OneNote is literally god’s gift to this earth. [ header art ]
I downloaded OneNote onto my mac air through my school’s office365 [which is a microsoft email login thing but is easily accessible on any kind of device and you can just delete the email acc later if you want]. OneNote can be accessed on a laptop, computer or ipad/tablet. i believe OneNote is available on the appstore as well?
I use OneNote as a digital bullet journal / planner and to write down all my study notes. i also have actual books for my study notes but i tend to prefer OneNote.
OneNote is super easy to use! think of it like an actual book:
1. DESIGNING THE COVER
When you open OneNote for the first time it will ask you to create a Notebook. You can name it whatever you wish and even choose the colour of it! You can have as many Notebooks as you like, so go wild !!
2. CHAPTERS
In your Notebook, you can have “chapters”, called sections or tabs. Depending on whether you use OneNote as a bujo or for study notes, these tabs can look like this:
3. PAGES
Time to fill your chapters! These pages will contain all of your content. Whether that’s a weekly spread in your bujo or a page on DNA molecules in your humanbio Notebook. You can have as many as you want! Pages on OneNote tend to look like this:
Once you click on which page you want, it’ll open !
4. SPREADS [for planners]
Spreads are completely personalised and customised depending on you! Anything you do in your physical bujo you can do on OneNote. Habit checker? Tables? Homework diary? Inspirational quotes? Cute doodles? Day-to-Day planner?
This is just an example of mine, you can do WHATEVER YOU WANT with yours !!
5. STUDY NOTES
My study notes are basically just what my teacher says during class or puts on the board, which is why they’re almost always in bullet point form like this:
But obviously, you can edit your notes to be however youd like them !!
6. OTHER INFO
One feature i really like about one note is the fact you can make the paper look like whatever you want. such as blank paper, margined + lined paper, graph paper etc. this is really helpful when writing notes and especially drawing diagrams !!
also, across the top is literally everything you’ll ever need.
IN CONCLUSION:
Please download OneNote !! it’s so user-friendly and customisable. I was honestly shocked that more people weren’t using OneNote in the studyblr community. It’s such a lifesaver near test + exam time because all of your notes are in one place !!
also, OneNote autosaves and doesnt close if you close your laptop [as long as you’re not logged out or the computer is shut down] so you’ll never lose your work !!
HERE is another post about me yelling about OneNote lmao
If you have any questions or problems, feel free to ask !! ((-:

You are studying to teach us all.
You are studying to improve global communication.
You are studying to improve the environment.
You are studying so we learn from the past.
You are studying so technology progresses.

Study Motivation
So I’m in a situation right now that I think a lot of you can relate to. It’s the end of exam period, one exam left and all nighters, cramming and crying have left me exhausted and with no motivation left to study for that last subject on the list. It’s not practical, I see nothing I can gain in studying it.
In the last few days I tried a lot of things to help motivate me :
- studying somewhere else
- switching up the routine
- telling myself I’ll get a reward once I’m fnished
and so on. I even wrote out a list of why I should be studying, what should motivate me and why I feel so down right now.
Nothing worked.
As I was about to just give up or to try somehow, in a blur of sighs and grey and wanting to sleep, to study the material I have to learn, I stumbled about someone telling me something:
“I think it is a bad idea to study that subject of yours in uni.”
And I asked that person, why would you think that?
“You won’t need much of the maths you learn in your courses for work later on. You don’t need that math for your life.”
And I was stunned. Because, can’t that person just see?
And I explained.
I explained, that I don’t study maths because it’s practical or because I’ll need it later on. I don’t even know by now if I want to work as a mathematician later in life. And you know what? I don’t need to want to do that in order to study maths in uni.
Because maths is not about that.
It’s about challenging yourself to constantly keep improving. To try your best, just to be told that that’s just enough to barely pass. To try and to try and to improve, again and again and again, and to teach yourself on the way a better way of thinking, a better way of doing thinks.
I don’t study maths for the maths, I study it to improve my thinking and to improve myself, in every way possible, in order to become a better person than I was yesterday.
Hell, most people that finish the maths degree that I’m doing don’t work as a clean mathematician afterwards. They do start-ups, they do programming, they help firms to critically review their funding and logical structure.
And as I explained to that random person on the internet why I, a person that always struggled with maths at school, would study it now at university for over 5 years, I found the motivation again that had left me.
I don’t study it because I need it in life. It doesn’t matter if I’ll need this one subject later on. That’s not why I’m here. That’s not why I’m hanging on.
Thank you random person for making me remember that.
So: If at one point, all motivation leaves you, imagine someone criticising you for your chosen field of study.
And whilst you passionately tell them why you think they’re wrong, go find again that spark that you were missing.

