HOW DO WE INTERACT?

IF YOU'RE NOT AN ASCIAN/THE WOL/A SCION: You can't tell Ceres is an Ascian. She definitely knows better than to act like one or allude to shit she shouldn't know about. In most cases, appears to be just like any mortal/Hyur. She isn't a fighter and will often shy away from anything dangerous.

In most cases, she will stick to community centers, markets, and pubs to listen for the latest gossip and goings-on of the world. It isn't difficult to strike up a conversation with her.

She isn't bubbly or perky or outwardly friendly, but if you approach her with a casually laid-back attitude, or are doing something worthy of note, she'll be open to interacting. When she is on the Source, Ceres does her best to avoid other Ascians, since she hasn't reported in since the Third Calamity.

IF YOU'RE AN ASCIAN: Fuck, she doesn't want to talk to you if she can help it. She really prefers to keep a low profile and tries not to get noticed or sent off on missions. She used to report to Nabriales but hey, he's not around anymore, right? She'll do what she's told if given an order from a higher ranking Ascian, but definitely comes off as the type who's trying to ditch work out of laziness.

AGAIN, PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF MY NO 'GODMODDING' RULE. If your Muse immediately can tell Ceres is suspicious in our thread, I will drop it. If you want to figure her out eventually, that's fine, but it cannot be instant. There is no fun in playing a muse who can be 'defeated' within 3 posts.

I will make it obvious, i.e drop hints in meta and write in tags/ooc if there's a viable reason or chance for your muse to notice something! And you can always pitch ideas/ask questions or ask me to rewrite or adjust my post if need be. You just have to communicate it!

Shortly after Reda'nüe absorbs the Shards of Azem from the Third and the Sixth, she and Ceres travel to the yet-untouched Reflection of the Eleventh. While they continue their search for the next Shard of Azem, the Warrior of Light destroys Zodiark on the Source's Moon.

Ceres is able to sense this dramatic shift, and returns to the Source for the first time in forever to casually poke around and see what the other Ascians are doing. But she can't find of the any others, and she ends up spending months listening for what the hell is going on. She eventually learns of the Scions and that, apparently, their Warrior of Light defeated the god of all evil...on the moon?

She returns to Reda on the Eleventh to report her findings, and then heads up to the Eleventh's moon to see what she can find there. What she finds is the Eleventh's Watcher investigating the site, so she goes back to Reda again to ask for her assistance.

Reda joins her on the moon and attacks the Watcher long enough for Ceres to drop into the chasm containing the remnants of that piece of Zodiark's aether...and absorbs it herself.

Like all black-masked low-level Ascians, Ceres was only given just enough of her past life memories to convince her of the truth of the Ancients. Basically -- just a vibrant, happy memory of her life as Hera. She doesn't have any other memories otherwise, so any knowledge of interpersonal relationships is nonexistent.

VERSES.

ASCIAN. Ceres' main verse, picking up where the story post leaves off: Ceres and Reda'nüe travel between and settle upon a reflection, seeking its shard of Azem. They often disguise themselves and, on occasion, part ways to cover more ground as they seek the world's chosen. They have recently arrived on the Source (or the First), likely due to being unable to avoid other Ascians on the other Reflections.

ANCIENT. The Ancient Hera is a competent public service worker, essentially bored by her office job but enjoying time spent off the clock in an otherwise perfect world. She lives in the utopian city of Idyllis and, although far from Amaurot and the Convocation, enjoys the whispers of gossip that come from the capital city.

MINION. The time during which Ceres, a black-masked low-ranking Ascian, serves under Nabriales and does his bidding in order to usher the Second to its end. It is possible, however, that he told her to go to the Source instead...

I personally headcanon that Ceres and Yotsuyu are shards of the Ancient Hera. I don't see that actually coming up in any threads, but still. Fun fact!

Keeping it simple because most of these should be a no-brainer!

My name's Lanna. I'm 30+, she/her in PST timezone. This is a sideblog to my WOL @vierandancer. Like that blog, I am open to interactions with anyone but reserve my right to be choosy as far as inspiration and whether or not certain writing styles/muns/muses would gel with me. However I am not limited to mutuals with my main blog.

Ceres is based off of my OC Celene. Celene's non-FF14 ask blog for all other sorts of interactions can be found @celenehart. I'd love interactions over there too, but if not that's OK!

As the Pinned says, there will be spoilers abound for Ascian-related stuff and I'm not going to tag it! Outside of maybe a little bit of embellishment around the original black-masked Ascians/unspoken for Ascians, everything is pretty canon compliant.

