“I’m not blaming you.” Natsuki pauses. “I think.” That begged the question of what sort of sayings and traditions he was used to-- ah, just what was he, anyway? Maybe there isn’t a way to ask about that without it sounding rude. “If it’s any consolation, even we don’t understand each other. It’s kind of a problem.”

Ha-- so, he’s creeped out? That makes her smile, grin, laugh a little. “I didn’t mean it weird, Tohno-san. Sorry if it makes you feel old.” Wait-- huh? But he keeps drinking that... Natsuki narrows her eyes at him. “Then, what’s the point of that? You must really like the flavoring!”
“But yeah, you humans certainly have weird things and all. I’ve lived a long time but I can’t fully understand you,” he shrugged and heaved a sigh as he took another serving of the drink.
“Unlike you, my regeneration, fortunately or unfortunately, prevents me from being drunk,” he shivered slightly at being called a parental unit. It’s been a while since he was a parent, after all.
“Don’t start calling me your father. That’s creepy.”

On the bright side, there did seem to be a path that she could follow for a while that wouldn’t prove to be too rough-- hm? Violet eyes shifted to blink at the cupcake being presented. Was it more than one? The girl had said ‘these’... Oh. Looking at the whole of her, it wasn’t her cupcake that she was holding out, but-- ah! Her fingers splayed over her mouth in surprise, the shock eliciting her out of her blank stare. Those were...! “My shoes!” Treading up to the girl with careful steps, Natsuki stopped before her and bowed her head. “Thank you. You’ve saved me from a horrible walk home. Walking those streets... Disease might not be out of the question from that alone...” She took her shoes with a smile and began to slip them on once again. “Um,” Natsuki offered the girl glances in between straps. “Were you leaving? Or just getting here? I don’t think I’ve seen you tonight-- although, there are a lot of people...”
She had to use another one of her old enchantments to assume this new form, but the process had been relatively painless. Even her clothes and accessories fit the criteria for this party, so there was no need to hassling with buying a silly dress.
Being taller and with no wings or pointy ears for people to stare at was also a bonus.

Airy wandered about the building with no clear destination in mind. Sure, she’d grabbed a cupcake from the snack table and waved at some guests, but she was pretty much bored out of her skull. The only ‘exciting’ thing that had happened so far was her almost tripping over this pair of shoes someone had seemingly left by a bench. She strolled away from the main festivities to find somewhere to dump them.
…Now what was that girl doing over there all alone? Airy spied on her before she noticed how fixated she was on her own two feet.
“You there… Did you lose these?“ She held out the pair of shoes with her free hand.

Something more taxing? Natsuki almost physically balked. Strenuous tasks weren’t her favorite and she started to regret getting herself involved. It was about then that she made the decision to find Patrick once this was all over and discuss compensation for her heroics.
“... Ah!” It appeared that she wasn’t being given much time to back out on her agreement, so she did stumble along beside him, biting back a sharper gasp all the while. “Maybe you should seriously reconsider the qualifications you’ve somehow given me...! Where are we going?!”
“Music to my ears,” rather pleased that though she displayed some hesitance at the start that in the end she did come to budge and chose to accept the offer. The power of guilt, what it could do to a person — it made Kal’s day sometimes. “Why of course you’re qualified, you won’t be out there though.” Decision made to make that as clear as day to her. “I need you for something else. Something a bit more taxing.” Thumb and index finger neared in proximity by their tips to emphasize what he meant, paces taken towards her.
“Now come with me, there is much to be done!” In his voice there seemed to be cheer, no time wasted in taking her wrist within his hold to begin leading the way to the place of interest.

Natsuki can see where the issue is. Decision is decidedly more difficult when there’s a variety of choice and this much food maxes out any frustration an indecisive person could have. Luckily for the both of them, Natsuki’s boons don’t have ‘indecisive’ among them! “I might just be able to direct you.” She gives the other a small smile, only looking slightly affronted by the world of foods available for selection. “Let’s see-- do you want something more sweet, spicy, savory, or salty?”
@sukijanai
It’s with a certain worry that Hakuei beholds the buffet laid out in front of her. The amount of food available is certainly impressive, but also a bit overwhelming. She doesn’t know what to choose, and the fact that most of the options are unfamiliar or entirely foreign to her doesn’t help matters.
❝Pardon me, miss?❞ She calls out to a young girl after a few moments of quiet contemplation. ❝I was wondering if you have any recommendations as to what I could get from this buffet - I’d love to taste something new, but with such a wide array of options I don’t really know where to start.❞

