For all that Riddick considered everything that had no real stakes a playfight, their matches were challenging and ruthless enough to be both beneficial and enjoyable. For all that he was first to bend the knee, Vaako didn’t sign up for defeat, that much was certain. It had its own peculiar charm. Not to mention how satisfying it made making him yield.

Just like now, when Riddick finally had him pinned against a wall, knocking the dagger out of his hand. He leaned in with a long inhale, catching the scent of skin, exertion, and defiance.

“Say now, Vaako,” Riddick looked deep into those dark eyes. “You keep what you kill, right?”

“It is the Necromonger way,” Vaako ground out, his eyes going a little wider, the glare losing some of its sharpness. He was no doubt considering the possibility Riddick would this time finally end him.

Riddick’s grin became a little wider, flashing canines. “So, who do I have to kill to keep you?”

I think using archaic terms to get around censorship should be the norm. Calling rape ‘grape’ or using the grape emoji is ridiculous, if they’re not going to let us use the correct terminology, let’s go back to saying ‘outraged’. Calling murder ‘unaliving’ or ‘m-word’ is also fucking ridiculous. Let’s start using ‘slain’ again. They can’t ban ‘slay’ and ‘slayed’ because it is such a ubiquitous slang term that going back to the other meaning of the word would be a perfect way to skirt the censors.

Been thinking about how the new Superman movie did a really good job of giving Clark interests beyond “Truth, Justice, and a Better Tomorrow.” He likes pop punk rock. His favorite meal is breakfast for dinner. Clark does a little dance when he gets the front cover byline. He likes to doom-scroll. Unclear if he’s a dog guy. His girlfriend makes him hot cocoa when he’s sad. So often Superman in film has zero personality beyond tortured alien that must guide humanity. Giving him these small details made the character feel so much more real. He really is just a guy doing his best.
