I always had trouble with Hansel and Gretel. It was supposed to be a story about “stranger danger” - but the scariest thing about Hansel & Gretel is that the kids actually have no choice in their situation. They’re lost and hungry, their parents can’t afford to take care of them, and the only adult they can turn to is a cannabalistic witch. Anyhoo.
