          Swiftly,  she  gets  to  work.  Combing  through  her  hair  with  her  fingers,  readjusting  her  headpiece  to  rest  in  the  correct  position,  & tucking  her  bangs  back  behind  her  ear  in  a  futile  attempt  to  appear  presentable.  Her  hands  move  to  her  dress  next,  dusting  the  dirt  from  its  skirt,  before  an  abrupt  gasp  leaves  her  lips. 

         “Oh,”  She  sighs,  her  fingers  moving  to  lift  the  hem  of  her  dress  up,  placing  its  fabric  within  the  palm  of  her  hand  as  she  examines  the  tear  across  its  intricate  needlework.  “That’s  not  going  to  be  an  easy  fix.  .  .” 

          Suddenly,  her  chin  lifts.  “Oh!”  She  repeats,  whipping  her  head  around  to  face  Frank.  “A  talking  dragon?  How  incredible!”

  Kyoko’s  reserved  disposition  had,  by  now,  been  something  Naegi  had  grown  accustomed  to.  &  whilst  she  kept  things  fairly  close  to  her  chest,  his  naïveté,  alongside  his  peculiar  sense  of  optimism,  had  led  him  to  placing  his  trust  within  her  nonetheless. 

  What  ground  did  he  have  to  speculate  the  validity  of  her  character,  anyway?  After  all,  she  was  his  friend  –  and  a  dear  one,  at  that. 

  Her  words  slice  at  that  naïveté,  &  he  allows  his  mind  to  race,  if  only  for  a  small  while.  Delving  into  the  possibilities  of  her  statement,  he  feels  his  heart  descend  further  into  his  stomach.  What  could  she  not  of  told  him? 

ㅤ “ Kirigiri-san,  what  are  you  talking  about? ”  Naegi  pries,  his  hand  sat  firmly  against  his  chest,  heart  beating  against  his  fingers. 

ㅤ ㅤㅤNaegi  swiftly  swallows  that  anxiety  down,  disallowing  himself  to  be  guided  further  by  it.  He  circles  back  to  their  relationship  internally  –  whatever  she  was  about  to  tell  him,  he  wouldn’t  allow  it  to  shake  how  he  felt  about  her.