Hmf. Natsuki’s stifled laughter comes through as a sort of giggle-- “That’s optimistic. Are you trying to say you haven’t had your share of horrific experiences? Not one bad apple of a girl you’ve come across?” Oh! He knows what he’s doing. She’s taken aback a bit, admittedly, but this does make it easier to follow along-- after all, she’s not terribly experienced with dance. Maybe it shows when she fumbles in her steps there. “Ah, sorry. You’re-- very good!”
“Of course. I would never remember a lady by that horrid way. Rather, I’d remember them by how lovely thier personality is.” He explains, heading over the dancefloor without a care, holding his hand out for her once they arrived.
While the song was slow, Zelnite knew how to change his dancing accordingly. He took the lead quickly, keeping a friendly smile on his face. It was already off to a good start.

He wasn’t getting it. She felt partially at fault for her lack of clarity, but maybe it was better this way. “You know... Like don’t ask, don’t tell. It’s the same thing.” Sort of. Kind of. Not really.

“Moderate...” Natsuki crossed her arms, staring at him straight before lapsing into a small bout of laughter. “Yes, Parental Unit! Do you practice what you preach? How’s moderation working for you?”
“Why would you need to speak the unspoken rule for it to be spoken?” That just sounds like a contradiction on its own, really. Unless he wasn’t able to grasp the culture of human. He did spend thousands of years alongside them but things were different from place to place.
“Well, I’m not really going to stop you but you should moderate yourself. I’m not going to be responsible for you if you get drunk.”

It was as Muffet had said, then-- some people really had been here for long periods of time. The sound of five months wasn’t excruciating, but... it was a good while. But he seems annoyed, so she won’t comment on the obvious. “I could always use more answers. Thank you for complying~.” Oh. Is this friend of his actually a really dangerous criminal? But a man who uses Kick Me signs... “Is this guy really real? How does someone go about looking for him, with his nicknames and secret treasures...”

:: “You sure ask a lot of questions.” he grumbles. “I’ve been here for about 5 months. Yes, I’ve gotten through most of it alone.”
Yuura sighs, expecting nonetheless from the girl. He wondered just how long it would have been until she asked. “He stole an entire country’s treasury within a single night. And soon enough, decided that wasn’t enough. But who am I to tell you; you should find the guy himself.”

He did give his name-- “Zelnite...” Another name that was foreign on her tongue, and the pronunciation was made the best she could manage. “Nakagawa Natsuki!” The music was decidedly not too slow a pace-- which would work well here. For all her trouble-making talk, Natsuki wasn’t ready to slow dance with a stranger. She offered Zelnite a hand and a smile. “Please remember me by my name and not the number of times I step on your feet!”
“Well, to be honest, it’s not my best.” He hums, watching her take her step forward. Huh, so it had some effect. His lips curve upwards, almost forming a smirk. This girl was an interesting one. “I’m not one to push boundaries, my lady. A single dance only.” he repeats, moving to her side.
“My name? Oh, how silly of me to forget. Call me Zelnite. And who do I have the pleasure of dancing with?”

“They said the selection was wide and varied--...” She knew there wouldn’t be, but his response seemed too honest. He had some understanding about their culture then...? Natsuki hadn’t immediately caught that, easily forgetting he wasn’t the same as her because of his outward appearance. She frowned. “Hm... But then it’s not enforced until it’s spoken!” She wouldn’t break the rules, but--
“If you’re looking for milkshake, I don’t think this is the best place for it.”
“I wouldn’t really know about that. But isn’t that just something you humans deem as some kind of unspoken rule or something?” His words implied that he was not human. Well, she already knew that anyway.

Busted. The creakiest turn was reenacted as she turned in her chair again, this time with a telling look of regret creasing her smile. “Um...” Well, now that she could properly look at the rest of him, she could officially reaffirm that he had the look of someone not to be trifled with. Is that what she was doing? Trifling? Fingertips drummed the surface of her table as she seriously hoped not. “Um,” Natsuki began again, this time raising both hands and wiggling her fingers. “Um... Um...!” She was halfway there, and caution had misguided her into an unforeseen event-- not being able to finish her thought!
It was amusement that was really what he was feeling, all nestled behind quite the neutral frown. It was always something that brought about interest and mirth, when he would see reactions or eyes shifting to his tattoos. There was some pride in them after all.
He decided to speak when he picked up a creaky turn. Maybe there was a little rabbit to be spooked.
“Is there something I’m missing?
Or is there something so eye catching you can’t stop looking?”
Nice and vague, just in case he was reading too much into the situation.

