I don’t think most people will ever understand how much I love some dude in Japan who I’ve never seen the full face of. Like even if the manga ends like dogshit and/or Izuku ends up with ocha or some random girl I could give half a fuck. Hori has totally stolen my heart for how much he cares and the huge amount of work and dedication he’s put into this manga. I have never in my life seen an anime and gone to read the manga. Never. Not until I started seeing these screenshots of just how amazing reading it was. The ART! I swear I’ve said it before but the art of my hero Is some of the best manga work I have ever seen. You can just feel how much he loves working on it — loves writing these complex characters and their arcs — loves that people enjoy his manga from a range of audiences that most mangaka can only fucking dream of reaching. Hori has to be one of the coolest, sweetest, and and downright incredible people I’ve never seen. I just—! I love him so fucking much he’s just so great.

Something that came to my mind reading chapter 362 is the reversal of the roles, and the sheer grace with which Horikoshi puts Shigaraki (AfO) in contrast to Bakugou, and how with just one panel he both mocks AfO and reminds us how far has Bakugou come.

Indeed, the words in the panel, such as ‘anger’, ‘losing my cool’ and especially ‘die’, are something that have mostly been associated to Bakugou throughout the entire story, up until the PFL war arc, where Bakugou makes a turn around (of which a lot of you are not convinced, and yet chapters 285/322 and now 362 exist despite that), and instead tries to one up himself, getting rid of his ‘victory first, everything else second to the side’, puts his individualism in the background and acknowledges how the bonds he has constantly denied and angered on are instead fundamental, and are not an obstacle to his path.

On the other hand, his development is easier to show in contrast to the way, ShigarAfO feels/behaves instead.

He is selfish, he is an individualist and he wants to be a Demon Lord and reign supreme over everyone else. He wants so desperately to win, that someone like Bakugou - who has evolved instead from his little shell, blooming into a hero who deserved its own name and respect, is taunting at the best. It is even more telling that Bakugou has never been of interest for AfO, until now. Now, he wants Bakugou to die. Why? Because seeing how someone like Bakugou (who certainly shared traits with him, and therefore was neither an obstacle nor an ally) has changed, touched by OfA and those feelings of straining and doing one’s best not for oneself, but for the others (where enhancements are done, not to simply power up - but to serve a purpose) is infuriating at the least.

It makes AfO’s goals seem small, unreachable and dare I say meaningless. It’s definitely not something AfO is used to, or has often heard / felt. It probably reminds him extremely well of another OfA users, who likely bore a similar faith (did the 2nd sacrifice himself for another OfA user or did his quirk make it so that it was that way?). They’re not pleasant memories, and it’s great to see the coin flipped this way, where Bakugou’s is for once not the one with the unrecognised complexes, traumas or feelings.
