Hey guys, so I’ve seen some posts around about daily routines so I thought I’d share my own. I consider myself to be great at being productive even early in the morning, and here’s how I achieve that. Hope this is helpful, and feel free to ask me questions if you have any!

Declutter Your Life
Tumblr media
I’ve resolved that every Wednesday, I will write a masterpost about self care and living clean and happy lifestyles. Mainly because my blog is devoted to that too, besides being a studyblr, but I hardly ever post original content about it, so hereeee we go. :)
Plan first
Make a list of areas you want to tackle
Or items you want to go through
Set how long you’ll clean
And a little reward for yourself when you’ve reached that goal
Envision what you want your space to look like at the end
Set aside three baskets or areas: one for things to keep, one for things to trash, and one for things to donate/sell
House
There are just some ideas of things to get rid of or pare down. Feel free to add your own. :)
Bedroom
unnecessary pillows on your bed or extra blankets
monsters under your bed
chargers, wires, etc. that go to devices you don’t have anymore or that are broken
old devices, phones, ipods
books you felt kinda eh about while reading them
copies of books or CDs
old notebooks
sticky notes that have lost their stickiness
broken pencils
markers that have dried up
any art supply you don’t use
scrap paper that’s gotten too small
scrap yarn that’s gotten too small
old art projects
unfinished art projects
papers
candles w/o any smell
Scentsy-type stuff w/o any smell
Closet
clothes that don’t fit
all of those clothes you save for your “ugly days”
shoes that hurt that you don’t even like the looks of
underwear with holes (or blood stains - ya feel me, girls?)
socks without a matching pair
socks with holes
bras that are even looking tired
copies of clothes, like multiple white t-shirts
jewelry you don’t wear
childish jewelry
broken jewelry
Bathroom
hygiene products past their expiration date
faded towels
bottles with only a few drops of product left
worn out toothbrushes
hairbands that have lost their elasticity
congealed nail polish
makeup you regret buying
Digital Life
Social Media
Unfollow people, be merciless, make your social media a place of positivity
unfriend toxic people (see the next section)
go through your own posts and delete anything you regret posting
take social media breaks
Computer
upload all of your photos to Google photos or flickr or photobucket or onedrive or whatever, or even a CD, then delete them from your memory
also back up important documents or just things you want to keep to something else and delete them on your computer
go through and sort everything into files
delete any programs you don’t use
Phone
clean out your pictures, upload them to cloud or whatever
delete all of the apps you don’t use or need
go through your contacts and delete the people you don’t want to contact anymore
delete old text message conversations
give yourself a new background too, something clean and simple
Relationships
Get rid of those people who are toxic in your life, mute notifications from them, unfollow them on social media (you can unfollow someone one facebook without unfriending them), don’t answer them often
make an effort to interact with people face-to-face rather than through text or the internet
decide who you want to actively invest your energy in
School
make a study schedule
prioritize your schedule – study the hardest subjects the most
remember that grades are important
also remember that grades aren’t everything
(pls don’t fire me from being a studyblr)
if you can’t get everything you need to do done in 24 hours without sacrificing 8 hours of sleep and a bit of time for yourself, then you’re doing too much
Best tip to stay decluttered: Learn to say no.

hELLO lovelies, it’s taylor and I just survived finals, 2 of which I gave while I was sick. while I was sick, I decided to make my own masterpost on surviving exams without having to take on coffee and aspirin every hour and now I’m finally done with it! hope this helps :’)
I’m going to list down a huge list of tips, categorized into certain categories - and let’s begin!
general health –
get enough sleep, your body is already tired bc of being sick so it is important to rest, a lot.  Try to get at least 8-10 hours of sleep.
TAKE!! YOUR!! MEDS!! If you’re like me, and you keep forgetting when to take meds, set alarms for it!! It is super important to take your meds at the right time, so that you get well fast!
shower. I know you don’t feel like it, but it helps trust me. It will wash of germs and also cool down your body if you’re down with fever. (also, bc hey personal hygiene)
exercise! yep, I mean it. Being down sick make your mind sluggish and foggy, so it is essential you do some light exercises to stay awake.
eating and drinking -
eat proper food. by this I mean a healthy diet, which is self explanatory by itself.
drink fricking water!! stay hydrated!! set alarms again, if you keep forgetting to drink and also keep a water bottle by the table.
