A controversial young art duo included in the show breaks new ground with Can’t Help Myself (2016), a gigantic robot equipped with a single arm upon whose end a shovel-like object is attached. It is the brainchild of Beijing-based artists Sun Yuan and Peng Yu. Described by the press release as “guard” of sorts, the robot’s duty is to contain a pool of dark liquid resembling blood as it starts to seep away. The more the substance oozes, the more frantic the robot grows, shoveling the liquid in a move that leaves behind smears and traces of red.

Can’t Help Myself, according the curator, “is itself a tale, a story, that we can say comments on our contemporary culture.”

Hey, I'm not on tumblr anymore, but I was talking to a friend about creative Hannibal AUs and I was trying to find/remember a fic that I thought you wrote about Hannibal and Will being professors in the 1920s and it was done in part through letters and I think there was a spin off with Matthew Brown and Anthony Dimmond. Hey, I’ve been re-binging your and blood’s Hannibal stories and I swear they’re my best comfort during my country’s post-quarantine phase, so thank you for that! It’s not too personal! We met through stories on AO3 -- I wrote one that she had had in mind to write, for a lovely artist who’d requested it, and we got talking. Talking turned to planning, planning turned to just over 3 million words of writing :D

It’s been a long time since he was genuinely fascinated by someone. (Manipulation but a happy ending, no death or on-screen murder)

Hannibal very rarely felt guilt, in fact he wasn’t certain he was actually capable of properly feeling it. He could express concern, interest, curiosity; sometimes he could admit that a certain decision he’d made perhaps wasn’t the most correct at the time, but he didn’t weigh himself down with guilt over it.

But just as Will Graham had brought out Hannibal’s desire, where it so rarely came through, so too did he start to bring about twinges of what Hannibal supposed were aspects of guilt.

After drinks, they had had dinner.

After dinner they had had sex.

Now, three months into their relationship, Will’s mind started to burn all the hotter. He wore his disease like a perfume, and Hannibal found himself addicted to it, burying his face in Will’s hair when he saw him, laughing low and warm against his skin that he’d missed him terribly that day. Will would shove against him before kissing Hannibal’s cheek and calling him a sap.

I have a problem. I have a close mutual whose writing is awesome and so I've tended to leave long, detailed comments on their fics. That's how we started talking, actually, they reached out to me to thank me. But now that we're interacting a lot more and not just via comments, I'm getting anxious and exhausted since they post new stuff several times a week, and I can't keep up. What should I do? I like writing long comments, I just don't have the time/mentality to do it as often as they post.

I made one of my fandom besties through comments, too. She was fandom-famous for her comments. Truly epic. Full of commentary and humour and enthusiasm. Honestly, she was a dream (and a great author in her own right, too!). 

But back then, I was posting daily. Sometimes multiple fics on the same day. We were chatting on hangouts by that point, and I’d link her to a new chapter when I posted because back in 2015 AO3 emails were slower and she didn’t want to have to wait half an hour to find out a new chapter was up. 

But there were times when she was too tired or had too many responsibilities, and I got that. Just like your friend will understand. She knows that you love her writing and she knows you want to encourage her. She’ll be okay if you don’t read everything. Really. Just let her know how you’re feeling. Fic is supposed to be fun, not stressful. ❤