Just completed and submitted the final version of my Extended Essay !!! °˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖°
So I compiled lists of words that I found super super useful in making it easier for me to finish any essay !! Here is a masterpost of some sort with transition words + key vocabs grouped together for easy access as well as an IB IOC ‘cheat sheet’ I used for my english LAL orals last year (though most commentaries follow a similar structure so its generalisable) ~
Good luck with your essays !!!
… oops just realised I forgot to bullet point one of the lists

random college tips
i. get to your classroom early if you don’t have a class beforehand
not only are you guaranteed the best seat in the house, but there’s something about being in a classroom or lecture hall that makes you feel productive and focused. bring a book or writing assignment for a different class with you and just Do It
ii. pack your bag the night before
especially if you have early morning classes and are not a morning person. this will help you have a less stressful morning and will help you make sure you have everything you need for the day prior to leaving your dorm
iii. don’t overannotate
annotations are designed to help you identify the most important parts of the book/novel, meaning important themes, character development, big events, the implications of said events, etc. by over highlighting and over annotating i can guarantee you you aren’t doing yourself a favor !!! i’m gonna make a post later about how i annotate so be on the lookout
iv. stay on top of your readings
seriously. it is a pain in the ass trying to catch up on a week’s worth of reading in five different classes. it is stressful, it’s time consuming, and it’s exhausting. even if you’ve had a long day and you’re not in the mood to read an entire 20 page chapter in your american government textbook, just do it !!! your brain and your mental health will thank you the next day
v. try your hardest not to miss class
i’m mentally ill and prone to sickness, so i understand that sometimes it’s hard. it also feels worse when you miss class and have no idea what’s happening, so if you think you can get out of bed, lets get to class so we don’t fall behind and get extra stress thrown on top of us!
vi. fridays are homework days
think of it this way: if fridays are homework days, saturday and sunday are free days !!!!
vii. proofread your papers before you turn them in
guys i literally never do this (i know i’m a bad egg) and im always suffering for it. if your college/university has a writing center/something similar please go there, especially your freshman year !!! they will help you learn how to accurately and succinctly convey your thoughts on a college level and you will be so grateful later on i hate myself
viii. ask if the professor prefers a certain citation style
if you dont get a chance to ask during the class/lecture, send them an email. i once got my grade halved because i didnt use APA when the professor didnt specify on the syllabus/assignment sheet. so do urself and ur gpa a favor and ask
ix. always bring extra pens/pencils to class with you
somebody will forget theirs and they will sit next to you and if ur in a class with 30+ ppl that has group projects or presentations coming up you’re going to want friends
x. college kids love gum
if u bring gum you got all the friends in the world my guy i dont know why this is a thing but it is. one girl cried during exam week last year because i gave her a piece of my gum and that was literally the highlight of her week
ok thats my random ass list of stuff regarding college !! i’ll probably make more masterposts like this b/c this was fun as heck. if u have any questions/need advice, just hmu !! you can check out my other masterposts here.

I cannot stress this enough- Build a routine. Build Habits. Wake up every day and get used to being productive, one day at a time. Do this for long enough and eventually you’ll be at your goal without even realising it.

21.02.18 // 21:19
I am good enough.
I have days where I don’t study. There are days I don’t achieve anything on my to-do list. There are days where I just lie down and watch Netflix, procrastinate the day away. There are days where I think about giving up. Today has been one of those days.
But I don’t give up. I shower, put on pajamas, and meditate. I go to bed with the knowledge that tomorrow is a new day. I don’t give up, and I am good enough.

22 february 8:04am // wanted to show off some of my annotations for my interpretation of a scene from titus andronicus for theatre. i’m trying to give the power in the scene back to lavinia, allow her to really exact her revenge as much as the original text will allow
(speaking of which: minor content warning for elizabethan references to rape, death, blood, and other violent language)

Studying, done right, can be the most rewarding of all activites. It is stimulating, but relaxing. You’re focused, but wandering through your mind. Your mind is abuzz, but your body breathes slow. You’re alone, but in the company of millenia of thinking. You pick something up, take it apart and you make it your own. You’re literally assembling your future thoughts. You’re in control of how you will see the world.
You’re growing, but you’re raising yourself.

Motivation! [5/?]
I’m trying to create a revision timetable for my exams, using a spreadsheet to set out every revision session. And I had parent/teacher interviews yesterday which I had to go to alone because neither of my parents could go, it was so awkward 😂 It’s almost half term and I really need it 🛀🏻🛀🏻