workout -
dont do any hard core, intense training. instead go for light exercises, yoga and dance workouts. here’s some small workouts that you can try out -
a 5 minute yoga session
the famous 7 minute workout
a 10 minute cardio dance workout
but it is important that you do workout (tip 4 of general health) so just do it for god’s sake.
studying -
prioritize, lets be real no one wants to study for 10 hours with a bad headache.
use the pomodoro technique, this is for real going to save your life.
listen to audio lectures! this especially helps if you’re a auditory learner + plus, listening is much easier than studying out of a textbook and not understanding anything.
dont study for long stretches, it just sucks and it hurts your head.
try focusing a little more on the exam styles and techniques, but still put emphasis on memorizing the content bc hey, its for the exams and you have to know the stuff.
do NOT cram, the info just isn’t going to remain in your brain. instead, try understanding the concept, so that you can answer in your own words.
leave your phone alone; study, just study in that little time you’re actually studying.
enjoy the time you’re studying. you make it harder to study if you’re just dreading the look of your textbooks.
Check out my other masterposts ->
how to : study better not just harder
how to : enjoy what you’re studying

What to do when you’re stuck with a lazy group? I’m with two guys and we still haven’t chosen a topic. We have to present in two weeks. Nobody replies to my messages and both left after class this week. I just wanted to choose a topic and leave!!!! So I booked a study room today and they all made excuses. Ugh. I’m gonna be the one who’s doing all the work. This is worth 40% of our grade. Same as the exam. FML
Hi there, thank you for asking, as this is a super common problem in high school, university and the workplace! I’ve never seen this question answered in depth on studyblr, so I’ll give it a go!
NB. It depends on your personality as to the approach you want to take, so let everyone who’s reading this not pass judgement upon others in such a situation~ Remember in all of this to be polite, understanding and gracious no matter how much you want to flip tables. The following 5 Options go in order of how many bridges you want to burn :’)
Option 0. Wait for a bit longer and try communicating with them again.
I have seen a similar question asked once on tumblr where the studyblr blogger answered “two weeks is plenty of time, you’re probably over-reacting”… Obviously, I’m not going to trivialise your answer by giving you just one option like that - I frankly thought that studyblr was quite rude for answering so shortly to someone who took the time to ask them a question.
How to do it: The way you communicate with them now might not be effective, so make sure that you’re ticking off the following boxes if you choose this option, rather than just letting nothing change: meeting face to face, setting mini-deadlines for each part instead of just allocating once at the beginning, and make sure each member knows what and when they have to complete something.
This option is best suited for people who:
really don’t want to create a commotion and would rather wait a little longer and reduce the time available for them to do the project,
or people who would answer ‘Strongly Disagree’ to “Being organized is more important to you than being adaptable“ and “In a discussion, truth should be more important than people’s sensitivities.” in a personality quiz (a strong prognostic factor for Option 1 tbh),
or people who know they can tackle everything in less than 1 week,
or people who just realised/kind of know they’re actually overreacting,
or have just realised whilst reading this that maybe they didn’t actually try contacting the other group members all that well (i.e. don’t have enough evidence for Option 3).
Pros:
Nobody gets angry at anyone, and it doesn’t reflect badly on you either (because no one finds out if you don’t say anything - people tend to be judgemental if you pick one of the three options below).
Less stressful for some people than confrontation.
You might get eventual cooperation.
Cons:
You might not get eventual cooperation, and end up being stuck with all the work anyway (hence resulting in options below).
More stressful for other people as you feel time is ticking away and nothing is changing.
The time you spend waiting for the others will result in less time for you to tackle all the actual work.
Pro-tip: doing as much individual work as possible sometimes will egg those team members to finally start pulling their weight, or can help you with Option 3 if you do end up going for it.
Option 1. You make all the decisions and do all the work.
Best suited for people who: are academically gifted, like doing work independently, have excellent time management skills.
Pros:
You can ensure the quality of the work will be excellent.
You get to choose what topic to do and direct the overall project turnout.
No one hates you for anything, but NB. your friends and family relationships that suffer as a result of the time you have to sacrifice might not have anything pleasant to say about it all.
Cons:
You need an extraordinary amount of time.
The other people in the group get a free ride and in nastier words, some would say you get taken advantage of for your goodwill.
Lack of group opinion may make the quality of your work suffer.
Other subjects you’re taking may suffer.
Option 2. Badger the other group members until they do some work.