Although the prolonged, stunned silence unnerved her just a bit, Natsuki was still able to give Patrick a passing wink as he made his way to the exit, turning her head just so to conceal it from the scary-looking manager. That’d be her good deed of the day! “Ah, the refreshme--”

Patrick was gone. The abandoned set up of drinks sparkled in the distance, and Natsuki sighed, her attention being pulled to the man by the chair. Really, what a way to confront your employees... She didn’t want to become such an employee. “Er... I’m not sure I’m very qualified for this kind of work. I do have a background in cashiering! But...” The guilt of interrupting disrupted her flow of thought. Damn. “... I... suppose... if you really need it...”
For mere instances Kal simply settled with staring at the young girl in clear disbelief and so did the waiter apparently. Did she seriously believe he was some type of management figure of this place? The silence was unbearable and all that was truly missing was for a tumbleweed to bounce its merry way by with a slight breeze, but of course that is far too comical of a sight. For a moment Kal wanted to say are you serious, however refrained and chose to play along for the sake of the situation. “Why of course, how foolish of me. Go on ahead Patrick they need you out there,” the waiter eyed Kal as if offended. His name was not Patrick. “Just remember what I told you,” was added and to the menacing look given to him the waiter was quick to bob his head and depart from the kitchen. “As you can clearly see,” after a pause he spoke once more.
“I am extremely short on personnel, how’s about you lend me a hand and help me out, hm?” Double edged meaning behind smooth felt words that bid farewell from his lips when he turned to look in her general direction. Still caught quite off guard by her vague accusation prior. Did he look the part or something? He highly doubted it. Laughable came to mind, the people of this place — just laughable.

“A hero. A true hero. I don’t know many brave people that could stand up to that fierce rat in the way that he did. But he might be on the side of trouble, getting wounded like he was when we first met.“I bet if his teeth were less filed, he would seem less like a delinquent…”

“Baek-san is… stern’s not the right word. If I had to place her in a spot between a blistering heat wave and the next ice age, then maybe she’s the iceberg that sank the Titanic?“Ah, but with all due respect. It’s not like the iceberg did it intentionally, but it wasn’t going to help the ship either. Hm. This sounds more harsh than it is…”

Violet eyes flicker in short bewilderment when he rustles his cloak, but realizing that’s all it is usurps a small pit of guilt in Natsuki’s stomach-- how could she think he would hurt her after he’d gone out of his way to give her direction? “But you said you’re a weapon,” she tries slowly when her comfort returns, eyebrow raising in a challenge. “And you’re right here--”

He’s reaching for something? No-- he’s looking at something. His demeanor as a whole makes a chill run down her spine and the dread returns; was there something of danger (or someone) behind them? She should have listened to him to start... “Wait! You too, then! Didn’t you say so? I can’t walk around here without an onig-- a weapon...!”
“I’m–” Yamanbagiri starts, but stops when he realized she was right. He quickly draws his cloak close, the fabric brushing against her arms thanks to the proximity between them.
Not an onigiri? Really a weapon? It was too much talking to answer each question, so he decided to answer neither.
“I’ll be fine either way! You, though–”
“–you’re walking in this part of town without any weapons. That’s just asking for trouble.”
A hand instinctively reached out to curl around her shoulder (like what he’d do to Brother, like what Brother’d do for him) before Yamanbagiri catches himself and withdraws. A light furrow works its way between his eyebrows as he glances somewhere behind her shoulders.
“Just…just go!” If they made too much noise, they were apt to attract unwanted attention here.

“You mean it’s not a milkshake?”

Natsuki grinned before feigning disinterest, looking to see if she could tiptoe to peer into his cup. “That depends on who you ask. Does this city have those kind of rules?”
“Hm?” He turned to the where the voice came from as he was already downing his drink.
“Heh, I think you’re a bit too young for this kind of drink, don’t you think?”
