There should totally be a movement called “Sleep in Public” where people defend their right to sleep on public property. Sleep in your cars. Sleep on benches. Sleep at the park. Just make it a mundane and regular part of life to see someone napping in the library. It would make it much harder to single out the homeless for harassment if everyone else is doing the same thing and much harder to argue that it’s a “threat to public safety” when it’s so clearly harmless.

thinking about when i was in high school and i lost a library book i had checked out and for like two years i didnt go to the library bc i couldnt pay for it until i was an adult and had money and i finally went to the front desk and said "hi i have to pay the overdue charges for a book i lost a long time ago so i can check something new out im sorry" and the librarian was like oh we stopped charging late fees and dropped everyones debts so you dont owe anything here's a new library card :-) best moment of my life sloppy toppy for every librarian Now.
