𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒂 !

“Ah, Re—” Langa’s about to greet him back when he does what must be the most impressive wipe-out Langa has ever seen. Which is impressive, because Reki wipes out a lot. Langa’s hands go out as if to catch him, but it all happens so fast, and Langa is left with his arms hanging in the air and a concerned look on his face.

     “Reki…” His tone is chiding, but it’s not long before an affectionately wry smile tugs at his lips as Reki finds his footing again. “You’ve spent so much time on your board that you forgot how to walk,”  he says, and then leans in closer, squinting as his eyes roam over Reki’s face. “At least you didn’t get injured,” he says, reaching up to rub the pad of his thumb on a scrape on Reki’s cheek that is (thankfully) not bleeding. Langa affects a pout and turns away, as if he’s been insulted. “Or I wouldn’t be able to look at you all day.”

                                𝐑𝐄𝐊𝐈   𝐒𝐂𝐎𝐖𝐋𝐒   𝐀𝐒   𝐇𝐄   𝐏𝐔𝐒𝐇𝐄𝐒   himself   up   to   his   hands   &   knees,   groaning   lowly.   Yeah,   he’s   CLUMSY,   but   he   tries   not   to   make   a   huge   fool   of   himself   in   front   of   other   people   (   not   all   the   time,   anyways   ).   At   least   Langa   has   seen   him   do   FAR   WORSE   before   —   &   this   fall   hadn’t   hurt   much   more   than   his   pride.

                                Finally   straightening   again,   Reki   shakes   his   head   to   calm   the   wild   storm   of   hair   atop   his   head,   &   blinks   up   at   Langa   as   he   reaches   for   him.   The   contact   between   them   lightens   his   frown   into   a   slow   smile,   &   he   reaches   to   swat   Langa’s   hand   away   playfully   with   an   affectionate   glint   in   his   eye.   His   words   make   Reki   pause   in   his   tracks,   squinting   before   following   Langa   with   what   he   thinks   is   a   fairly   effective   comeback.                                 ❝   𝒀𝒐𝒖   𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘,   𝒊𝒇   𝑰   𝒈𝒐𝒕   𝒉𝒖𝒓𝒕,   𝒕𝒆𝒄𝒉𝒏𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚   𝒚𝒐𝒖   𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅   𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒌   𝒂𝒕   𝒎𝒆   𝑨𝑳𝑳   𝒅𝒂𝒚.   𝒀𝒐𝒖   𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘,   𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆,   𝒊𝒇   𝑰   𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅𝒏’𝒕   𝒎𝒐𝒗𝒆   ?   𝒀𝒐𝒖   𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅   𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕   𝒔𝒊𝒕   𝒃𝒚   𝒎𝒆   𝒂𝒏𝒅   𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒓   𝒕𝒐   𝒎𝒚   𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚   𝒘𝒉𝒊𝒎.   𝑰𝒕   𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅   𝒃𝒆   𝒔𝒖𝒑𝒆𝒓   𝒇𝒖𝒏,   𝑰   𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘   𝒚𝒐𝒖   𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅   𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆   𝒊𝒕.   ❞                                 He   hurries   a   few   steps   to   catch   up   with   him   again,   skateboard   tucked   under   his   arm.

                                 𝐑𝐄𝐊𝐈   𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐄𝐓𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐒   𝐎𝐔𝐓   𝐈𝐍   𝐓𝐇𝐄   𝐒𝐔𝐍   next   to   Langa   as   he   begins   to   unpack   his   lunch.   It’s   nice   outside   today   :   &   he’s   grateful,   because   he’d   asked   his   mom   to   pack   him   EXTRA   food   today,   &   now   he   has   a   warm   spot   to   eat   it,   too.   As   he   settles   in,   Reki   begins   to   lecture   Langa   on   the   importance   of   low   air   resistance   in   skateboarding   —   but   it   quickly   becomes   clear   that   he   isn’t   listening,   when   he   interrupts   him   with   a   proposition.

                                ❝  𝑯𝒖𝒉   ?   ❞                                 Reki   makes   a   noise   of   surprise,   eyes   widening   in   question   as   he   glances   over   to   Langa.   His   focus   settles   onto   the   pathetic   -   looking   sandwich   that   the   other   brandishes   towards   him,   &   Reki’s   brows   furrow.   He   clutches   his   bento   to   his   chest   defensively.                                 ❝   𝒀𝒐𝒖   𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒕   𝒎𝒆   𝒕𝒐   𝒆𝒂𝒕   𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕   ?   ❞

Reki is talking. Langa knows he’s talking and it’s probably something really important. More insight into skateboarding or some cool trick he found online or Reki’s (and therefore Langa’s) plans for the rest of the afternoon … But Langa is distracted. He’s watching Reki’s backpack and the bundle he pulls out. When Reki opens it to reveal his lunch, Langa’s eyes light up. He jabs one finger at Reki’s bento, and one can practically see the sparks of excitement coming off of him.

     “I’ll trade you.” He’s been waiting for this. He’s been planning his attack for weeks. Langa brandishes the sandwich he bought from the school cafeteria like a weapon, or perhaps a sacrifice.

                                ❝   𝑳𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒂   !   ❞                                   Reki’s   call   can   be   heard   from   across   the   street   where   he   meets   eyes   with   him,   wildly   waving   a   hand   over   his   head   in   greeting.   He   tosses   his   skateboard   down   off   of   the   sidewalk,   barely   looking   both   ways   as   he   zips   over   to   Langa,   a   huge   grin   stuck   on   his   face   as   he   does.   Reki   stops   in   front   of   him,   toeing   his   board   to   pick   it   up   again,   &   moves   to   step   up   onto   the   sidewalk,   but   instead   pays   a   little   too   much   attention   to   his   boyfriend’s   face   &   not   enough   to   where   he’s   stepping.   He   faceplants   unceremoniously   into   the   concrete.
