hi tumblr!
my third book, a novella called Verdilak, is now available.
Verdilak is a short interlude into the heads of Andrei and Rachel, two antagonists central to my first novel, King of Cups.
to purchase via Amazon, click here.
for all other major ebook retailers, including Kobo, B&N, Smashwords, and more - click here.
(and if you cannot afford/access any of these and still want to read it, just DM me and I’ll send it to you directly for free!)
(stay tuned for the paperback - coming soon!)
also, please enjoy the playlist that was put together to accompany it ♥️
Some bad things don't have names; others have a different name in every culture; a different face, slightly different lore, but it's all the same creature lurking at the bottom of it.
In this follow-up to King of Cups, Rachel and Andrei each seek answers.
credit to @redbelles for the cover art and chapter headers inside; credit to @majicmarker for developmental & line edits.

you cannot talk about the homophobic murder of jonathan joss without including in the conversation that he is indigenous.
american indian men are at the 2nd highest risk of death by murder compared to all other ethnic groups. in their lifetimes, 82% of native men report having experienced domestic violence. yet the overwhelming majority of perpetrators are non-natives (88% of native men and 92% of native women who reported violence said their attacker was non-native). what’s more, tribal governments are often stymied in their attempts to bring justice against non-natives, meaning that many of these cases go unresolved.
this was an intersectional attack. the fact that he is indigenous matters, even if the motivation was homophobic, because it made him even more vulnerable and disposable in the eyes of his killer.
as always, look into MMIWP to learn more, and speak up for us. miigwetch, take care

Transphobia is so antithetical to genuine feminism it blows my mind there's such a wide overlap like you either believe in autonomy and self determination or you don't

“Today’s society is no longer Foucault’s disciplinary world of hospitals, madhouses, prisons, barracks, and factories. It has long been replaced by another regime, namely a society of fitness studios, office towers, banks, airports, shopping malls, and genetic laboratories. Twenty-first-century society is no longer a disciplinary society, but rather an achievement society. Also, its inhabitants are no longer “obedience-subjects” but “achievement-subjects.” They are entrepreneurs of themselves.”
— Byung-chul Han, The Burnout Society
