Captain Gill Grunt! The most fearsome pirate to roam the seas of Skylands!

The first of Mirror of Mystery Skylanders! Captain Gill Grunt is the most vile pirate captain in all of Skylands, plundering and conquering as he pleases with his armada of ships. Although his biggest hobby remains hunting the great sea-creatures of Skylands. All of his ships are decorated with their bones and other nice looking extremities, and he takes particular pride in his big list of species that he has poached into extinction. His most prized possesion though, remain the many mermaid wifes he has accumulated over the years. All of them have willingly made the choice to wed him, of course wink

Making this post now, I do realise that maybe I should think about changing these characters names, as "Gill Grunt" doesn't quite fit him now that he's a pirate. Something to think about for later.

Welcome the Darkness everyone! Don't let him looks fool you. He's so much worse than he looks!

Man, everyone from skylands sees the darkness as a shadowy figure. While Beauo is out here fighting for her life against the four kings.

Not to mention that the way the darkness looks is unique to each person. Not two forms are the same. So Beauo got the short end of the stick on this one.

Everyone gets a somewhat goofy mecha titan and she gets great terror from beyond the cosmos.

Now for the indepth lore of this being!

Before there was time, before there was anything there was nothing... from the ashes of nothing 2 were born. One of the light and the other of darkness. Two halves of the same coin. Ying and yang, push-pull, life-death, creation and destruction. Both dependent on the other, yet can never get along.

The only time the light and the darkness ever agreed on anything, was when they were first born. The agreed that they hated eachother. Their constant fighting and conflict is what brought life into skylands. However, this constant fighting is not ideal and can often leave the inhabits in the crossfire.

Once they took notice of the inhabits, they began to start pitting them against eachother. In an attempt to use sheer numbers to overthrow one another. Leaving more to their untimely demise.

Due to this, the gods created the portal masters to help remedy the damage the two entities inflict and protect the people from them. However, that purpose soon changed when the light took notice of them. Thus creating the era known as the Split.

In exchange for powerful magic and spells, portal masters began to crowd towards the light and devoting their being to it. Spreading the light's influence across skylands. This didn't sit well with the darkness and he began to seethe. If the light can recruit these portal masters, then so can the darkness. With this, the dark portal masters arose and at first things were peaceful. Until the light portal masters began to fear that the dark portal masters were going to usurp them. So they casted them away and stripped them of their title. Steering away future portal masters from following the dark path. Making more portal masters side with the light. It was this action that led to their doom.

Seeing the suffering of his people, the darkness gave them a powerful summoning spell. A spell to open doors to world's beyond them. A way to even out the playing field for the dark portal masters. The darkness gave their people the ability to summon a dark army. An army so devoted to their lord (the darkness) that even those from other timelines will follow their orders without question. But they did not care for others, which is what the darkness and his people learned too late.

When the sun turned black, the dark portal masters opened the door and the dark army came. At first, they tried to command the army for themselves. But it only ended with their demise. Soon, the army grew out of control and spread throughout the skylands, in search of other portal masters to eradicate in the name of their lord, regardless of who they sided with.

Seeing the mass destruction in their wake and the slaughter of his people, the darkness called upon his army for one last crusade. In exchange, he would give them salvation. Eager to please, the army followed and committed one last crusade.... once done they reached up to their lord for their reward, but was met with death instead. As punishment for killing the dark portal masters, the souls of these dark crusaders wander the abyss. Forever to be tormented by the darkness and his lords.

But the darkness was not done yet.

Now without a portal master to his name, he believes he is owed one, due to the light having one, its only fair to have one for themselves. Despite both the light and darkness being ancient beings of creation beyond mortal comprehension, they tend to act like petty mortals. Both try to over throw the other constantly. Never agreeing on anything and often seeing mortals as play things over actual people (The light is worse on this one). Unling the light, the darkness tries to atleast view his play things as valuable objects. but just like any collector, anything bright, shiny, and new catches his eye. In this case, anyine who has a lot of power and has not yet been taken from the light.

