WELL DONE!👊🏻😍 Sebagai warga negara Indonesia, ak turut bangga atas upaya yg dilakukan semua pihak utk menyelenggarakan Asian Games 2018 di Jakarta-Palembang. Selama 2 minggu, ngeliat perjuangan para atlet kt😭 bangga bgt! Perolehan medali Indonesia bahkan melebihi target (masuk 4 besar loh!)👏🏻😭 itu semua ga lepas dr penyertaan Tuhan & tentu saja kerja keras dan ketekunan para atlet dan dukungan org2 disekitarnya maupun seluruh rakyat Indonesia. Walopun ga bs memberikan kontribusi yg berpengaruh scr signifikan, tp ak pengen mengapresiasi jerih lelah yg udh dilakukan semua atlet kontingen Indonesia❤🇮🇩 Krn ak ga bakat di olahraga, ak salurkan lewat ini aja ya😁 Bagi ak, lirik lagu "As Bright As The Sun" bener2 memberikan energi baru dan ak yakin atlet2 kt merasakan hal yg sama. Kalimat terakhir pada bagian chorus bener2 menyentuh, "And give your best, let God do the rest", disitu kt diingatkan utk berjuang sekaligus berserah dlm penyertaan Yang Mahakuasa. Awalnya ga yakin sih mau "nulis" pake highlighters gt. Ternyata, enak parahh. Emg ya kl ga dicoba, ga bakal tau😂 ad bbrp detail jg pake penciltic & sarasa clip pen (my fav!) @zebraindonesia https://www.instagram.com/p/BnOt9_8hW96/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=hsn8qfx0pkpu

Friendly reminder: “Good” note-taking isn’t always “Neat/Tidy” note-taking. I see a lot of studyblrs post images of extremely well organised and laid-out notes for studying. These are truly works of art and they’re lovely to look at, but I think a lot of people get discouraged in the process of studying and taking notes because they don’t think their notes are “good enough” or “neat enough”. To this, I say nay.
Some neat notes can actually be really ineffective for studying because they focus too much on aesthetics and not enough on the practicality of absorbing information on the page. On the flipside, it’s true that really disorganised notes may make it equally as hard to assimilate the information they contain. What’s most important is striking a balance, and finding a style that works for you. Spending 2 hours writing only 10 lines probably isn’t a good use of your time. Equally, writing 50 lines in 2 minutes probably means you’ll never be able to make sense of the information you just wrote. The best notes are not necessarily the neatest, but instead they’re the ones where you simply find it easiest to remember and learn information when studying/revising.
Remember that learning should be fun, even if it is still hard work. If you ever find yourself getting depressed or heavily discouraged in the process of note-taking, it’s a good sign that the approach you’re taking isn’t right for you. This isn’t your fault, it just means that you may need to try and adjust your note format to something that you find easier to write and more fun and engaging to read. Furthermore, good notes aren’t always “written” notes - the best learning regime involes a combination of reading, listening, and speaking, so play around and find the combination what works best for you. You don’t have to learn a language the same way as everyone else, what matters is that you choose your own path that makes it possible for you to make the journey at your own pace.
I hope some of you find some solace in this information, as I know I too struggle with note-taking. I myself sometimes feel discouraged because I don’t think my notes are “good/neat enough” - I think everyone can empathise with that feeling.

Learning French vs Learning German
Reading French: a lot of words look like English, fairly straightforward, no casualties yet
Reading German: …where’s the verb gone? because i on sunday with my friend shopping went…
German tenses: wow look at these tenses that are easy to distinguish between
French tenses: is that the future, conditional, or imperfect???
German spelling: not massively difficult
French spelling: HAHAHAHA
German pronunication: things are said how they’re spelt, better master CH and R though
French pronunication: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Listening to German: as long as Hochdeutsch is spoken, all is good
Listening to French: what did i do to deserve this
Speaking German: did i send my verb to the end??? did i even say the verb??? oops i said k instead of ch
Speaking French: honestly why did i learn ALL these endings
French prepositions: not brilliant, not the end of the world
German prepositions: oh just kill me now
Telling people you’re learning French: “But it’s so easy and boring!”
Telling people you’re learning German: “But it sounds so violent!”

