Damien didn’t hesitate to let Lochan’s tug pull him into a hug, wrapping his arms snuggly around the little guy, “I miss you, too. Of course, I’ll come to visit you more often.” He meant it too, as just being around the little guy right now had reminded Damien of just how much he truly did miss the way things used to be with Sunny. “Yeah, dad is an old fart.” He teased as well, shooting a playful grin up at Sunny for a second, adding, “I’ll be around if daddy wants to do anything for his birthday. I promise.” He made the promise to both Lochan and Sunny, though he was certain his ex probably didn’t want to see him on his birthday of all days. Damien’s eyes remained warmly focused on Lochan as he begged for Sunny’s approval before running off to the monkey bar, a small smile unable to leave his lips throughout the entire interaction with Sunny’s son. “So.,” he repeated, turning to look at Sunny completely now, and man, there were so many things he wanted to say to the other right now. “ Do you think we can manage an ice cream date without the tension?” He lightly teased, reaching out to gently hold Sunny’s hand briefly. “Please? I’ll try to avoid the park at this hour from here on out, though.” He sighed, letting go of the other’s hand, “I didn’t know this was the time you brought him out here to play.”

it was these kinds of moments when everything felt like it went back to normal. they were a happy family. but reality came crashing back to him as damien teased him on his age. he was turning thirty one and he too felt old. “stop reminding me.” a small playful grin fell on his lips. lochan put sunny in a very difficult place, because he hated seeing him so sad without the other, but he also didn’t really want to see damien. he needed space, and time to process everything. ‘ “i have to think about it.” which it was true, he needed time to process everything. truthfully, sunny didn’t know where his heart was at. the more time they were now seeing each other a small part of him wanted to work things out. sunny wanted to communicate better. though sunny isn’t ready to have the same petty arguments they had in the past. as the two were alone it felt more awkward, as lochan wasn’t around. “i think we’ve been doing pretty well.” for just a moment sunny allowed himself to put his guard down, taking the others hand. lacing their fingers together. “as much as i personally would rather not see you, lochan does. i’m not going to be a jerk and tell you where you can and can’t go.” sunny let go of the others hand, placing them in his pockets. “it’s not like we always come to the park. so we’ll manage just fine.” he replied with bitterness. the guard he just let down came right back up.

Damien’s gaze remained warmly focused on Lochen, the softest of smiles still lingering, “ Jeez. What? Are you a superhero now?” He teased the five-year-old, kneeling on one knee to level with him. “Definitely came to see you, little guy. I guess you’re not so little anymore, huh? Pretty soon, you’re going to be as old as your pops.” He joked, looking up to flash Sunny a grin. “ You know what, though? I heard you were a monster at the monkey bars.” He encouraged, nodding towards the bars, “Why don’t you show me? Who knows, maybe by the time you’ve made it across..we might be going to get some ice cream.” He tempted, laughing a bit, truthfully he just needed a moment alone with Sunny.”I mean, if dad allows it.” He stood up now, turning his attention to Sunny, still grinning. 

lochan loved super heros and his eyes lit up in delight as damien called him one. “yes, i iron man.” the child responded, pulling damien in for a hug. “can you see me more? i miss you.” he then added. “it’ll be daddy’s birthday, mondy. he’s old.” lochan giggled. it broke sunny’s heart hearing how much his son missed the other. he already agreed for damien to hang around at this point he’d be doing his son a disservice if he didn’t let his ex take lochan out for ice cream. “daddy please say yes.” lochan begged, sunny nodded which was enough for the child to run over to the monkey bars. “so...” he rocked on his heels as he faced the other. sunny didn’t really know what to say.

“so i heard the owner here is suing me for some damaged espresso machine shit. i didn’t do it. where is he?” announced adrien. “i’d simply like to have a talk with him.” he punched his own palm, threateningly. it didn’t take long for sunny to appear, however, and he said, “kidding. kidding. i would never. i’m a very peaceful person.” now, at least. he continued, “and for legal reasons, everything i just said was a joke.” he tried to pull the other man into a hug; it had only been a short while since they last saw each other, yet he missed his friends all the same. he could hardly believe that he used to dislike sunny.

sunny had been doing work on the computer making sure all the funds for the inn were in order. he was trying to think of new and innovate ways to make people want to come to mapleview and stay at the rooster inn. when he heard adrien’s voice fill the lobby he closed out of the excel spread sheet and made his way into the lobby. “he quit after he couldn’t handle the fact someone broke his nespresso machine.” sunny shook his head, at his lame joke. “i know, you’ve got a heard of gold my friend.” he smiled as the other pulled him into a hug. “i don’t say this often enough,” sunny started as he broke out from the hug, “i really did miss you.”
