Do you ever feel like you are alone on a sinking ship with a single bucket, and no matter how much water you dump back out of your boat, there's always more coming in? Imagine the same situation, but this time with a whole team of people ready to help you unload water, patch holes to stop more water from coming in, and teach you new ways to make sure your boat is safe and ready for travel. Struggling with mental illness and addiction can feel totally overwhelming and isolating, but you don't have to do it alone. SUN Behavioral Houston is here to help.
Our team of experts will get to know you and your individual situation and needs. After we get to know you as a person we will customize your treatment programs and support services to fit you as an individual, no matter your age, gender, or the severity of your mental health condition. Our programs are available as inpatient, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and telehealth.
How We Meet Unsolved Needs
SUN Behavioral Houston is dedicated to solving the unmet needs of people struggling with mental illness and addiction in Houston and the surrounding areas. Everything we do is done with safety, teamwork, integrity, and compassion in mind for all involved.
Treatment Options at SUN Behavioral Health
At SUN Behavioral Houston, we know that no two patients have identical experiences, so why would we make their treatments identical? While each patient's treatment is tailored to their individual needs, it will include a combination of treatment options.
We offer a number of different therapies. We offer Group Psychotherapy, which helps patients to realize they aren’t alone while getting support, a sense of community, and suggestions to aid with recovery from those with similar experiences. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) addresses the thought patterns and beliefs that lead to behaviors and teaches how to modify them. Recreational Therapy encourages patients to express themselves in creative ways and ease symptoms of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. Pet Therapy reduces the symptoms of anxiety and depression.
Recovery isn't just about therapy. We also offer other services that help our patients become their best selves. Constant nursing care, as well as psychiatrists and nurse practitioners, helps patients overcome the detoxification process. Life skills and healthy-living groups help prepare patients for life after recovery. Stress management helps patients learn how to reduce the stress in their life and deal with stressors without turning to harmful coping mechanisms. Mindfulness and problem-solving help patients to be self-aware and think critically to solve problems in their life after treatment. Yoga helps patients relax, and teaches them to take care of their whole selves.
Accreditation and Partnerships
We are a proud recipient of the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Accreditation, which recognizes SUN Behavioral for demonstrating continuous compliance with The Joint Commission's performance standards.
