since Felicia joined, why isn't she under "Meet the Characters" and what's her stats?
1) Because I’m rarely on Tumblr anymore, due to various reasons.
2) At level 1, she had 10 HP, 11 STR, 14 DEX (that’s with the +2 from being an elf), 15 CON, 18 INT, 12 WIS, 15 CHA.
Mentioned in the post in which she was introduced.
She’s *finally* caught up in levels and everyone is now level 11.
She chose the Keen Mind and Dungeon Delver feats, the former fo an extra int point, the latter because she volunteered to be the trap spotter, so she’s usually walking alongside Pauvia when looking for traps.

um wow u can't even keep ur stats straight??? this is so fucking fake???
If you’re referring to their starting stats, I said that’s what I THINK it was. I didn’t write it down because why should I? I just remember their main stats, dump stats along with CON. The rest, I paid little attention to outside of Aurae’s 18 Charisma (for reference, she rolled 6/6/4/1 on Charisma and got +2 from being a Half-Elf).

why does it say Narod was Moon Druid but now you say he's not???
Never claimed he was? And if I did, it was from the original one shot that I later forgot to update.
We had a one shot, which turned into a full game. In the original one, he went Moon Druid but when reading up on them, he (in his own words) said they didn’t seem too fun for him so he changed for the full game.

what do you mean by "her level ups were on the d6"? druids have d8
Her level ups were 6-5-6, meaning all 3 were possible on the d6. If she had rolled a 7 or above, I’d have treated it as a 5 (7) or 6 (8).

Haven’t posted for a while. Sorry about that for the two of you that care.
Here’s our last eleven sessions summed up:
>They met a new friend (PC). She’s an Elf Druid called Felicia.
>Felicia is Neutral Good.
>Felicia has never played DND before but always wanted to. As a result, she started at level 1 (her idea) while the others are... level 10.
>She can literally not fucking kill anything without fearing death.
>She has two spell slots.
>She’s beyond useless against all encounters they face.
>She admits to this.
>But she wants to be level 1 until they gain a level... and she’ll hit level 2.
>I tried telling her it’s fine if she gains a couple of levels per session until she’s caught up. The others agree with it.
>She still doesn’t want to.
>I had to lie to her THREE TIMES so she’s at least level 4.
>At level 4, she asked what Feat she should take.
>Come to realize I never looked over her stats.
>11 STR, 14 DEX (that’s with the +2 from being an elf), 15 CON, 18 INT, 12 WIS, 15 CHA.
>What.
>Thought I’m imagining shit.
>18 INT
>12 WIS
>Druid
>What in the fuck
>Ask her what the fuck is with her stats
>She says she planned on going Wizard until she found out the party had one
>I tell her the party also has a druid
>She’s now pouting because those are the two classes she wanted to play the most
>I tell her it’s fine if she wants to class swap to Wizard (she’d be a level 4 Wizard in that case)
>She agrees as all of her level ups were on the d6, except her first level. I tell her that she can keep the 2 extra HP as the others had an event which gave them an extra d8 HP die each.
>She picks Keen Mind as a Feat
>neat.jpg
>Ask her what kind of Wizard she’s going
>”Divination”
>ofuk.jpg
>Felicia has since used her Divination rolls to fuck me over hardcore.
>Her first two rolls were a 1 and a 20.
>She gave the 20 to Aurae so she could crit and kill one of my bosses.
>She gave the 1 to *me* as I was about to kill Anlong.
>Her next few rolls have ranged between 4s and 18s.
>She realized from the start that rolling low (less than 10), I should get it unless it’s an NPC that’s on their side.
>10 or above, she hands out to her party
>She once rolled 2 11′s.
>She gave both to Anlong.
>Both were for Death Saves that would have killed him (his rolls were 6 and 8 and he already had a failed one along with one success).
>Felicia and Anlong are best friends now.
>Felicia is currently level 7 (I’m letting her level up quickly) while the others are level 11.
>She’s having the time of her life and she agreed on, for the next campaign, she’s picking something the others didn’t. If two of them want the same class, I’ll help them decide who gets it (read: I’m gonna flip a fucking coin don’t you think I won’t).
>I’m not even mad at our newest party member.