Ceres is a villain. I do not condone what she does (most of the time). I also do not condone god-modding. She isn't a strong Ascian and therefore will avoid fights, but she isn't a pushoever, either! If we get into a conflict or fight of some kind, you need to talk with me OOC via tags or IMs to keep things fair to both Muses. I will drop a thread if someone just starts over-assuming actions or information. I won't waste my energy trying to explain basic etiquette to you.

Ceres is my sideblog, so although I am hype to write with her, I won't commit to really long threads without some sort of plotting. I refuse to carry the plot by myself. If you have questions or ideas, please communicate with me!

If you write an Ascian/Ancient and want to interact, please keep the following in mind: Amaurotines/the Convocation would not know Hera and Ascians do not know of Ceres' little side plot right off the bat. Maybe a handful of people would recognize her as one of Nabriales' subordinates, and likely would be able to recognize a fellow Ascian, but CERES AND HER MOTIVES/HERA IN ANCIENT TIMES ARE ENTIRELY UNKNOWN. The only person who would possibly know if her is Nabriales, and I don't see many blogs floating about. If you have ideas, please reach out to me first about them!

STORY.

Ceres hails from the Second reflection of the Source, a Sapiana (hyur) citizen of the oligarchy Empyrca (Ul'Dah) from a well-off family. One day, she returned home to discover her parents had engaged her to an older man while she wasn't present to defend herself, as their riches had been drained due to her father's gambling problems and her suitor promised to refill their coffers in exchange for a young bride.

Ceres refused and fled her home, only to realize the futility of it all as she wandered the streets of her city without anything to her name. She considered ending her life in protest of it all, not wanting to wallow in poverty or others' pity, but was suddenly approached a masked man introducing himself as Nabriales. He enticed her with the promise of never feeling helpless again, and upon her agreement, awoke the memories of her past life as the Ancient called Hera.

Hera had been an Ancient who lived in one of the many cities scattered across the Unsundered World, far from yet still obeying the laws of the Convocation of the Fourteen. She contributed to the world in her public service position, ensuring that communications to and from others went undisturbed. Ultimately, though, she lived a rather easygoing life in a beautiful utopia -- and, therefore, strongly supported the Convocation's desires to restore it to what it once was. And, upon seeing what she could have as opposed to the nothing she was now left with, how could Ceres do anything but join the Ascian's ranks?

Unfortunately, it turned out that she was made to be the lowest rank of Ascians: she had her past memories, the knowledge of the Ascians' grander scheme, and their nigh limitless powers -- but she could not obtain immortality by switching physical bodies and was nowhere near as strong as anyone above her. She couldn't even get stronger if she tried; as someone who had not been part of the Convocation, there was no way for her to ever be more than what she was.

Also, Nabriales was a obnoxious prick whom she quickly came to despise, but had no choice but to obey him lest she be unmade. She did is bidding, manipulated others to help push the Second's chosen hero into dangerous situations and tilt the balance of the elements -- all the while being far more careful not to actually face the infamous 'Warrior of the Wake.'

And when Nabriales achieved his mission, tipping the scales so that endless fires ravaged the world, she watched him depart without a single concern for any of the minor Ascians he had made. She could have easily teleported away, as many of her fellows did, but instead she remained and observed the defeated hero.

Reda'nüe was not the heroic type. She was self-centered and not above hurting others to further her own gains. She was also incredibly powerful -- far more than Ceres herself. As the Ascian turned it over in her mind, she decided to take a risk. She teleported both herself and Reda'nüe to a (temporarily) safer location, where she offered up the knowledge that she had. All of it.

"There's no saving your world now. It will be consumed by flame and lost within hours. But you don't need to go with it."

"And you can always grow stronger. You'd just need a little help from your fellow shards. I can take you to the other reflections. We can find them together."

Nabriales did not care enough to keep track of the minor Ascian lackeys who did his bidding, and the Unsundered only made note of the collapse of the Second as a whole on the path to Zodiark's restoration. Ceres, weak as she was in comparison, had now found an ally in a shard of Azem -- a powerful one, now content to survive by absorbing the souls of her fellows.

For a time, they have been able to operate quietly and avoid crossing paths with the other Ascians. It takes a very long time to locate your soultwin on an entire world, but they have succeeded twice now. Reda'nüe has absorbed the heroes of the Third and Sixth worlds, consequently paving the way for those worlds to fall to the Ascians.
