It’s a mad mad world...
I am struggling to digest that my son’s school consider it appropriate as part of teaching religious studies to get them to write in the first person as if they were a Christian who opposes same sex marriage. Effectively they are asking the kids to write homophobic comments in their school books as if they were their own. This is not the same in my mind as simply teaching them the facts about other people’s beliefs and religions in order that they can understand there are different perspectives on an issue. I am proud my son refused to undertake the activity (the role play as the school described it to me) though not proud about how rude he was about it to the teachers, which is a question of him needing to adopt an alternative approach to his current one when dealing with issues with which he disagrees. My analytical nature means I keep cogitating on this point in case its me being irrational and over-reacting, and I’ve run it by friends too, but I keep back to the view that this is beyond wrong.

Update Post
I have changed this tumblr from a John Barrowman specific blog to my personal blog because I no longer run the website and I don’t want to start a new and separate blog. I’ll therefore undoubtedly either start blogging lots of random stuff you may or may not be interested in or I’ll totally forget I have the account and it will lie dormant until I remember to take 5 minutes to publically procrastinate on here.
In all likelihood I will ramble on about Barrowman or possibly Misha Collins but I make no promises as my attention span is quite limited.....
Oh look...a shiny thing...

A change of plans.
In light of the recent events in Orlando, I’ve ended the #GishwhesTakesTumblr hunt early. It’s a bad day for games. We still have lots of prizes to give away and donations to make to charities, but we’re going to distribute them in a different way.
Instead of a game, we are going to let you give the remaining prizes away to people who have made a difference in your life. From now until 4pm PDT, today (Sunday), I’m inviting you to nominate someone you know who has had a profound and positive impact on in your life to receive one of our remaining prizes. (We still have show props, signed scripts, iPods, lots of stuff.)
So here’s what you do: Tell us about a particular person on Tumblr who has made a difference in your life and why they deserve something special. We will read your submissions and select the stories that move us most. Those selected will not only get something from us, but they will also be able to choose a charity that we will contribute to on their behalf.
Please tag your posts #GiveLoveToday
I’m also postponing my tumblr Answer Time until tomorrow at 4pm.
- Misha

Item #72: You’re so productive! That was brilliant of you to transform your stand-up paddle board into an office with a desk, lamp, and chair. Let’s see a picture of you working on your mobile office while it’s afloat.

Stood by a mother today who was politely and calmly explaining to her young child that he couldn’t buy the toy he wanted because he didn’t have enough money for it. She told him very sweetly that he had to save up his pocket money until the day came when he could buy it, and because he’d waited, he’d enjoy it all the more when he finally bought it.
The kid processed the news for about ten seconds and then SCREAMED LIKE IT WAS THE END OF THE MOTHERFUCKING WORLD.
And that, my friends, is pretty much why I owe so much money on my credit card, because that kid is me.
