I think most of Tumblr's attempts at world building religion are absolutely terrible because:
1. They think that only stupid people are faithful, anyone who's 'enlightened' won't be religious
2. Religions are some sort of centuries long con/conspiracy used to manipulate people (therefore no religion is real ever)
3. Are trying to make pantheon ala Greek/Roman mythology, but their knowledge is exclusively from Percy Jackson and the Tumblr-ified/woobified versions online
4. Legitimately believe that religion is just an accessory, (ie. A person is a Christian if they wear a cross, a person is Muslim if they wear a head covering)
5. They have an inability to engage with or write from the perspective of someone who's different from them
And the sad thing is that this could be so easily resolved if they were just willing to research (and do it on a place that isn't Tumblr or another social media platform)

"why are you a christian when they hate queer people?"
well 1) your experiences are not universal and 2)
i do actually believe this stuff. i do believe that God created the universe. i do believe he spoke to the jewish people and made an eternal covenant with them, and i do believe he incarnated himself as a human and was born of a human woman. i do believe he became a religious teacher, traveling around the land we now call the levant. i do believe he was murdered but then came back to life three days later. i do believe that the descendants of his students have more or less kept the faith of their elders since then, and i believe that god still guides them in spirit today. i do believe that the dead will be raised to eternal life to live with God.
some of these things i believe more or less depending on the day, but it's the story i cling to, and i didn't get to choose that that's what gives my life meaning. i don't get to just drop it because sometimes it's socio-culturally inconvenient. because it's what i believe. some of us really do believe in things

Pray for our brothers and sisters in China

1 billion bibles burned. Churches torn down. Men, and women thrown into “transformational camps” with no trial, no jury, no escape. Tortured, damaged and missing organs. But take heart for they have Spirit and Faith, memorizing whole books of the Bible, evangelizing in whispers, baptisms underground. Pray for them. Remember them. For the Lord of Heaven hears their cries and sees them when the world, the media refuses to look.

Sorry to once more be asking for prayers. But if you could please pray for me and my health. The stress of everything that has happened recently has caused my chronic pain to really flare up. And I am dealing with a lot of intense anxiety. Tomorrow me and my family also have to travel to speak with a lawyer about my gran's dementia and making sure we have all of the important documents finalised. Thank you so much for your prayers, and I will keep you in mine.

Person: No one should be religious. The world would be better without it.
Me: So you think the world would be better if everyone had the same beliefs as you?
Person: On this topic, yes.
Me: So you want to essentially create a monoculture, getting rid of millions of different traditions from all over the world, because you personally think everyone else would be better off without religion. I’m sorry but that’s like a textbook colonizing mindset.
Person: Your one to talk. You’re literally Christian.
Me: I’ve deconstructed my beliefs. I don’t think everyone should be Christian, and I don’t believe in enteral suffering under God either. Just because my religion has a history of colonialism and forcing beliefs doesn’t mean I want to continue that trend and it certainly doesn’t mean I want to trade one version of that for another.

Update: I appreciate your reblogs. The doctors, according to my parents, found blood clots in his kidneys, among other things, and they’re unable to intubate him because of his poor lungs. He’ll need to go to rehab — which is scary, seeing as his wife also went to rehab and died shortly thereafter. Thank you for all your prayers. May God bless you abundantly. 🫶
Hi. I’m not very active on here, but prayers would be appreciated. My grandfather, 83, is quite frail and absolutely despises medical attention, but he’s developed a sickness that seems severe enough for my aunt to call 911. If it isn’t an inconvenience, please pray for him. I’m aware that it is the Lord’s will, but selfishly enough, I don’t think any of us are ready for him to go. Thank you ❤️🩹