Best suited for people who: don’t want to be stuck with Option 1, but don’t want to escalate to Option 3. Give them an ultimatum about the work, or just decide the topic by yourself if they don’t step up.
Pros:
Very similar to Option 0 in that you wait a bit longer before taking drastic action, so you might get eventual cooperation, and you don’t bother your professor.
Cons:
You stress yourself out badgering other people.
Other group members get annoyed at you, and your classmates that happen to watch you badgering have a not-so-great impression of you.
Option 3. Document a significant amount of evidence that shows your effort to get them to contribute and contact the professor about it.
Best suited for people who: would like to do things independently but just cannot afford the time because of other commitments.
Pros:
Professor can step in and (hopefully) offer some sort of alternative solution.
Your other subjects won’t suffer.
Sometimes you have a really great professor and they end up taking into account that you’ve done the project by yourself and mark super nicely/give a bonus mark, or even penalise the other students.
Cons:
Professor may snuff you and say “the purpose of this project is also to learn about team cooperation”. Had a prof before who told us straight up at the beginning of the project that “you work it out, not me”
Professor may help you out, but in a way that doesn’t really end up helping e.g. he just emails the two members of your group to tell them to start working once and that’s it.
Other group members hate you for life (and I know this bothers some people enough not to go through with it, again pls remember no judgement fellow readers)
How to do it: Email should be along the lines of the following:
Dear Professor _______,
I am a current student undertaking [course code]. I am sorry to contact you in unfortunate circumstances, but I have been having severe difficulty convening with the other members for the remainder of the _____ project. While I am aware that group projects have a dual purpose to both educate us on the academic topic as well as to improve our cooperation and communication skills, I have tried [insert whatever means you attempted to contact them by, attaching evidence is up to you]. I have already completed the intro/background research/other individual task, however I cannot complete the ______ by myself/without group input.
I would appreciate any guidance you could offer/I would greatly appreciate your help/If it is possible, could you please [insert action depending on how desperate you are - don’t ask for anything unreasonable!]?
I apologise for having to inconvenience you, and thank you for your understanding on the matter.
Kind regards,
[Name and student number]
Option 4. You do all the work and then leave their names off the work.
Best suited for people who: work independently, don’t mind burning a few bridges. I won’t actually recommend this option, but I’ve seen this happen in real life.
Pros:
Sense of self-satisfaction for some people when the lazy members don’t get a free ride.
Again, you make sure the project quality is exactly what you want.
Cons:
Similar to Option 1 minus the free ride bit.
Not only do the other group members hate you, but their friends in your cohort will too. At least in Option 3, those guys can’t try and gossip behind your backs because whoever they tell will realise that they didn’t do the right thing either.
Do this at your own risk, as it can backfire depending on the professor - if anyone’s watched Cheese in the Trap - the main character does all the work but the professor managed to suss out that the other group members didn’t do anything, and as a result penalised her with a D grade for failing to make it “group” work despite the fact she would’ve gotten an A. Some profs are really… they just don’t see it your way :/
Hopefully things don’t have to escalate to Option 4, but whatever you choose to take, I’ll wish you the best! I’ve given quite detailed instructions and written comprehensively, but feel free to contact me any time if you need any more help :)

i’ve been getting into calligraphy a LOT lately and i recently started getting into watercolors, so i though i’d make a masterpost of lettering! this was also highly requested – i couldn’t find many lettering masterposts so i decided to make a massive one!!
important things to remember
choosing the right pen is incredibly essential to improving handwriting and lettering! this by no means says that you need to go out and buy expensive stationery and expensive guides to lettering and whatnot, but that you should find one that works for you and work up from that to your goal!
especially for brush lettering, it is important to start off with a harder tip and then progress to softer, more flexible tips as you will be less likely to destroy the tip of the pen!!
improving your handwriting and lettering takes time, so be patient!! this will not happen overnight. i’ve been doing calligraphy for about 6 (?) months now and mine still isn’t where i want it to be, but it has improved immensely from when i first began!
videos to watch!!!