Literally do your work as soon as you know it exists. If you get homework, do it during your free or when you get home or on the train if you really want to, on the day you get it. Just got set an assignment? Get the draft done that weekend. It doesn’t have to be amazing and absolutely ready to send in, it just needs to exist. Just got sent an email? Reply when you see it. If you’re not sure how to response to it, write Dear (), leave a gap and then write Regards () and keep that in your drafts. Set a reminder on your computer or write the reminder on a sticky note that you’ve got that sitting in your drafts and you need to send it off in the next 24 hours. Need to clean your room? Don’t spend time thinking or planning how you’re going to clean it or how you’re going to change up the space in the process, just pick stuff up and put it where it should be until everything’s in order. Done. Seriously dude, when a task arises as an issue, tackle it as soon as you realise it exists. Remember, it doesn’t need to be amazing it just needs to be done. So, when the due date of the task creeps closer, you can go back, work with what you have and make it the quality you want it to be.

revision methods that actually work // studygram: alimastudies
1. Memory mind map
Personally, this is the most effective one for me. All you need is a blank piece of paper. Pick a sub-topic that you are doing e.g in biology a topic could be immune system and the sub-topic could be antibodies and antigens. If you want you can create some questions for each sub-topic and on your blank piece of paper, using questions as a guide, write everything you know about that sub-topic without your notes. After get your notes out and check and correct with a different colour pen. Watch this video to get a better understanding
2. Flashcards
I recommend you use written flashcards, unless you have vocab or definitions in which case digital ones like quizlet is fine. You should have questions on one side and your answers on another - i’ve heard people say the answer shouldn’t be long but i find that the more detailed it is the higher marks you score in the exam - of course summarise don’t just copy from a textbook or there is no point in doing this. When you test yourself try to do something else other than reading, for example write the answer down and then check and correct.
3. Spaced intervals
No point cramming for an exam. Yes it might have got you an A* in GCSE or other lower level exams but it’s certainly not going to get you an A* for a-levels or other higher exams. Space your learning out and if you can try and revise everyday, even if somedays are just for half an hour, DO IT! It will help you in the long term. Don’t revise one subject/unit for a whole day, space it out. For example don’t revise like this: AABBCC, revise like this instead: ABCBCA or something along those lines.
4. Mind maps
My favourite revision source!!! For some reason in an exam ( i only use mind maps for essay based subjects) i can remember where i put each point on my mind map which helps me write my essays and retrieve my information more in the long term! Don’t make it boring by trying to be ‘minimal’ - ADD COLOUR !!! But to stay within limits, too many colours can make it look overwhelming and confusing !
5. Teaching someone else
Either teach your younger siblings or pretend you are teaching to an imaginary class - while it may seem crazy it works, trust me. Use a whiteboard to help you illustrate your ideas! This method will help you identify any gaps in your knowledge and you’ll truly see if you know something well enough to explain it. If you cannot explain it to a six year old then you truly have not got the grasp of it, as Albert Einstein says!
6. past papers
Honestly, this should be the last thing for your revision, unless you have not left enough time to revise all the content and you are running out of time then past papers should be the first thing you do. Do these properly, don’t do it just to see what gaps you have in your knowledge- genuinely do it as if it is a real exam. This will help you see how well you can apply the content you have memorised for an exam. It will also get you familiar with the mark scheme which will help you get as close as full marks !!!

how to save and make money as a student
making money
tutoring! one of the easiest to make good money in limited time! you don’t have to make home calls if you sign up to an online tutoring agency and tutor over skype
sell your old clothes. to friends/classmates or online (eBay or depop are my favourite platforms)
sell your old notes. this is easily done online and a good way to make a little extra cash
sell your skills. sites like etsy and redbubble are good places to make money off your creative talents
saving money
save £1378 in a year with my free printable
make coffee and tea at home. those daily £3 coffees add up quickly
take your own mug to coffee shops. if you can’t resist the temptation of a coffee shop coffee take your own mug. pret a manger gives you a 50p discount if you bring your own mug and caffe nero gives you double stamps
don’t carry money with you all the time. this will just make you tempted to spend
never buy another bottle of water. carry a reusable bottle with you, bottled water is very very overpriced considering most cafes will refill your bottle for free
don’t use apple pay. if you always have access to money you’ll be much more tempted to go into that shop and buy the top you passed in the window
food prep! carry snacks and a packed lunch with you to avoid pricey snack bars and ready meals. this is also an easy way to be healthier
home cook. this is always cheaper than eating out and 99% of the time cheaper than pot noodles/ramen. home cooking is even more affordable if you do it in bulk or with friends
borrow and download free ebooks and audiobooks as much as possible
make good use of the library. instead of buying books borrow them for free, a library membership is often free if you belong to a university/college but a membership is still often cheaper than buying lots of books if you’re a big reader
bring reusable bags to avoid paying for plastic bags and be kinder to the environment.
go paperless. avoid printing costs and look after the environment
cut your own hair. going to the hairdressers is expensive and can be saved as a treat but if you just need to trim your split ends there’s no reason why you shouldn’t do it yourself or get a friend to help you
pre drink! if you are going out then drink alcohol at home it’s much cheaper than buying it in pubs or bars
other
use cash. it’s much easier to avoid spending money and stick to your budget when you can see exactly how much you have
keep track of your saving and spending. i love the ‘pocket expense’ app. this will also show you what things you are overspending on
collect coupons and loyalty cards. points make prizes!
create a culture of clothes borrowing among your friends. instead of always buying new things for events
