imagining a postcanon scenario in which wei wuxian and lan wangji play a TTRPG. kind of sad to only have 2 players so let’s say that some of the lan juniors join as well.
lan wangji is the DM. In a fit of spite, he introduces a minor antagonist NPC who is clearly just jiang cheng with the serial numbers filed off.
contrary to his expectations, though, all of his players - wei wuxian included - immediately get attached to this NPC. furthermore, even though this NPC is meant to be an antagonist, wei wuxian gets creative enough with his gaming and lucky enough with his dice rolls to actually save the NPC from his fate and turn him over to the side of the protagonists.
so now the NPC is a beloved member of the player team. furthermore, wei wuxian complains if lan wangji deviates too much from the characterization he initially established for this NPC, so lan wangji can’t even change the NPC's personality that much.
lan wangji tries several times to write the NPC out of the story. he has the NPC settle down with a wife and leave the adventuring scene, only for wei wuxian to point out that the NPC is not charismatic enough to land a wife. he has the NPC go into hiding to escape some enemies, only for the players to immediately gank said enemies. he has the NPC just up and leave - except then wie wuxian and the other players immediately get themselves into a potentially game-ending pinch, forcing lan wangji to bring back the NPC (who is the only available party to pull off an “arrival of the cavalry” moment) in order to save their asses.
finally, lan wangji gets fed up and, in a fit of pure rage, kills off the NPC.
in their next session, wei wuxian's character invents necromancy.

with love. you have to fact check shit. yes you. you still have to fact check shit. a lot of people are great at fact checking stuff they don’t want to be true, but somehow are still absolute ass at fact checking stuff that’s rhetorically convenient to them. even people my age, who I KNOW grew up doing internet/bibliography literacy workshops, and being warned not to believe anything that isn’t reliably sourced, people who DO harp on fact checking conservative output or whatever, are still kneejerk sharing unsourced shit that is partially or wholly untrue or misleading, because it suits whatever narrative they’re pursuing in that moment, without even a “take this with a grain of salt”. fact check!!!!!! look at the sources!!!!! yes it’s a drag!!! do it!!!!!

oh by the way, in Danish, "fag" means "subject" and "slut" means "end" so on library shelves you will see "fag slut" to note where the break in book topics is

pronounced fay' sloot
