A girl's four years chronicle: year 02 | who's counting?
Hello,
No, I did not quit this challenge. I disappeared before the first-year residency exam because I was overwhelmed. The pressure and the difficulty of the lessons were too heavy on my heart to find a way to romanticize the process of studying. Even though this is the core reason why we, as studyblr users, like to share our experiences here, at that time it just felt suffocating.
Anyway, the good news is that I passed the exam and I’m officially a second-year ICU resident — alhamdulillah.
This second year has been very different for many reasons:
I’m more familiar with the place and the people at work, so I’m not wasting as much energy trying to adjust. I’ve also been able to explore new places and plan breaks more often, so I feel like I’ve had more room to breathe this year.
I have more responsibilities now, both during the day and on night shifts — I have to manage calls on my own.
So all in all, the second year is going well. The only downside is that I don’t feel like I’m learning as much as I’d like — but let’s blame that on my procrastination. Hopefully, I’ll get back on track here soon.
We welcomed 8 new residents, and I’m trying to make their experience a little lighter by giving advice and teaching when I can. Some of them have become really close to my heart.
To end, I’d like to say: nothing helps a seeker of knowledge more than discipline. Managing a balanced life is the key to fulfilling your dreams.

Another day has slipped by without us talking, and I can only hope you're doing well. I imagine you’ve had your favorite snacks, lost yourself in a book you love, and maybe, just maybe, there was a fleeting moment when you missed me too.

Hematology: ✔️
I enjoyed studying it, it's one of my favourite subjects in medicine.
I also started watching this beautiful Iranian TV show. It's called Shahrazad and I'm already in love with the characters <3

A girl's four years chronicle: day 269 | year 01
So I decided to get back to my old studying habits like using the pomodoro technique. It helped! In the morning I used 50/10 cycles and in the afternoon I noticed that I couldn't focus enough so I redused the cycles to 25/5.
I eventually fell asleep early, not because of the shakhshoukha, but because the last lesson I studied was hella boring.
BREF: Digestive system and nutrition: done ✔️

Sorry to break it to you but you literally have to face your fears and slaughter them. Otherwise you will live a small life that you do not want. You literally have to view your biggest fears and attack them head on. You have to fall into the abyss to find your way out. The easy path does not exist. There is no get out of jail free card. You have to allow yourself to die a spiritual death over and over again in order to reinvent yourself into the person you are actually supposed to be. And you have to be painfully honest with yourself and the people around you. It’s horrible but it’s truly the only way.

Took me until about halfway through college before I realized “study” means “play with the material in a variety of ways until you understand it” and not just “read the assigned chapters and do the homework” and I think that probably should have been discussed at some point prior to that.

A girl's four years chronicle : day 262 | year 01
I spent the most of this day on the road ( I had to take 3 buses to get home due to the lack of transportation ).
Anyways, I made pasta for dinner (it was so so chilly, I mean tunisian pasta chilly ) and I prepared the meals for tomorrow's nightshift all while enjoying khaleeji songs ( it's my new obsession ). Now I'm lying in bed trying to summon the sleeping spirit for I need some energy for the coming days. It's gonna be hectic...

Studying emergencies, inspired by my guru Michael Scott.
It's so fun, especially the medical part of it, though I wish I got the chance to visit the emergency department to see the procedures.. really fascinating!
The exam is gonna be tomorrow, wish me luck. And this is for you all:

September Updates
Hi.
Ki rakom? I hope you all are doing great.
So I'm here for the updates: The 12 months long internship is over. I can't explain my feelings about it, but all in all it was a decent experience and I'm so grateful for it ( internat > externat ).
Now I'm trying to catch up on the lessons since I am planning to pass the residency exam in less than 2 months. I'm way behind schedule, life is complicated but with the help of Allah there is nothing to worry about. Khbich is not intense as I wished it to be in this period but I'm trying to be smart and put the important things under control.
I'm thinking of throwing an x days productivity challenge but I have commitment issues. I don't know, I will think about it..
Also, food is my bestie lately.
God, I missed this blog.
