merry christmas @dailyacademic​!!! you mentioned you like christmas cookies as much as i do, so as a present i thought i would translate my favorite recipe! it’s a typical german recipe and while being a bit of work super worth it!! i hope you like them <3

ingredients:

for the dough: 300g white flour 100g grounded almonds  150g powdered sugar a pinch of salt 8g vanilla sugar 1 tsp grated lemon peel (the organic ones) 200g butter 1 egg

later: flour to dust the work surface 100g strawberry jelly & 100g redcurrant jelly powdered sugar for dusting 

instructions:

sift the flour into a bowl and add the almonds, powdered sugar, salt, vanilla sugar and lemon peel 

add the room-temperature butter in flakes and the egg 

mix everything with a dough hook or your hands (hands are more fun hehe)

form the dough into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap and put it into the fridge for 2 hrs 

cover the baking tray with baking paper (you can take two if you have two or just bake multiple times) 

pre-heat the oven (circulating air: 160°C, top and bottom heat: 180°C) 

cover your work surface with flour so the dough won’t stick, roll out a portion of the dough and cut out the cookies (either a round form or stars) 

 every 2nd cookie needs a small hole in the middle (i use an apple corer for that but you could also use the cap of a pen etc.) 

put the cookies on the tray and bake them for 10-12 mins (till they’re a pale yellow) 

mix the jellies with a whisk 

put the jelly in the middle of the hot cookies without a hole and put one with a hole on top 

wait till the cookies are cooled down and dust them with powdered sugar 

enjoy!