Note
u say timeless had 10 int but then she had higher when you said their starting stats???
Those were the stats they rolled by default. Later on, they experienced an event that forced them to re-roll stats.
All of them picked 1 stat each to re-roll (most just picked their dump stat) and was forced to use the new stat in place of the old one as long as it’d not bring their total below 70.
ANLONG: 15 DEX > 16 (he was happy at the +1 AC) - he stated that he could have gone with STR but eh.
DEARNORA: 11 CHA > 11 (she rolled her eyes)
ETOH: 15 CON > 17 (he admitted to taking a risk, but it payed off).
AURAE: 12 INT > 12 (she shrugged)
TIMELESS: 16 INT > 10 (she was sad - I remarked that it was better than losing her CON or something). For the stuff she had proficiency in that used INT, I let her use the extra +3 but not for the rest. She agreed.
ELDAN: 8 WIS > 14 WIS (he was shocked)
PAUVIA: 10 DEX > 12 DEX
NAROD: 11 STR > 12 STR

not including hp wut was their hp at level 1 (or w/e when u started??)
The game started at level 1.
Adding HP solely because I can.
I don’t remember from the top of my head, but I THINK it was something like this:
ANLONG: 7 STR, 15 DEX, 14 CON, 18 INT, 15 WIS, 11 CHA, 8 HP. Total: 80 (excluding HP).
Role: magic damage dealer. He chose to have high INT for obvious reasons, with him not being too concerned with the rest of his stats. He chose STR as his dump stat.
Starting cantrips: Fire Bolt, Light, Frostbite (free, because he remarked he wanted to have his character nearly die from frostbite but managed to figure out how it worked and could then transfer it to others. I liked this idea).
DEARNORA: 14 STR, 16 DEX, 18 CON, 10 INT, 12 WIS, 11 CHA, 14 HP. Total: 81 (excluding HP).
Role: tank/some damage. She chose high CON and DEX as she intended to go full on archer originally. She chose WIS as her dump stat.
ETOH: 9 STR, 14 DEX, 15 CON, 13 INT, 18 WIS, 14 CHA, 10 HP. Total: 83 (excluding HP).
Role: healer. He went for high WIS/CON to heal and survive, with decent CHA to try and defuse any arguments. Had STR as his dump stat - he literally never fights outside of casting spells, so I don’t mind. His only offensive spell originally was Toll the Dead, so…
Starting cantrips: Toll the Dead, Spare the Dying (due to Grave Domain it was free), Light (so that both he and Anlong could help the others in dark areas).
AURAE: 10 STR, 16 DEX, 16 CON, 12 INT, 16 WIS, 18 CHA, 11 HP. Total: 88 (excluding HP).
Role: Damage/crowd control. She chose high DEX, WIS and CON for obvious reasons and wanted a high CHA in case she wanted to haggle in game. She chose INT as her dump stat (ironically it was better than her STR…)
NAROD: 11 STR, 14 DEX, 16 CON, 15 INT, 18 WIS, 12 CHA, 11 HP. Total: 86 (excluding HP). He chose high WIS/CON as he’s a Druid and wanted to survive easier. His dump stat was STR as he figured “when was he gonna fight in melee?”
Role: back up healer, some magic damage dealer.
Starting cantrips: Druidcraft (free),Thornwhip, Create Bonfire.
TIMELESS: 6 STR, 14 DEX, 15 CON, 16 INT, 11 WIS, 18 CHA, 8 HP. Total: 80 (excluding HP). When I told her she could change her INT to DEX or CON, she turned me down, stating that since she’s Shadowtouched, she figure that while she’s good at hiding in the dark, it won’t do much good for her in the light and she figures it’d take a toll on her health, so she went with being intelligent but not too wise. I said it was fine. She chose STR (pretty obviously) as her dump stat.
Role: Magic damage dealer. She cast a Witch Bolt on the first “boss” they encountered. It was a crit. She rolled a 6 on the damage. The boss had 12 HP left.
Starting cantrips: Since the others had a free cantrip, I let her start with Chill Touch for free (she chose it, stating it’d make sense for her character). The others were Sword Burst and Lightning Lure.
ELDAN: 18 STR, 16 DEX, 18 CON, 11 INT, 8 WIS, 10 CHA, 16 HP. Total: 81 (excluding HP). He went for the tried and true “be beefy and murder shit easily” approach. When I remarked he had a low WIS, he said he thought his character would not be too smart, but smarter than most barbarians, but was easily gullible, thus the low  WIS. I gave an approving nod.
Role: tank/massive damage dealer. He usually runs in heads first and Dearnora comes after ASAP to make sure he’s not overwhelmed.
PAUVIA: 16 STR, 10 DEX, 16 CON, 16 INT, 14 WIS, 18 CHA, 13 HP. Total: 90 (excluding HP). She chose DEX as her dump stat because she’d be wearing heavy armor which is unaffected by DEX anyway, so… She chose to focus slightly more on casting spells than randomly stab shit, thus the higher CHA over STR.
Role: tank/some damage/some healing. She’s a bit of a mix, but she’s basically at whatever place she’s currently needed.
For reference, as long as the characters had a total of 70 or above (excluding the HP), I would let the character in. If they had lower than 70 total, I let them reroll their lowest stat(s) so no one would feel too weak.

