Almost as if she hadn’t heard, she carried on, fingertips busying themselves in her needlework, picking && unpicking, she just couldn’t get it right. Her poor fingertips would be painted red by the end of this. Still, soft gaze was kept forward, refusing to meet his own.  Unflinching as the silence seemed to tumble over. One long breath followed another, && then another. The only noise seemed to be her own heartbeat threatening to break against her ribcage. Surely he could hear it too?   It was refusing to slow, it was refusing to brake.

 “--- NO.” Finally, raspy words fell from trembling lips, her voice too low, too soft. SEVEN, she hated how soft it sounded, she hated how weak she seemed. So she spoke again.  “No, Willas, no.”  Shaking her hair to && fro, soft locks escaped her golden hairnet. She knew what the reports had said, that no one had found Garlan, that he’d been lost amidst the battle. But, surely if he was with the seven they would have found his body, they would have returned him to her, to his home. “----He’s not gone, he’s not gone Willas!” There was more urgency now, but still no tears, she couldn’t she couldn’t break down && weep, she couldn’t allow the darkest fears to grace her mind or touch upon her tongue, she couldn’t let them be real. (At least not until there was no other choice.)  “If he’s gone, if my Garlan is dead I would have felt it, I would know it. “  Garlan, her Garlan had promised her a lifetime, a life to build together.