@studyquill: a quick guide to crayoligraphy | my calligraphy journey | letter with me | beginner’s guide to brush lettering
@revisiign: guide to brush calligraphy
@sprouht-studies: how i do calligraphy | letter with me
@tbhstudying: shadow font tutorial | how i write calligraphy
@studyign: how to improve cursive handwriting
@studywithinspo: how to improve your cursive
printables + lettering guides
brush lettering for beginners
calligraphy practice printables
lowercase alphabet
30 days to better brush calligraphy
lettering practice worksheets from tombow
brush pen calligraphy worksheet
+ loads more on pinterest
randomolive’s brush lettering practice guides ($)
look at other people’s handwriting or lettering and try to copy or mimic it
@studyquill handwriting tag
improving your handwriting
10 ways to make your notes look prettier
guide to pretty notes
how to: get neater handwriting
lettering tips | more lettering tips
lettering ideas
this is honestly something that i still do; i draw so much inspiration from loads of people’s handwriting and i’m still trying to perfect mine and write consistently!!
practice lettering by lettering quotes, song lyrics, etc.!
long list of quotes by @obsidianstudy: part 1 | part 2
leonardo da vinci
sylvia plath
quotes that will make you shudder
motivational classics quotes
quotes for getting sh*t done
honestly, i letter anything and everything i see; words, quotes, song lyrics, book titles, authors, colors, constellations, etc. my go-to for practice is probably lettering the days of the week and the months of the year!!
materials for lettering
brush lettering
general pens
which pen type should you use?: use this to get familiar with holding the pen and the feel of the pen, then move on to more manipulative tipped pens like brush pens.
choosing a brush pen for calligraphy
my stationery recommendations for brush lettering
a much larger post with all my stationery recommendations will be coming soon, but for now here are some specifically for brush lettering :)
crayola supertips are probably the best for beginners as they can help you learn how to hold the marker. they are also great for learning the thin upstrokes and thick downstrokes!!
pentel fude touch sign pens are great for beginners as they have a hard tip and are very easy to manipulate. they are also great for understanding if you prefer the hard tip to the soft tip, especially if your practice with the tombow fudenosuke brushes alongside them!!
the tombow fudenosuke brush pen (hard) is great for beginners as it is very similar to the pentel fude touch sign pens as well and is easy to manipulate and practice with because of it’s hard tip!
artline stix are also very good for beginners! not only do they have a firm tip, but their tip is very thick and perfect for beginning practice with a real brush pen!
tombow fudenosuke brush pen (soft) is the first brush pen that I used that was a soft-tipped brush pen! this one was easy to master after practicing for so long with a pencil and hard-tipped brush pens. i would definitely recommend this for intermediate/advanced calligraphers!!
tombow ABT dual brush pens are much like the tombow fudenosuke soft brush pen as they are also quite flexible and require practice before use, otherwise they begin to fray! the nice thing about these pens is that they come in 95 colors and are dual-ended! definitely recommend for intermediate/advanced calligraphers!

Literary Techniques
[click for higher resolution!] Whilst organising my hard drive, I found a document from English which covered lots of literary techniques. I always struggled remembering them so made this table and put it in my subject folder. I thought it might be nice to share this for those who also struggle with the specific meanings :-)
I also made a version which you can print, you can download it here.
Hope this helps!

My Favorite Word Note Taking Method
Tumblr media
When I tried to outline my notes in MS Word last semester, the method didn’t really work for me. It was too much information laid out in one space and my brain had trouble processing it. I needed things to be explained simpler and broken up more so that I could focus on individual pieces instead of trying to connect all the info at once. Flashcards are designed to be simple and to help you pick up on information quickly, one term at a time. Using this logic, turning all your notes into flashcards will simplify the process and help you learn information faster. So here’s the instruction breakdown.
1. Set up your flashcard categories. Open a blank document in Word (Google Docs or any other word processing software would also work) and type your flashcard categories (I like to align the font in the center), pressing enter after each one. Some categories I use regularly are: Terms/Definitions, Facts/Other Info, People, Places, Dates, and Formulas
2. Make your tables. In the blank line between your categories, go to the Insert tab and click table, setting it at 2 columns by 8 rows so that you end up with something like this for each category:
Tumblr media
3. Enter your information. For terms/definition, I put terms on the left and definitions on the right. Facts and info can be difficult to define, but try to break it into two parts. Names of people go on the left, and what they did on the right. Dates are on the left and what occurred is on the right. Names of equations/formulas go on the left and the formulas themselves go on the right.
4.  Study! You can transfer your flashcards to an app/website like Quizlet or just study them from the doc. I do a mixture of both.
This is a method I haven’t seen elsewhere, and really love it, so I hope it helps you guys as well. If you have any questions, my ask box is always open!
