I interviewed Miriam Fritz. She's a SFV designer, and she shared who she and her colleagues were inspired by when creating our favorite characters

Oscar von Horrificus was a little inspired by Rudolph from the movie "The Little Vampire" in 1985.

Gothetta's hairstyle is called a "wolf tail", but they don't look alike in real life. Miriam Fritz shared a sample photo from which she painted Gothetta’s hair.

We all know perfectly well that Stoker looks like Dracula from the 1931 movie.

Tinto's glasses were drawn from glasses from the movie “Sleepy Hollow”.

The Klot was drawn from a boy in a magazine. He wears a typical 19th century sailor suit and a hat. The boy from the magazine and Klot are very similar!!

To my surprise, the Ashley vampire was drawn by Austin Powers... It was very unexpected.

We all know the prototypes of adult characters perfectly well, so I won't stop on them for a long time.

Finally, we have Professor Polidori, who was drawn from Professor Abronsius from “Fearless vampire killers”

That's it! Sunshine doesn’t have a specific prototype, but I know that their relationship with Oscar was inspired by Rudolph and Tony from "The Little Vampire"

Yes, it's an ableist slur.

Terms like "asshat," "head-up-ass," "up their own ass," and "high on their own farts" exist. There's also words like crap, dogshit, half-assed, assclown, and chucklefuck. And on the less vulgar side, there are terms like ridiculous, nonsense, train wreck, pointless, insipid, self-absorbed, pretentious, annoying, boring, contemptible, vile, and disgusting.

Substituting words like restarted, poptarted, brain damaged, smoothbrain, etc. is still ableist, because either 1. you obviously still mean the r-word, or 2. you're still using disability as an insult.

we aren't naturally rare, we are made rare, and then this "rareness" is used as excuse to not include us anywhere. to not address our discrimination. to not think about our experiences.

intersex people aren't rare. we're (often violently) erased and separated. and this is intersexism.

Hey everyone. I am an unemployed transgender woman living in wildly conservative Orange County, CA. I had to leave my job because of consistent transphobic and sexual harassment, and the cost of my therapy to deal with the trauma of sexual assault has also increased. Ultimately, I really do believe that the whole “don’t try to be your friends’ therapist” mindset has done more harm than good. I understand and agree with the original premise behind it—codependency bad, enmeshment bad—but it has morphed into something godawful that I can barely even stomach to look at. Why the fuck are we encouraging people to outsource critical mental health support and genuine, vulnerable human connection to authority figures who don’t necessarily give a fuck about us as people, with whom we have a tenuous client/employee relationship that is ripe for abuse and held together only by the exchange of money??? If I have advice for my friends or am capable of helping them with their problems in other ways then why the fuck would I not just. Do it. Why are we limiting the boundaries of actual fucking human relationships by expecting that no one will ever ask anything of us and we should never ask anything of them in return!!!! Do you people not see how fucking miserable and lonely that is!?!?!?! How can you people say that you truly care about your friends when you care more about holding them at arms’ length and “encouraging them to seek help on their own” rather than actually fucking helping them yourself when they ask it of you!?!?!?!?!?!

Adriana Smith’s neonate was delivered today, 3 months early (around 28 weeks).

She will finally be allowed to rest and taken off of life support.

Her family’s fundraiser is nowhere near its goal, and now they have tremendous NICU costs to look forward to based on how her son was able (or unable) to develop under the duress of all those life saving drugs they pumped his mom full of.

Please allow this mother’s spirit to rest and support their family as they’re finally allowed to grieve poor Adriana being used as an incubator for the state.
