Part 6: Tanned/Sunburnt skin compared to an Orange First of all: Sunburned skin needs to heal first, before any procedure can be done. If you love being out in the sun, and especially if you have sun damaged skin; microblading will not be a good option for you. Avoid sun/ tanning bed exposure for 30 days BEFORE and AFTER your procedure. If you show up for your appointment with a new tan or a sunburn, you will need to reschedule and will forfeit your deposit. As your skin exfoliates from a sunburn, it will take the tattoo pigment with it. After your procedure DO NOT come in contact with UV exposure (including tanning booths) for at least a week Exposure to the sun and tanning beds can cause fading and discoloration of the pigment. Once completely healed, always apply sunscreen (50 SPF or greater) on brow area. PMU brows whether it be Microblading, combo brows, ombré and full powder is a must-have procedure, especially during the summertime. before summer comes is the best time to do it not during the summer time of course though!! Flawless brows are yours no matter how many dips in the ocean you take or how sweaty your skin gets! Ever wondered how celebs and models emerge from the pool or leave the gym with a photo-ready face? I am willing to bet a number of them have undergone brow treatments like mine. Overview: If you are not already wearing sunscreen every day, you should definitely start. And if you already wear an SPF every day, good for you! However, you will want to avoid applying it directly to your brows the first week seven days following your microblading/Powder Effect (Microshading) procedure. After one week, you can (and should!) begin putting sunscreen directly on top of your new brows to protect them from fading. We recommend SPF 35 or higher! Until you make it to the 7-day mark, however, avoid exposure to sunlight, and wear a hat when you do step outside. Exposing skin directly to sunlight for hours can lead to skin trauma, so although moisturizing is encouraged, adding other products for after-sun care with shooting properties, is highly recommended. Part 5: Combination Skin compared to a Clementine Why not microblading? Why not shading? Should I get both ?? Take a look here: If your skin is combination like mine it is LIKE oily skin in certain areas but like dry skin in others!!! The hardest part of being combination is that your foot is in two worlds!! Your skin - it may not hold onto the Microblading pigment well due to the method of implantation. Powder Fill, Combo Brows, or Nano Brows are more suited to Oily skin types, with much greater success for pigment retention with this special skin type, as the pigment is implanted a bit deeper than Microblading allows. ​ If you regularly fill your own brows with Brow Pencil/Brow Powder, and like a very defined look, the natural hairstroke look of Microblading is likely not going to heal as bold as you'd like it to. Either Blade&Shade, Powdered Brows, or Combo Brows will likely suit your tastes much better, and ensure you're satisfied with your healed brows. If you're unsure of which style will suit you best in this case, please contact us with a photo of your desired brow look once healed (either how you currently fill them, or a picture of your dream brows along with a picture of your own brows), and we'll help talk you through your realistic options to ensure you choose the most suitable procedure for your ultimate goal. ​ If you have previously permanently tattooed eyebrows, unless they are very faded, microblading may not work to cover them up, or you may need multiple sessions to do so. Powder Fill or Combo Brows more successfully conceal previous PMU work, hair strokes alone may not hide the old work effectively enough. ​ ***If you have a tendency to not take care of your skin or have the patience for the healing process - PMU Brows are NOT for you!!! Part 4: Oily Skin Compared to a Lemon Oily skin requires special skin care and special considerations when microblading. If you know you have oily skin, read this first! It sounds a little weird — like the signature teeny dots found in Roy Lichtenstein's iconic art — and at first, the result looks like what you'd get if you drew on your brows with harsh lines. But in about a week, the block of color fades, giving way to a softer, fuller looking arch. So, why go with microshading over microblading? Personally I say it’s better for sensitive or oily skin. I recommend microshading for clients with oily skin because the microshading technique takes better to their skin type Like microblading, it can be performed with a hand tool (not a machine), though it can also be gently completed with a machine. But unlike microblading, the artist recreates a powder or ombre look instead of individual hairstrokes. Oily skin is naturally more hydrated and supple. It tends to age very nicely however excess oil may clog pores more quickly. Very oily skin is also prone to larger pores. Oily skin will heal the most soft. microbladed hair strokes will heal more powdery as opposed to the dry skin type for example who’s microblading will heal very crisp. How oily your skin is will make a difference. Slight oiliness will heal more like normal skin, while extremely oily skin will heal much softer and the color will be more spread out. A well-trained microblading artist will know to place the strokes farther apart on a client with oily skin to minimize how much the hair strokes spread into each other once healed. that’s why it may not be the best treatment for anyone who needs a fuller 👀 please put some comments below of anything I may have missed or things that you have questions about that I can answer for you!! Part 3: Dry Mature Skin Compared to a Pepper 🫑 Welcome to the third stage of my skin type explanation and comparison of different permanent make up techniques for you as the potential client What can permanent makeup do for mature skin? The most obvious benefit of semi-permanent makeup is the fact there’s no need to apply regular makeup every day for 1.5 to 3 years. This is how long PMU effects last and the pigments are retained in the skin. PMU is useful for saving time, but it could also make the lives of older women easier. Deteriorating eyesight can make makeup application complicated and frustrating, as can hand tremor, the two essentially harmless, but inconvenient symptoms of ageing. As we age, the notion of body image and the desire to look (and feel) our best doesn’t vanish, nor should it. Permanent makeup for the mature woman can have great physical and phychological benefits and elevate the quality of life. How skin can change in your 60s and 70s Everyone ages differently, but during this time in your life, you may notice that your skin is: ◦ Drier ◦ Thinner and starting to look paper-like ◦ Itchy ◦ Developing more age spots, wrinkles, and creases ◦ Blotchier ◦ Irritated easily ◦ More susceptible to skin infections ◦ Bruising more easily ◦ Sweating less ◦ Healing more slowly Permanent makeup is a great way for older women and men to minimize or reverse some of the effect of ageing. When life gives you lemons 🍋(or clementines , bananas 🍌 peppers 🫑 or oranges 🍊 ), tattoo them!!!! Tattooing fruit has been around for ages and is often one of the initial practices a mentor suggests to his or her apprentice. There are a few challenges one faces when tattooing fruit: Its shape, its texture, its take to ink. While honeydew melon is great for line work on a body piece and offers a decent size to play with, it is not ideal to practice shading. Honeydew is however believed to be the most similar to that of human skin. Grapefruits, oranges and lemons have like textures ESPECIALLY on the face where we are most porous 🧽 and were used when tattoos were still largely taboo, but the ink frequently bleeds when overworked... JUST LIKE THE FACE !!! Keeping the piece of fruit steady is difficult, of course, but any great artist will find his or her way around it in time. If done right and plenty, tattooing fruit can offer some of the best tattoo training without the pressure of f... fudging up.
