What is the ideal kind of water for betta fish?
If you have some experience with fish keeping, you will notice that betta fish requires minimal conditions, unlike most fish. There are things you should know before you set up your aquarium.
Can bettas thrive in tap water?
It’s a rookie mistake to take water straight from the sink.
Although some fish survive on tap water, we don’t advise you to take the risk. There are several reasons for this. One of them is the chemical features of the water. Sink waters are usually treated with chlorine and also have heavy metals.
The main concern is in the wellbeing of your fish. Just as chlorine in pools irritates the eyes, bettas also find them corrosive.
Chlorine can burn the eyes, gills, and mouth. And, it may cause more harm if it enters the body.
No, we are not saying your sink water cannot be used in an aquarium. There are certain solutions to these issues. You must dechlorinate your sink water before you begin to use it.
