The height of my note-taking skills :’) this is a review sheet I made for AP econ (macro) because our final is tomorrow (!!!), a week before the AP test. NOTE-TAKING TIPS!

heyyy!! heres a quick post explaining some of my fav note-taking methods and some tips that i find useful. these are for taking notes from a textbook :^ ). lets get started!!

where to start -

my textbook chapters are subdivided into three or four parts so i mark in the margin which subchapter i’m at. this helps alot when i look back on my notes and want to find a specific subchapter/topic. i usually write it in highlighter so its even more noticeable. plus idk it looks kind of cute hehe.

then i use the subchapter title provided by my textbook and write that usually in big blue ink. i always just use the textbook titles when making my notes.

advice -

draw diagrams, draw diagrams, draw diagrams!!! i know sometimes i feel super lazy when i make my notes and don’t want to draw some diagrams but i force myself to!! its so worth it omg. idk i can really remember the material better once its visualized. with my teachers i get bonus marks for including diagrams so thats a plus!

write important notes in the margin! if i really want to remember a certain point i note it down in the margin so it really stands out. i can remember these points much much better and when looking at my notes my eyes go straight to the points.

use a different colour for vocabulary. idk if this is obvious this is just what i do. i pick a different colour for vocabulary and this helps me remember the definitions a lot better. 

don’t use too many supplies. i’ve tried to colour code my notes with 6 or 7 different colours and omg it takes way way too long. i usually use one black pen, one blue pen, a highlighter, and a coloured fineliner. this way i don’t have to cap and uncap pens over and over again which actually wastes a lot of time hehe.

spice your notes up! sometimes to motivate myself to start making notes i search tumblr for some of those cute banner idea posts. i use these in my notes because i find them kinda fun to draw?? im lame sry.

P E N C I L  C A S E  T O U R by educatiion

– Pen Case. I really enjoy this case and have found it’s small enough to easily fit in my backpack with my other supplies but large enough to fit my essentials. – Zebra Mildliners. A lot of people on studyblr have these and they’re definitely not necessary but they are pretty if you enjoy highlighting and color-coding. Currently I don’t have anywhere else to put them so they all stay in my case. – Hand Lotion.  – Notecards. I love love love flashcards so I always keep a small stack of blank ones with me for studying. – Pencils. Not too sure where I got these but my sister didn’t want them (since they have no erasers) so she gave them to me because I don’t typically use pencils. I mostly keep these around for tests and quizzes. – Ball-Point Pen. My most-used piece of stationary. I love writing with ball-points and these ones, by Pentel, are my absolute favorites. – Gel Pen. I keep this white gel pen with me for little corrections when I don’t want to use Wite-Out (since it creates that thick bumpy layer). – Felt-Tip Pen. A black Staedler triplus fineliner that I keep just in case. I don’t really like using these as much as ball-points though. – Ruler. This is actually the broken half of a ruler that used to sort of flip out. It’s nice and compact though! – Wite-Out Pen. I don’t really like liquid Wite-Out so I’m trying this out right now. It’s fairly decent.

010416: i have to finalize my ee topic in a week and !!! idk what i’m going to do. this small mind map is the product of an hour and a half of brainstorming orz – i just sat there going “what interests you??” and drew blanks every five minutes YIKES. hopefully i’ll have a more narrowed-down topic and a nice and focused research question written out by tuesday. i just want to make sure i pick a topic that i’ll enjoy writing about /sigh

Super exhausting but super rewarding! I never thought that I would love low vision clinics so much, but I really felt like we made a difference to the patient’s quality of life with just a few low vision aids and some training!
