Maybe recovering doesn’t necessarily mean you come back to who you were, but you become someone new. Maybe you find a new sense of self. Maybe you like this version better. Maybe you feel like you improved as a person, in a new direction that you didn’t expect to go. Healing comes in different ways, but I hope it works out for you, and that you feel comfortable in your own skin and that you can cope better with any challenges that may come.

How many arguments could be avoided if people just asked instead of assumed?
I know there's that social bullshit where people are afraid to ask for fear of coming off a certain way, or because we live in a toxic society that sometimes punishes people for asking and not mind reading.
But the other reason people don't ask is so they don't have to hear the answer. That better to ask forgiveness than permission mindset that I Fucking Hate.
I can work the former, but I don't bother with the latter because they care more about getting what they want rather than your boundaries and feelings.
I gotta tell you, the Neurodivergent tendency to just ask instead of playing these games is a far better way. Its a breath of fresh air when someone else just asks me or lets me ask without it being a thing.

But of course you have trouble showing affection to others! The only type of love you knew growing up was conditional. You were neglected over and over, at all the times you needed it the most. Your voice was silenced, your feelings ignored. Molding yourself into what was expected from you, in hopes of finally getting the love you always deserved. You did nothing wrong.

It's not fair to tolerate discomfort to make someone else comfortable. You're not less deserving of joy, rest and happiness than anyone else. You don't have to prove yourself worthy to have the most basic things in life, and I am sorry someone has made you feel like you should be perfect. You don't have to put up with so much only to prove you're not a burden on others. I hope soon you can let go of all this guilt and shame you have for simply existing. I hope soon you will feel more alive than ever.

Everybody talks about cutting ppl off but nobody really talks about the grief that comes with having to stand firm on that decision knowing it’s not what you wanted but what was necessary for your well-being.
