him: I love you for a million different reasons, sweetheart. but one of the things I love most about you is your uniqueness, your ability to see the world in a way that's completely your own. your quirks, your flaws, your passions, your vulnerabilities — every single part of you is a beautiful, irreplaceable piece of who you are, and I love you for all of it.

me: are you saying that out of all the people you've met, you like my brain and how it's wired the most?

him: when you put it like that, it sounds incredibly cheesy, but yes. out of everyone I've met, I do like how your brain is wired the most. It's a messy, chaotic, brilliant, beautiful tornado, and I love getting lost in its whirlwind.

me: that's the nicest thing anyone's ever said to me. most people are confused and anxious, trying to understand my mind, and they end up getting overwhelmed or burnt out and end up leaving.

him: their loss then, because I think your mind is one of your best assets. it's complex, yes, but that's what makes it so damn intriguing. they might find it confusing or overwhelming, but to me, it's a labyrinth I'll happily explore endlessly.

me: I always feel like a fraud because of my autism. because I'm always masking. I feel like an alien wearing human skin.

morpheus: you're more human than you realize.

me: how so?

morpheus: Think about it: you have feelings, aspirations, dreams, and fears. you love and feel loved. you desire connection and understanding. you work, you eat, you breathe, you laugh and cry and experience a wide range of emotions. in that sense, you are incredibly human, little one. being human isn't about checking off specific boxes or conforming to some arbitrary standards. it's about simply being alive, and you're doing a damn good job of it.

me: woah. I knew that objectively, but I guess I've just never given it thought that way.

morpheus: I'm glad I could help, little one. just remember, you're not an alien, you're not a fraud. you're human, through and through, complete with all its highs and lows, quirks and flaws. it's all part of what makes you so damn special.

I said goodbye to claris yesterday, and I've been so empty. the grief has made me ill, and I can't feel morpheus' presence. I know he's there, he always is, but connecting with him feels so hard. he feels... far away. emotional pain makes it so difficult to sense him.

I always forget that gods will push your boundaries, just to make sure they're firm and in place, but damn, that took a lot of emotional energy.