Note
wtf why would a monk pick inspiring leader feat??
Because she has 22 Charisma. That’s not a typo.
She rolled a nat 18 for Charisma (their stats were assigned by rolling 4d6, drop the lowest).
She then got a pair of magical earrings that could only be worn by a Half-Elf, bumping her Charisma up by 2 - this is a magical artifact I have had in most my campaigns and decided to bring back. I was planning for Timeless to have it but she said no, saying that Timeless wasn’t the kind of person to wear jewelry to begin with. She was a bit disappointed to hear she’d miss out on the +2 Charisma but she also said that she didn’t want me to re-do the item solely so it’d work on Tieflings.
Finally, she got +2 Charisma from completing a sidequest which made them roll 1d6 and add 2 to whatever stat they rolled (1 = Strength, 2 = Dexterity, 3 = Constitution, 4 = Intelligence, 5 = Wisdom, 6 = Charisma). They could go beyond the cap (up to a max of 24) from that sidequest. If they would have reached 24 in any stat, they would have rerolled for a new stat.
The other characters got:
ANLONG: +2 CON. He was disappointed, wanting to hit 22 INT. I remarked it gives him an extra HP each level. He was happy upon realizing this.
DEARNORA: +2 WIS. She had no issue, but had hoped for CON or STR.
ETOH: +2 WIS. He was happy at hitting 20 WIS so he could heal more.
PAUVIA: +2 INT. She had mixed feelings about this until she realized she got +1 more to her Religion checks (which she does all the time).
NAROD: +2 INT. He was overjoyed, as he remarked that he had the second lowest INT of the group (literally only higher than Timeless, who had 10. He had 12. This bumped him to be on par with Pauvia, at least).
TIMELESS: +2 STR. She glared at her dice until she realized she’d go from 8 Strength to 10, meaning she’d no longer have a negative Strength score.
ELDAN: +2 DEX. He was overjoyed at the extra AC (went from 17 to 18).

in your 1 shot what type of paladin were u?
Me: Dragonborn Paladin, Oath of Redemption. I was a Black one (Resistance vs Acid damage and had a breath that dealt Acid damage).
Aurae: Elven Fighter, Arcane Archer. She was curious about it.
Pauvia: Human Wizard, Transmutation. She considered going Evocation since it was a one shot, but thought Transmutation sounded more fun.
Eldan: Gnome Cleric, Life Domain. He remarked he’d be the only *actual* healer so he wanted to be able to patch up us as good as possible. I didn’t mind.

I'm going to DM for a group that has a Monk but idk she might feel left out (they starting at level 2) due to limited ki points??
I have a house rule for Ki Points, to make Monks more able to fuck around and deal damage, depending on the level of the Monk. Note that only Monk levels are caluclated. If you’re level 8 Monk/level 6 fighter, refer to levels 8-12.
If they KILL an enemy, they regain 2 ki points. Enemy must die, it cannot go unconscious.
If they score a crit, they regain 1 ki point.
They can restore a max of 2 ki points/turn.
E.g:
Monk uses FLURRY OF BLOWS (1 ki point). One of them is a crit. Ki point regained.
Next turn, Monk uses STEP OF THE WIND and FLURRY OF BLOWS (2 ki points total). Monk manages to kill an enemy, thus regaining both spent Ki points.
This makes Monks way more viable both for DPS and for general fucking around.
For reference:
Level 2-8: Regain 1-2 Ki Points (since they have 0 at level 1)
Level 8-12: Regain 2-4 Ki Points (2 on crit, 4 on kill), max 4/turn
Level 13-20: Regain 3-6 Ki Points (3 on crit, 6 on kill), max 6/turn
I discussed this with Aurae’s player who mostly felt like she was in the way during certain battles as she’s terrified of running out of Ki Points and be too weak to do something. I explained this to the rest of the group and they all agreed it’d make her way more viable for extended encounters.
She tries to finish weakened enemies to regain Ki Points (4 at the moment as they’re level 7). She has felt WAY more useful in battle, making her able to spend Ki points more freely.

