*hugs* You know you can call me and talk anytime. I’m not going to tell you to be strong and get beyond it. I’m gonna tell you it’s ok to feel that way. But you do have people who love you dearly.
Getting it off my chest
I want to preface this by saying this isn’t aimed at anyone in particular, I love all of the support I get, but this has to be said for myself:
I have had to deal with terrible things that happened in my past. Occasionally they come back to me and unearth things I have been trying to suppress and move on from. My loved ones tell me to be strong and get beyond it, but it’s easy for everyone to say. Trust me, I want to be strong. But for 18 years I was all alone dealing with this. Alone and scared. I didn’t have support until I was able to get away from it. And even then I didn’t share my feelings with people for years. I was still alone. I’m not anymore, but that doesn’t make the old wounds go away. I will deal with this for many years, especially since I never know when it’s going to come back to remind me. When the wounds are finally allowed to close completely I can really move on. But just know I do appreciate those of you who help me and I am trying my hardest to hold on. If I can’t be strong for myself I will try for you. Please just continue to be there, in my ups and downs. 😘

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who, I drew this slightly ridiculous tribute to the Bayeaux Tapestry - I had originally intended this to be one 12-foot long image, but then I realized that if I were to ever turn this into a print that it would be impossible to frame (and difficult to view in one piece online), hence the more conventional 24x36-inch print available here.

“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’ To this day, especially in times of ‘disaster,’ I remember my mother’s words and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers – so many caring people in this world.”

The point is, the Muppets have always had bits of adult humor sprinkled in among the kid-friendly laughs. So when the Moms claim that The Muppets “is not what Jim Henson created or imagined,” they’re completely off-base. The Muppets co-creator Bill Prady actually worked with Henson on a number of Muppet projects before Henson’s death. Who would know better what Jim would’ve wanted: Prady, or these moms?

I don't think suicidal people get enough credit for not acting on their suicidal thoughts.
This post is for all of you who have survived the urge to end your life, either coming out the other side or still fighting to stay alive.
I noticed how when someone has a physical illness such as cancer, and they come out the other side or even remission, they are able to celebrate surviving. I think all of the survivors of being suicidal should too.
Congratulations, and keep on fighting.

This 14-year-old Muslim American student was detained for bringing a homemade clock to school
Ahmed Mohamed, a 14-year-old Muslim student was arrested at his high school in Irving, Texas, after bringing a homemade clock to class, which school officials mistook for a bomb. Mohamed showed his engineering teacher first, but when the alarmed went off later in the day, that’s when the trouble started.

I understand thenerdyvixen’s position, but I disagree. Kim Davis is a government official who was abusing her position of authority to deny rights as determined by the Supreme Court of the United States of America. If she objected to it that strongly she should have resigned her position. Not abused it. I’ve seen an article refuting the comparison of her to Rosa Parks and I agree. She was not a powerless individual being squashed by an unfair government. She was closer to the unfair government squashing powerless individuals.
I'm a long winded soapbox standee...
Okay, there aren’t enough characters to post my opinion via Twitter, so I’ll do it here. It’s not an important topic, but it was on the news tonight.
That Kentucky clerk, Kim Davis, was released from jail today. She was put in there for refusing to allow marriage licenses for anyone after the national ruling to allow gay marriage. I don’t believe she needed to be thrown in jail, but I think she needs to be fired. When you have a job in the government, like she does, you are required to uphold the law, regardless if your religious beliefs conflict with these laws! If you can’t do your job, or in her case REFUSE to do your job, you should be fired or asked to leave. She’s getting a slap on the wrist and a shit ton of publicity, it makes me sick to see her on tv.
Anyway, that’s my opinion/rambling.

Our new Tropes vs Women episode explores the numerous ways in which the Women as Reward trope manifests in video games. The trope occurs when women or women’s bodies are employed as rewards for player actions, a pattern which frames female bodies and sexuality as collectible or consumable and positions women as status symbols designed to validate the masculinity of presumed straight male players. We then discuss how this trope both reflects and reinforces the pervasive, socially constructed mentality of male entitlement that operates in the background of our culture.
