i am actually a little worried about Wille now that all the crown and Simon and scandal mess is (mostly) over. he has a second to breathe, he has simon, and that is beautiful. BUT
but. he never got to grieve his brother, not really. now i'm thinking about the first time he just has one of those days that's already kinda hard for no reason, but now he has time to think about it. he can sit in that grief now. he's no longer distracted by all the other things. i hope he lets himself feel it but i also hope someone is there with him when it comes.

Somebody get Lisa on the phone and ask if she did any research into how being a royal actually works because stuff like that takes me out of the world of the story COMPLETELY.
So given that:
I. No one had packed any clothes (except maybe Felice, if she stopped to grab her New York bag)
2. Wille is still a prince (and still currently Crown Prince) so can’t just disappear for an extended period of time
3. Linda is expecting her kids home after the graduation ceremony

He thinks they would let the Crown Prince leave the country? Makes even less sense than lasertag.

Tbh a lot of times it felt like Lisa was speaking through the characters. Especially with Simon. It felt a lot forced I won’t lie she made it too political and like these are teenagers we are talking about, why are they talking like 40 years old people ready to debate to get elected?
I really enjoyed how his views were expressed in the first season, but I agree that some of the script in season 3 was a bit clunky and it did sometimes feel like he was quoting thinkpieces rather than voicing his opinion

I’m working on a little something and keen to get people’s thoughts
On the one hand, the Danish Royal family pulled their Crown Prince out of his school when sexual abuse allegations surfaced, so there’s a real life precedent. On the other hand, the fictional Royal Court wasn’t even put off the school by an intimate video made of their Crown Prince, so would bullying allegations sway them, especially if the government allowed Hillerska to reopen?

Kristina is not just Wille's mom. She's queen of Sweden. She's not used to consider and talk or care about her own or Wille's feelings. He had to make it all not only about his personal choice but also insert 'people who didn't choose' to give some weight to his words. They are used to excuse the existence of the monarchy by it being needed by people and being helpful to them, so he couldn't but insert the statement that people at least deserve a king who wants to be a king.
I mean you could definitely say he was just trying to make a point, but I’m still surprised he didn’t bring up her own words from his birthday about how it was difficult to be his mother and his boss. That felt like such a resonant line that gave a lot of insight into her character and why she makes the decisions she does and it was just never revisited.

One thing that kiiinda took me out of the final episode of Young Royals was Wille’s speech to his mother in the car. I was sort of expecting him to talk about how their relationship could be better if she wasn’t his boss and how his mental health would be better if he could step back but instead it felt a bit like Lisa was just talking directly to the audience about how people don’t get to choose when there’s a monarchy - which I don’t think Wille has ever really been that bothered about before? Felt a bit on the nose I guess.

jackie telling nat she admires the way she is “completely herself” when nat had something jackie didn’t: adaptation.
when we see nat taking the role as the hunter, we also see jackie failing to hold the gun properly and missing her opportunity to prove herself.
when nat takes travis to the plane and they take too long, jackie is the one confronting nat. nat also tells jackie she is jealous, but not for the right reasons.
of course jackie always noticed she was missing something to be the perfect leader when nat didn't even think of herself as an important piece of the group. nat was willing to sacrifice herself out there in the wilderness to give the girls something to eat.
and we see how this develops more in doomcoming, when lottie tells jackie “you don’t matter anymore” but it’s nat that finds her and let’s her out.
it’s crazy to think nat was always destined to be the real leader, to take jackie’s place when she was gone and eventually mean more to the girls as the antler queen than the captain of their team could ever try.
but it’s nat who takes jackie’s bones to the plane. it’s nat who tries to put jackie to rest and not playing or toying with her death more than they could.
but it’s also nat who mourns jackie’s death because she feels some guilt, she wasn’t able to have enough food for the girls to eat and it’s nat who thanks to jackie for her sacrifice, for taking care of her girls, for let them consume her.
then the wilderness takes care of nat, picks nat as her favorite because she was always so completely herself.

I just realised what movie ending the final scene of Young Royals reminded me of:
The Graduate 😬

there's a message in yellowjackets that really resonates, about what it looks like to "overcome" trauma. you live through something indescribable, you're "rescued" from that thing, and you have a grace period. how long? a week? a month? a year? how long before the world stops giving you grace, how long before the world expects you to give them a pretty little story with a happy little ending so they can stop feeling weird when they look at you, for the way what you've been through makes them feel? how long before you have to be a wife and mother to prove you're fine, or a successful politician, or a respectable nurse. or, how long before they want to see you in the psych ward or rehab so they can frown and ooh and ahh at your failure to assimilate back into a world you can no longer see in the same light? they don't want to help you. they want to watch you. they want to make a feel-good story out of you. a quippy headline. and if they can't, they'll make you their cautionary tale. if you can give them neither, you'd better hide yourself away. everybody asks "what really happened out there?" what was it like how did it feel what did you have to do to survive it? and the answer is there is no answer. it is still happening. it is happening every night in your dreams, it is happening every time you look in the mirror, it is happening over and over and over again forever. hitting the "recovery milestones"–the socially acceptable You Did It life markers such as a successful career, a successful family, a successful whatever the fuck–meeting those marks isn't for you. you don't see the merit in those things anymore. and why would you? you know a different way of living now. it's for the audience who wants to be placated by your okayness or entertained by your insanity, and will not rest until you've given them one or the other. the wilderness may have taken indiscriminately, cruelly, violently. but society is worse. that's the difference between hunger and gluttony. you ate your friends to survive. they are eating you to throw you up to eat you again to complain about how unpalatable you are now. and then they still ask for more.

Hang on a minute… should Wille have even been in the car with the Queen? Aren’t there rules about people in direct line of succession not travelling together, or is that just the British Royals?

I think that after the wire bashir should have prescribed garak sunglasses to deal with the 'everything is so fucking bright here' problem. everything about the series is exactly the same except that in every scene that's set on ds9 garak's like '😎my dear doctor -- '

Doubling down on this because now I’m imagining Wille organising magazine layouts in the same way he pins speeches and photos to his bedroom wall
I know a lot of people headcanon Wille as becoming a psychologist or therapist, but I feel like that’s just another job that would stress him out. Also can you imagine if your therapist was a prince - formerly the Crown Prince - of Sweden? I feel like he’d be more comfortable working in a creative industry, but behind the scenes. Photography or publishing could fit. Something where he has agency to express himself but doesn’t have to be a spokesperson, and can platform others.
