Library Services

Many students know the library, which is a free service with your enrollment, as a quiet area to study or work on assignments. On top of that, everybody knows there’s a ton of reading material that you can check out. The OneSearch function on their website offers a great and easy way to find anything you might need.
But did you know the library also offers other services, like renting study spaces? Or borrowing equipment like laptops, cameras, gear for presentations, charging cables and more? How about booking a tutor, printing services, or all kinds of different workshops that the library has to offer? There are a ton of different services available to you through the library that you might not think of at first glance.
All info can be found on their website.
Their normal hours are 7:45am – 8:00pm Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, then from 7:45am – 5:00pm on Thursday and Fridays. They are located between A and C building; coming from the bus loop, take the left side down the stairs and pass the seating area, towards the North gym.
If you have any concerns, you can contact them through their website in their “Ask us” link in the bottom right of the screen, or at askus@ rrclibrary.libanswers.com

Career Services

The Career Services, situated in building D room 202, is a super helpful resource for finding employment during, or after your enrollment. The Career Bridge on their website can be used to search for job postings, directly from employers looking to hire RRC students or alumni. It can also be used to keep track of your applications, helping you with the application process, or scheduling interviews.
You can also access opportunities for work-integrated learning, which helps students get on the job training in their field, letting you learn to apply the knowledge gained during your classes in the work setting. There is also a news tab on their website to keep you updated on different events that could prove useful to your search.
For questions or help with anything related to Career Services, you can contact them through the form on their website.

Counselling Services

One of the best services built into your tuition at the college is the counselling services. They call the main one “short term”, but my own counsellor let me know you could continue as long as you’re enrolled. All you need to do is fill out the intake form, they’ll call or email you with an appointment, and you can connect with your counsellor and figure out your goals and plan with them!
Another option if you have a quick issue you’d like an outside perspective on, is drop in counselling. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, show up to D1-02 at 1pm (it’s first come first serve).
If you’re having a crisis, there are same-day crises services as well, but they also can connect you to free outside resources. REMEMBER – if you’re seriously thinking about harming yourself or others, reach out to the Mobile Crisis Unit (204-940-1781) or go to the Crisis Response Centre (817 Bannatyne Avenue).
Finally, for general well-being, check out the resources on the webpage. They have a lot of good, free information. It’s important to advocate for yourself and always look to improve. The best students keep their mental health as a priority.
