On a late afternoon, we observed two cute ears of this Indian Grey Wolf that were popping out from the tall and lush grasses through a distance. But we couldn’t see it’s face or body because of the size of the grasses there. And there was a foul smell coming from very near our vehicle, so we thought that maybe the wolf had made a kill somewhere near our vehicle (which was just towards the right side of our vehicle). Then we thought of waiting right where we were to see if the wolf would make any move. After waiting for 15 to 20 minutes, we saw the wolf had started to move and was coming straight towards our direction. It slowly approached near our vehicle and walked towards our right, and there it started to drag its kill (it was a sheep kill) across and into the tall, lush grasses. Then it stopped right in the middle, where it started to savor its meal. At one instance it looked straight at us, making eye contact; it tears the meat part by part!!!. Ahhh, one of my finest wildlife moments!!!

It was thrilling to witness an Indian Grey Wolf, a gem of the Deccan Plateau, at sunset, when the sun’s golden rays illuminated its striking eyes and dense coat.

I consider myself fortunate to have able to witness Indian Wolf in its natural habitat since, their numbers are declining primarily as a result of habitat loss.

It was one early morning, where sun was just rising…a leopardess came out of a cave with her little cub to bask in the morning sun. That moment where the leopardess and her cub came to the shimmering golden light of morning sun felt so magical!!