The darkness also tends to have a bit of an ego, believing it to be the strongest as everyone fears it. Not to mention his tendency to tormented souls into forcing the fear into them. Or even forcing them to make a pact with them to grow his influence.

Regardless, the darkness is essential for life in skylands. For the destruction they cause promotes life and brings an end to those in suffering. Afterall, all who lives will meet him in the end.

I FINALLY FINISHED SPYRISE!!

About time too, I was thinking about taking a hiatus before I finished 😅

Now some lore time!! (Not much cuz i really like his lore)

Spy Rise was in the family business of private investigators. Just like his father/creator, Spy Rise is one hell of a detective. Ain't nothing getting past him nor his skills. In fact, his investigation style is around 95% accurate with some wiggle room of course. Nothing is really hidden from him. Any kind of gossip, rumor, or even hidden knowledge he most likely has. Making him great for his field of work.

He is the definition of confidentiality, any secret told to him will never be revealed. Regardless of what the secret is. However, this makes it a bit hard for others to connect with him. Often, when Beauo or anyone tries to strum up a normal conversation with Spy Rise, he gives very vague and short answers. Often saying "That's classified" or "that is none of your business." This is not to say he's a jerk, he just doesn't want to risk of spilling information to the wrong person.

However, there are moments where someone can pry a bit of information from him... but its not for free. He'll gladly trade information for information, depending on the topic of interest. But it has to be something he doesn't know of. This can be difficult as he is quite the history buff.

In fact, Spy Rise is so careful with sharing information that he rarely tells the portal master anything that doesn't pertain her. Not even about his outside is known, which makes people think he's an assassin that's pretending to be a skylander. This rumor doesn't help as he has quite a lot of knowledge of poisons from around the islands.

It also doesn't help that he doesn't exactly respect the portal master. He sees Beauo as a short tempered, spoiled princess who isn't ready to take such a powerful role of "portal master". He is seen rolling his eyes and sighing when she summons him to check up on things. Finding her insist nagging for info annoying and overbearing. This attitude is also fueled by the fact that he is well aware of her people's past actions and violent tendencies.

But this mindset doesn't stick for long, especially not after the Lycan virus incident.

"What is the lycan virus incident?"

You may ask?

Well this isn't like a virus that makes you and I sick with a cold. This actually doesn't affect organic tissue either. In fact it's a code virus thst affects robotic beings. Sadly, that means spider robots like Spy Rise aren't safe.

Those that are inflicted with this virus with undergo a painful transformation of becoming a killing machine. Any semblance of the host with be gone after 12hrs of the transformation. Only leaving a husk that only desires to spread the virus to others. Sadly, this means they do go after those that arent robotic too.

But not all is lost, there is a way to cure this cybernetic problem, of a strong enough EMP can be shot at the target, it can remove the virus... but its a risky move. EMPs are known to kill robotic beings or even remove any and all memories.

With this being said, you can imagine the stress everyone felt when Spy Rise ended up affected by the disease. Especially the portal master, Beauo has never came across this before and had to evacuate a large area of the academy to protect everyone. After that ordeal was done, the portal master had to go after Spy Rise herself. She didn't want to risk dealing with two of them.

After a cruel game of cat and mouse, Beauo found Spy Rise and began the next phase of her plan... distracting him.

Using her powers, she kept Spy Rise at a distance but still stayed close enough to keep his attention on her. This gave Manga Charge enough time to calculate the EMP to get rid of the virus once and for all. After a scuffle and a few well placed stabs onto Beauo's shoulder, they were able to save their friend.

Once in recovering, Spy Rise was able to come back into reality and was filled in on what just happened. Finding out what happened, he began to feel guilty for not only nearly harming his colleagues but also nearly tearing the portal master's arm off. Seeing that Beauo was willing to get into harm's way to save him and the others, she gained his respect.

Losing his attitude towards Beauo, he works with her a bit better and is willing to share a bit more about outside his work life. Coming a bit out of his shell, he starts to realize thst his work as a P.I. doesn't have to make him shut himself in. He starts to learn to separate his work from his normal life. Helping him gain more friends and getting A LOT more information with less of the work. Learning things that he hasn't even noticed until he became open with his thoughts and personality.

