while navigating the terror that is writing fictional romance i came across the worst and most aggravating issue of all. figuring out what Jake’s goddamn orientation is. the boy was hinted at being aro in pesterquest which i was really excited abt but felt mixed on bc his feelings towards dirk & their messy relationship felt super real to me. but after thinking abt it gray-romantic fits him SUPER well. experiencing romantic attraction very rarely, feeling unsure on how to separate platonic/romantic attraction and having issues telling the two apart or labelling them. his quote abt not liking dirk as much as he ‘should’ rlly resonated w/ me as an aro who tried to date (albeit a diff type of aro) so i’ve snatched the boy up for rep while still managing to conserve his romo relationship bc some aro spectrum ppl have relationships. demiromantic or other such folks are just as aro as i am.
