The importance of the eyebrow shape is hard to overestimate. I'd dare to say that the right eyebrows shape is like 50% of faceup success. It's the feature through which you control the facial expression of your doll. You can change expression from joyful or serene to grim or evil just using a different eyebrows shape. It's especially important if you're working on a realistic BJDs made after real persons. While the lip and eyes shape is already defined in the mold itself, the eyebrows can be painted multiple ways. So the faceup artist needs a sharp eye to catch exactly the shape that pulls out the character. This includes: - overall shape of the eyebrow, - hair growth direction, - hair density at the various parts of the eyebrow. I drew a lot of eyebrows in my life and can point out several factors that influence the eyebrow growth: - gender, - age, - ethnicity, - grooming according to fashion. What can you say about the girl you see on the photos? What her facial expression is? Her mood? Her vibe?

She's finally finished! Custom doll of Galoo from Wendy Lian Martin's Castle Swimmer (on webtoons). I started making her immediately after Galoo's first appearance in the comic because I was so enamored with merseaslug. I love nudibranches....

This was literally my only reference for a long time lmaooo (me trying to figure out how many legs she has...)

This Galoo is the top half of a Cave Club doll (I think she was Roaralai?) and the bottom half is wire, fabric from the scrap drawer, and some faux fur I've had since I was a teenager. (It's not the best, but true to the themes of ocean preservation in Castle Swimmer, I wanted to reduce reuse recycle for this project!!) The body was the first thing I finished two years ago, so the reveal of her little paw pads were a last minute and delightful addition.

she has an openable & removable jaw for character accuracy reasons, and the mouth has teeth and an articulated tongue. also "articulated tongue" is not a phrase i never thought i would type.

this was my main reference, but largely i just did my own thing within the spirit of the design. she is also an old character, and i have years or my partner's art to be inspired by. this is one possible configuration of her ever-changing cyborg parts. the doll was a gift, originally meant for a birthday long past but only finished now, as a not-any-day-in-particular present.

I impulse bought a Unoss Seina and I love her SO MUCH!!! I plan to paint her robo-parts still, but I'm so happy with how her new faceup looks so far. Every wig I've tried on her looks good, and she came with her original outfit and accessories which I am actually very into.

Maybe I was just so jealous of @dollsonmain 's recent Unoss acquisition I had to jump on the opportunity to get one too <3 Maybe one day I will get the opportunity to paint one with the original sculpted lashes... B)

I’ve been wanting to try some vintage Mod Barbie clothes on my Modern Circle Barbies since they used the vintage Mod Barbie face sculpts for these dolls - and they look very cute in the Mod style (also, this was the first time I removed their stock outfits and discovered that there legs are strung on elastic, which I don’t think I’ve seen on any other Barbies before?):
