Who is this Dr. Luigi guy?

The Dr. Mario game was consequence of a mishap called Virus, a game that wasn’t supposed to be released and since it had a character that was just like Mario Nintendo recreated the game making it into Dr. Mario,

Mario and Luigi games, many years later Dr. Luigi came by as part of the year of Luigi games.

Dr. Mario seems to be worried about how the virus spread and its consequences, but his brother seems to be more relaxed and laid back, carrying a sharp white outfit, with the mandatory green tie and his never leaving hat. Luigi seems to be ready to toss those MegaVitamins to the screen and give a finish to all the Virus on sight.

I really like the Dr. Luigi concept, Peach has been a Nurse as well, but I would have loved to see Nurse Daisy or even Doctor Daisy on the scene of this game, a four player mode, or maybe a platformer featuring Dr. Luigi himself!

Luigi, the underdog?

Pink outfit, Green outfit, Blue outfit, A vacuum that sucks spirits? Sure, he will wear it, all we need is an actual Super Luigi bros to manifest and Luigi would be completely similar to his older brother, making his first appearance with Mario cleaning sewers from monsters at Mario Bros ever since then, when a second player is needed you can count-a on Luigi.

While we are on the subject, Luigi first appeared with Mario on an Atari 2600 commercial, he was displayed as a full coward, maybe this created his new age personality? We will never know, its been a staple of him forever, even when he was part of the Super Mario Bros. Super Show he was portrayed as a coward, Is he really one? Maybe not, he has always came out brave either if it is facing evil alongside his brother, breaking walls or cleaning sewers, playing golf, tennis or soccer Luigi is a rather important part of the Mario series.

Green? Always?

Now, you are used to seeing Luigi in his green outfit, but this wasn’t always the case. On Wrecking Crew, Luigi wears a Pink outfit, and I bet you always wondered why there is a Super Smash Bros. Pink color for Luigi, eh? Now you know why. On the Mario and Luigi Bros Anime (More on this to come soon), Luigi has a blue outfit and his white firey outfit when he is Fire Luigi. We’ve seen him in black while he was Mr. L on super Paper Mario and lately, we’ve seen him as a fox, flying through, unlike his Racoon brother.

There were some games where Luigi was the protagonist, even before Luigis Mansion, the most famous of all may be Mario is Missing, on the NES version he is Luigi alright, however the PC sprit is a bit odd looking, and is what created the whole Weegee phenomenon on the internet. He was also an important guess on Hotel Mario for the infamous Phillips CD-I.  We’ve seen him missing on important games though such as Super Mario RPG and Mario 64, at least we can say he made an appearance on Super Mario 64: DS.