But the rumors about him still remain.

I have had this au on the mind again, obviously, so here's a piece. He's trying his best as a single father with a daughter who's had a 20 year rebellious phase.

Now for the lore!

Blast Zone joined the Swap Force right before Rattle Shake and Freezer Blade did. Giving him a bit more authority over some of the younger members of the Swap Force. Despite his discipline and cold demeanor, he is really kind. In fact, he's quite the chatterbox if given a chance. Especially about his Furnace Horse, Arthur. He'll loves to talk about his horse and horses in general. They have a special place in his heart. But the one thing he's truly known for is his fiery passion for protecting his friends. He sees the Swap Force and other skylanders as apart of his family. If one is in trouble, there isn't anything stopping this freight train from coming in and wrecking havoc. Once, he ate bombs to spite some bandits and then proceeded to spit out the flames to send them running. Saving not only the new recruits but also Eon at the time.

When Beauo become the new portal master, it didn't take long before Blast Zone easily grew attached to the young Portal Master. Often, he is seen checking every room in case there was a hidden bomb or assassin. Sometimes he may go a bit too far but he means well.

Afterall, he'd do this for anyone in his family, without even asking.

Blast Zone is one of many Furnace Knights who became a skylander. No one really knows how they come into existence but one thing is for certain, seeing one or many means something bad is about to happen. Whether it be a bomb that's about to go off or a war that's about to start, Furance Knights have a complicated history in skylands.

Furnace Knights used to be considered omens of pestilence, war, famine, and death. Often, many see them as evil and sinister. But in reality, they come when something bad is about to happen and try to prevent it... or if something bad has ALREADY happened, they come as damage control.

Back before the age of healing magic, disease and famine ran rampant in a lot of islands in skylands. Due to the lack of medical knowledge and poor hygiene, it was easy for a disease to hop from island to island. That is where the Furnace Knights come in. To prevent other islands from getting infected, they would cleanse the island of all life and transport the remaining healthy population to another island. If the disease was so virulent, they would have no choice but to do what had to be done to prevent others from getting sick. It was a hard job to do but it was necessary at the time.

But that's only scratching the surface of their past. When war was waged, the Furnace Knights were often approached to either fight against the enemy or to create weapons of mass destruction. Regardless of who asked, they would obliged with the right price. They're speciality were fire weapons and bombs. You could always tell if someone has got their hands on a Furnace Knight weapon when there's only a crater left on the battlefield.

But it wasn't all dark, they were also known to protect and fight for those who couldn't do so themselves. Often, they were even be seen giving their own life to protect someone thst is not of their kind. Despite all their dark deeds, they have always valued other lives above their own. Giving the term "Knight's Honor" meaning.

Several centuries later, their purpose would change. No longer would they be made to cleanse or to wage war. In the industrial era, they were able to use their forging skills to craft tools and supply business with fuel. Because of their influence, the first ever coal powered train was invented. Making it easier for transportation. Although, some knights didn't like the change and stuck with their original purpose of forging weapons. But they soon faded through time.

A Furnace Knight is composed of 2 things, fire and metal. But no ordinary metal, this metal is insulated. It keeps the fire within the armor to prevent it from going out. The fire is what makes the Knight, it is their life blood and one must tend to the fire or it will go out. Furnace Knights don't eat regular food or drink, they instead burn coal and wood to keep themselves going. But they can't eat too much for they might go into over burn. A state where the fire with seep through their armor and make it difficult for the knight to move. Which it why they stay away from anything flammable as much as possible. What's worse is thst they may even risk exploding if they're not careful.

As for any living creature, a Furnace Knight is not exempted from the laws of time. They are still subjects to the forces of nature and can rust or even get put out. Regardless of how old or young a Knight is, when their time has come, their flame will dissipated. Leaving only the armor behind, other Furnace Knights will gather the pieces and create a memorial in honor of the individual. Those who died from sacrifice will gain the highest honor of them all, to be buried in the Hall of Heroes. Where only the most heroic are buried. Some legends even say that this burial sight is the closest to the heavens. Giving the honored knight a place in the heavens above.
