caleb went still the second he hugged you, like he’d just gotten hit with something intoxicating. he pulled back just a little, blinking at you, then leaned in again, burying his face in your neck.

“holy sh—pips,” he groaned dramatically, arms wrapping tighter around your waist. “you smell like heaven and sin had a baby.”

you burst out laughing. “you’re so dramatic.”

he just nuzzled you again, lips brushing the sensitive skin beneath your ear. “i’m serious. i want to crawl under your skin right now.”

you swatted at his arm, flustered. “it’s just perfume!”

“whatever it is, it’s a problem.” he kissed your jaw, then lower. “'cause now i wanna kiss you for, like, three hours straight. minimum.”

RAFAYEL

he was painting—focused, shirtless, streaks of color on his arms—when you crept up behind him and wrapped your arms around his waist.

he stilled.

then he turned his head slightly, inhaling, like a wolf catching a scent in the wind.

“did you just cast a spell on me?”

you bite back a smile as he ducked down, nosing along your neck, groaning softly. he slinged an arm around your waist pressing you to his side.

“delicious. is that new?”

you just smirked. “wouldn’t you like to know.”

he laughed under his breath, mouth finding your neck, your shoulder, wherever he could get. “if you wore this to mess with me, it’s working. i want to paint you now. naked, preferably.”

SYLUS

you barely walked past him before sylus turned his head, eyes narrowing like he just picked up on something forbidden.

he stepped closer, towering over you, his hand curling gently under your chin. “...you smell dangerous,” he said lowly, his voice already laced with heat.

he tilted your head up, heart fluttering as he leaned in, his mouth brushing against the back of your ear. he moved lower, lips grazing your neck, then the space just under your jaw.

“what is that scent?” he murmured, like it was bothering him. like it was consuming him.

“do you like it?”

he huffed a soft laugh against your skin, kissing your throat like he was losing control. “you’re not allowed to wear it around anyone but me. understood?”

XAVIER

you slipped under the covers beside him, thinking he was asleep. he wasn’t.

the second your body curled into his, his arm came around your waist, slow and sure. he inhaled once, then again.

“…what is that?” he muttered, voice rough with sleep. he buried his face in your neck without waiting for an answer.

you giggled and his arm only tightens around you.

“not funny,” he mumbled, lips brushing your throat. “you smell like trouble.”

“you’re imagining things.”

“i’m not.” he kissed your collarbone, again and again, slower. “we’re not leaving this bed today.”

ZAYNE

you stepped into zayne’s office for your monthly check-up, but the second you approached his desk, he looked up like you’d just walked in wearing nothing but your birthday suit.

before you could sit at your usual chair, his hand found your wrist and guided you into his lap instead.

he didn’t say anything, just leaned in and breathed you in like he needed the scent to live.

“…what did you put on?” he asked, lips brushing the underside of your jaw. “you’ve never smelled like this before.”

you pretended to play dumb. “what do you mean?”

he exhaled a low chuckle, his voice raspier than usual. “don’t play with me. this—this is lethal.”

then he kissed your neck, slow and open mouthed. “fuck, you’re gonna get me fired.”

To be perfectly honest, when you invited Geralt into your chambers you had planned to talk to him and explain how he had broken your heart and how protecting you from himself was a complete nonsense.

And when he first appeared at your doorstep, you were still determined to discuss these matters.

But apparently, your desire for him had other ideas so before you could even say two words to him, you had thrown yourself into him arms, speech be damned.

Needless to say that it was almost morning when you dozed off in his arms, and when the curtain of the sleep was slowly lifted off of you, you rubbed at your eyes and snuggled into the covers before looking up at him. He was awake, with his arm curled under his head, and his other hand was playing with your hair. You pressed your naked body closer to his and he looked down at you with a smile on his lips.

“Morning.”

“Good morning,” you smiled back before you pressed your lips together, “That…wasn’t talking, so to speak.”

He tilted his head and shot you a mischievous look, “No?”

You shook your head and reached out to steal a small kiss from him, a  growl climbing up to his throat as soon as you pulled back.

“So, I give you the chance to…” you waved a hand in the air, “Make amends. You may start now.”

“I thought I started last night,” he commented and your jaw dropped, a fire sweeping over your face.

“Well, probably.” You admitted, “It has nothing to do with this though.”

“They- you-“ he stammered, “You’re a witch?”

“Yeah. As it turns out.”

“What does that even – will he hunt you now?” He motioned at Geralt who only raised his brows.

“That’s what you want to ask?”

“I don’t know what I’m supposed to ask!” Fin exclaimed, “Can you turn Cranley into a frog?”

“I can try?” You said slowly and turned to Geralt, “Wait, can I do that?”

The chatter in your chambers pulled you out of your thoughts and you looked around, then touched the masks lying on the table.

“I’m not sure if red is my color, your highness.” Cassie’s voice carried out from behind your dressing screen and you tilted your head.

“Nonsense, it will look wonderful.”

“I’m sure it will look beautiful Cassie.” Meriel said and Fin nodded.

“There’s no color that would look bad on you-Jaskier will you pick a mask or…?”

“I’m thinking!” Jaskier said, still looking at the two masks he was holding, “Wait- is this real gold?”

Fin shot him a look then wiggled his brows, “What do you think?”

“Cassie, do you need help with the corset?” Meriel called out and Cassie hesitated for a moment,

“Yes please?”

Meriel nodded to herself as she went behind the dressing screen and Ciri heaved a sigh then pulled a chair, making you turn your head.

“What? What’s wrong?”

“I don’t see why I can’t join.”

A giggle came from behind the dressing screen and you pursed your lips.

“It’s not very…. I doubt it will be a very appropriate party.”

“But there are costumes!”

“It’s not for kids, brat.” Fin joked, “You will attend many masquerades when you grow up, just be patient.”

“Easy for you to say, you’re attending.”

“Because it’s a part of my wedding celebrations, Ciri.”

“If it makes you feel any better, she’s not attending either,” Jaskier motioned at you and Fin suppressed a smile before he nodded.

“Yeah!” he said, “And- Geralt will not attend either, right sister?”

Your eyes widened and you gawked at him as it dawned on him what he had just asked, but then you cleared your throat.

“How would I know what Geralt will do, Fin?”

The funny thing is you talk about it, but it’s not really a conversation.

Early Sunday morning, when New York still hasn’t gone to sleep — because it never does — but the usual city dwellers haven’t woken up from their usual Saturday nights. Everything’s usual, normal, expected. From the plate of golden waffles and steaming cup of coffee in front of you to the clear blue eyes smiling at you from across the table.

Normal, expected— except for the question. “D’you think that’ll be us someday?”

Those blue eyes shift somewhere over your shoulder and back. He’s holding his breath, probably didn’t mean to ask in the first place, but now all you can do is listen to the wailing cries of a baby too young to be out this early, here, having brunch with parents that look like they wish they could get more than three hours of sleep.

You didn’t even notice you turned back to look, too.

A sip of coffee, deliberate. A quick shrug, and a forkful of light, fluffy waffles drenched in syrup. Your throat seems caught in it, cloyingly sweet like the taste of pink lips this morning. “Ours would behave better.”
