwan
Tumblr media
Birth Name: Boo Seungkwan
Position: Main Vocalist, Face of the Group
Birthday: January 16, 1998
Sub-Unit: Vocal Team, BooSeokSoon
Representative Emoji: 🍊 (Jeju is known for their tangerines and Seungkwan is from Jeju!)
Seungkwan has been seen on many variety shows and he even has won awards for Best Male Idol Entertainer!
Vernon
Tumblr media
He goes by his American name rather than his Korean one.
Birth Name: Hansol Vernon Chwe (His first name is at the front because he was born in New York)
Position: Rapper, Sub Vocalist, Visual, Face of the Group
Birthday: February 18, 1998
Sub-Unit: Hip-Hop Team
Representative Emoji: 🐢 (because of calm and chill personality)
Vernon has some of the best reactions, in fact, it is hard for him to hide how he is thinking and will show it on his face often.
Dino
Tumblr media
His stage name, Dino, is short for dinosaur but is pronounced "Dee-No"! He wants to be a dinosaur that dominates the stage!
Birth Name: Lee Chan
Position: Main Dancer, Vocalist, Rapper, Maknae (youngest!)
Birthday: February 11, 1999
Sub-Unit: Performance Team
Representative Emoji: 🦖 (for obvious reasons) but also fans use 🦦 (which I prefer) because fans think he resembles a sea otter!
Dino has a series on YouTube called Dino's Danceology where he posts his own choreography! His laugh is also very contagious.

The Basics of Seventeen
SEVENTEEN (세븐틴) is a South Korean pop boy group consisting of 13 members. From their official lineup, the order of the members are S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, The8, Mingyu, DK, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino. This order almost goes by oldest to youngest, but DK switched his spot with The8 as The8 wanted to be the number that matches his name.
Tumblr media
Yes, they were originally set to debut with 17 members, but four either left the company or withdrew beforehand. How they promote their group now to meet the 17 quota is that they have 13 members, 3 teams, and they are 1 group overall so 13 + 3 + 1 = 17. Seventeen has three teams/units/groups as subunits within the group which include Hip Hop, Vocal, and Performance. Hip Hop focuses on rapping, Vocal focuses on singing, and Performance focuses on dancing. I will be saying a little more about each individual member in another post, so look out for which team they are a part of!
Seventeen is under Pledis Entertainment, which is now a part of HYBE Labels (a company that helps many other K-pop companies and is most notably known to be the company BTS is under). They debuted on May 26, 2015, with the title track, "Adore U" and mini album "17 Carat."
What sets Seventeen apart from other K-pop groups is that they are self-producing. This means that take charge of producing and creating SEVENTEEN's music, choreographies, lyrics, and more. Woozi plays a significant role in their music, as he is involved with almost all of their discography.
Tumblr media
(This GIF was from his old studio.)
Here is other important basic information about them!
The name can be shortened to SVT
Fandom Name: Carat (a fun fact is that Carat's birthday is on Valentine's Day!)
Official Colors: Rose Quartz and Serenity
Introduction: "Say the Name, Seventeen!"
This is a picture of their lightstick (ver. 2!), which is used to show support to the group and is seen at concerts!
Tumblr media
That's all for this post! Look out for the next one where we will cover and learn more about the members!

Before We Start...
Here are some terms that are regularly used in the K-pop community that I probably will use in the posts (or have already!):
Stan: to like a particular artist/group. For example I stan Seventeen (I like the group, Seventeen!)
Ult: short for ultimate; groups that one really likes (favorite groups in short) and follows the most. For example, I do ult Seventeen, so I keep up with their music, social media posts, variety shows, and interviews, and also know random facts about them.
Bias: the member in the group you like the most
Debut: the first song the group released
Comeback: a term used when they release a new song or album
Title Track: the highlighted song for the album. It tends to be the song they promote the most, and it has a music video to accompany it.
Maknae: the youngest in the group
Leader: most K-pop bands have a designated “leader” who acts as the main spokesperson for the group
There are more, but these are the ones I find the most important to understand. You can always let me know if you would like me to clarify anything!

Introduction!
Hello to my ENG-317 (or to whoever stumbles across this),
My name is Jackie (she/they) and this post is to explain why I am here in the first place. For a semester-long assignment for my digital writing class, we are tasked to keep up with a blog about any subject to our liking. Lately, I have been on top of sharing the Seventeen agenda with all my friends, so why not expand it to my class as well? This blog will consist of basic information about Seventeen along with maybe some dance analysis videos later on, my concert experience, and my experience being a new collector for them.
Here is some information about me in the meantime! (some terms mentioned below will be explained in another post!):
Though I have heard of Seventeen since their debut and followed them for their title tracks only, I would say I became a Carat back in 2017 (how fitting haha) when "Don't Wanna Cry" was released. I am grateful that I saw them live twice - once for KCon New York 2019 and September 6th, 2022 for their "Face the Sun" concert. My biases in the group are Woozi and Dino, and my favorite unit would be the Performance team because I personally enjoy their songs the most! My favorite Seventeen song from their whole discography is "Good to Me," but my most listened-to song (according to Spotify) of last year was "Wave" (LOL). My favorite title track of theirs would be "Ready to Love" and my favorite choreography would be "THANKS." Also, as of last year, I have been trying to collect all of their albums (RIP my bank account TT).
I have been into K-pop since 2015 because my brother introduced me to the genre. The first few groups that I started following were Crayon Pop and Got7! I really enjoy the genre due to the fact that they have great choreography for the songs. The groups that I say I follow the most (like Seventeen and Got7) I like them because of their team dynamic and that they feel like a family.
Thank you for reading and getting to know me! To sign off here is a video I took from the concert! It is Dino and Woozi's part in "Snap Shoot!" :D
