Copiapoa cinerea var eremophila.
A controversial grouping as this C. eremophila shares similarities with C. hasletoniana and C. gigantea.
I am the third person to keep this plant in collection and so continue to attach this designation out of deference to my predecessors.
If kept well, this plant will easily outlive me and those who come after.
