"Helion, High Lord of the Day Court, arrived at the Hewn City the next afternoon on a flying horse.
He’d wanted to enter the dark city in a golden chariot led by four snow-white horses with manes of golden fire, Rhys had told Cassian, but Rhys had forbidden the chariot and horses, and let Helion know that he could winnow in or not come at all.
Hence the pegasus. Helion’s idea of a compromise."
L-O-L, once again Helion proved himself to be the best character in the series 🤣😍

Not that every woman for the last several hundred years hasn’t already had this exact thought, but I just have to say again for the record that Mr. Darcy is the literal alpha specimen of the male race. Brilliant? Successful? More interested in conversation and debate than putting up with anybody’s nonsense? Aware of his own failures and shortcomings, and emotionally intelligent enough to understand his own feelings? Eager to correct his mistakes and take responsibility for them? Loyal and devoted but immediately willing to respect his woman’s boundaries? Polite and decent even when being slam dunked by the love of his life? Still turned on by his girl’s ratty-ass hair and mud-soaked dress when she turns up after walking like ten miles to Netherfield? Tries to make up for his awkwardness by inviting her uncle to go fishing for no apparent reason just to escape his own mansion?
Show me a man who can top that. I dare you.

More on accountability and cancel culture
If someone is doing the difficult work of
realizing that they fucked up
not falling into a pity-party or self-flagellation
leaning how they fucked
apologizing sincerely
changing behavior
probably the most likely things to block that process and start a panicked fight/flight response (get defensive / mock / ignore / block) instead would be:
gathering a large crowd
demanding an immediate response
making ‘you fucked up’ into ‘you ARE worthless’
Online accountability processes often involve all three, sometimes deliberately and explicitly.
And I would say that is not a coincidence born out of anger. That is a pattern that people have learned from watching each other. And the reason accountability processes have taken that form is because many are not genuinely seeking accountability from the target. They seek accountability from the audience. They are already pushing for exclusion, they’re just not openly admitting it yet.
And people who do want genuine accountability will repeat this harmful pattern if they have learned from others that this is what starting an accountability process looks like.
This pattern is very difficult to talk about when it happens because it’s mostly not a person being manipulative, it’s a learned and repeated pattern. And pointing that out in the middle of a heated situation will distract from the fuck up and almost certainly be interpreted as tone-policing or attacking the person who is doing the also very difficult work of addressing a fuck up. So bringing this up generally doesn’t help.
So we don’t get to the conversation about why our ‘accountability’ rarely works.