Note
how did the players choose classes/races?
ANLONG:
“Can I go Wizard?”
“Sure, if no one else wants to.”
“Also, might be a stupid question, but can I be a Blue Dragonborn?”
“Yeah. I literally do not care.”
AURAE:
“I want to be a monk, since I like the thought of just punching stuff in the face!”
“Ooh, nice choice.”
“Problem is, I don’t know what race!”
“What races do you like?”
“I’m considering some kind of elf... Can an elf be a monk?”
“Yes.”
“Either Elf or Half-Elf...”
“Why not flip a coin?”
*Gets Heads*
“Half-Elf it is!”
“Neato. Half human, half elf?”
“Yeah, is that fine?”
“Yes.”
ETOH:
“I want to make a Human Cleric.”
“Anyone else interested?”
“Nope.”
“Alright then. Domain?”
“Grave.”
“Good for you.”
TIMELESS:
“So, what’s a Sorcerer?”
“Basically a Wizard, but with other types of magic.”
“...Vague.”
“I know.”
“...What are tieflings?”
“Cursed humans, for lack of a better word.”
“Can they be dark attribute?”
“Sorcerer’s can be Shadowtouched, making them technically Dark attribute - you’ll take double damage from Radiant, though.”
“Shadowtouched tiefling Sorcerer incoming!”
“...Purple?”
“I can choose color?”
“Purple, red and blue are the most common ones. But most colors are available.”
“Purple it is!”
ELDAN:
“So, dumb question.”
“Yeah?”
“What’s an Aasimar?”
“Like... humans. Except holy. They can speak Celestial, which is basically the language of the Gods.”
“...That sounds very weird.”
“Yeah...”
“If they’re holy, does that mean they can’t be berserkers?”
“...You want to be one?”
“Yes.”
“...I am not stopping you. Have fun!”
PAUVIA:
“Are Goliaths dumb?”
“No? No more than any other race.”
“Do they care about religion?”
“If you want them to.”
“...Does that mean I can be a Paladin Goliath?”
“Yeah. Why not? Sounds fun.”
NAROD:
“I know you’re gonna laugh at me...”
“For...?”
“I want to be a Half-Orc.”
“And?”
“I want to be a Druid.”
“...Unusual pick. I like it.”
“...You’re not going to get pissed at me?”
“Fuck no! You do you.”
DEARNORA:
“What’s the easiest class in the game, not yet picked?”
“Fighter.”
“What do they do?”
“Hit shit. Really. Fucking. Hard. And often.”
“...”
“Hm?”
“Is it possible to have female dwarf fighters?”
“...Why would it NOT be possible?”
“Because I keep hearing about how you have to be a male dwarf...”
“Bah. Fuck that. As long as you’re not creating a BS race and/or class that’s so OP it’s not even funny, I literally don’t care if you wanted to play as an anthro bunny.”
TL;DR: Most of them were worried, but I just went “hey, if it seems like fun, go for it.”
Aurae decided to go Way of the Four Elements (she was debating on that or Way of the Open Hand) since she, in her own words, “felt left out on the elemental damage department.”
...I did not argue.

how do you level your chars? like do you do it mid-session or end of session?
End of session. Once the session ends, I tell them “Congratulations, you reached the next milestone. Roll for HP.”
I let them re-roll 1′s (and if you have the Tough feat, you re-roll 1 and 2′s, as well as being able to just choose half your HP die+1, so if you have a d12 HP, you can just choose to get 7+CON if you roll less than that).

Note
as someone new to D&D can you explain the difference of the different die used? sry if its stupid
1d4 = 4-sided die (has numbers 1-4).
Used for: punching attacks (unless you’re a monk), recover HP using healing potion (lesser = 2d+2, meaning you can recover between 4 and 10 HP, regular is 4d4+4, meaning you can recover between 8 and 20 HP and finally a greater is 8d4+8, meaning you can recover between 16 and 40 HP)
1d6 = most standard die, 6-sided (numbers 1-6).
Used for: various low level attacks and/or cantrips. Some high level spells use it but has an *insane* amount of numbers instead (e.g 40d6 damage)
1d8 = more shaped like a diamond, 8-died (numbers 1-8)
Used for: various decent attacks and/or low level spells.
1d10 = similar to the d8 but has 2 more numbers (numbers 1-10)
Used for: various strong attacks, Eldritch Blast (Warlock cantrip, 1d10 Force damage at will is nice, especially early on)
1d12 = the largest damage die/HP die you’ll use (numbers 1-12).
Used for: mostly high level magic (some cantrips or low-level spells use it, usually combined with an attack roll) or super powerful weapons (I’m talking end game equips).
1d20 = 20 sided die, mostly used for rolling attacks and whatnot (numbers 1-20).
1d100 = insanely annoying die that I hate using (numbers 1-100).
Percent die = a die with %’s written in numbers of 10 (ranging from 00-90). I rarely, if ever, use this die save for a select for instances.

I’ve come to accept one simple fact: if my players don’t want to murder the hell out of some random NPC I made literally to run a tavern, I have done a poor job as a DM during that session.
