1. Chassol - Big Sun (Tricatel)
Big Sun, Christophe Chassol’s brilliantly-dazzling fourth album, crowns his trilogy of ultrascores (a method he elaborated for harmonizing, symphonizing real life, the ‘here and now’), which started out in Creole-speaking New Orleans (Nola Chérie, 2011) before pursuing its route through India (Indiamore, 2013).

2. BADBADNOTGOOD & Ghostface Killah - Sour Soul (Lex Records)
Sour Soul is the collaborative album from Toronto jazz/hip-hop bandBADBADNOTGOOD and Staten Island rap champ Ghostface Killah. Inspired by 1960s and 70s music - taking inspiration from the recording techniques and production of that era, and eschewing sampling in favour of live instrumentation, BBNG with producer Frank Dukes have created a dramatic, cinematic musical staging for Ghostface’s vivid storytelling.

3.Death and Vanilla - To Where The Wild Things Are (Fire Records)
"Death And Vanilla are a Swedish haunted-pop duo who have found themselves caught in the vortex of retro-futurism circa 1969. Creating deliciously enticing soundscapes, full of moody moogs, swirling melodies and breathless vocals.

4.Tendts - Cheap Poetry (Fair Weather Friends)
1. Two brothers in a room. Their only link to reality, the view from a window; a reality distorted by a rusty, dusty tent. 2. The Self perceived as a mental exercise; an ever evolving tranformation of thoughts that tend to be an obsession 1+2 Tendts; two words merged in one, or maybe not…

5.Cemeteries - Barrow (Track and Field Recs)
Barrow, Reigle’s third Cemeteries record is the result of factors both light and dark. Memories of the lakeside town where he spent his childhood summers, his recent move from the east coast wilderness to Oregon’s mountainous beauty, a witchcraft fascination and the argument that John Carpenter’s The Fog might in fact be a better film than Halloween. Reigle has an unblushing love for old, grainy horror movies and while Barrow is a slow-burn love-letter to that obsession, it’s also an archive of his past and a journal of the life he currently possesses.

6.Jaga Jazzist - Starfire (Ninja Tune)
When the biggest stars in our universe begin to burn up and collapse they release neon gas. When electricity is passed through neon gas it glows. When it’s captured within glass we can use it to make coloured light. When that glass is shaped into the outline of a naked girl it can be hung outside a strip club. In this meeting of the celestial and the profane, the epic and the particular, lies Jaga’s new album Starfire.

7. Jamie xx - In Color (Young Turks)
It all comes to a head on In Colour, a polychrome riot of variable influences. Shouting jungle MCs, dulcet doo-wop harmonies, trance arpeggios, snippets of crowd noise, and rough-hewn breakbeats all get thrown into  Jamie Smith's mid-tempo rock tumbler.

8.Parklake - Terraforming (Emerald and Doreen Recordings)
Kosmische Musik- meet German 1990s Indie Electronica concept album evolves around the idea of creating a new, home-like place to live, through a tough process, without the guarantee to succeed. Terraforming develops from the dawn of Techno and Electronica towards exciting melodic textures that could well be the soundtrack of some Armageddon sci-fi movie from the early 1980s.

9. Lapalux - Lustmore (Ninja Tunes)
Lustmore is loosely based on the experience of hypnogogia, a transitional state of consciousness between wakefulness and sleep. Listeners familiar with his 2011 debut, Nostalchic, will know that Stuart Howard’s woozy, infectious rhythms, enveloping textures and unfamiliarly familiar melodies conjure that territory perfectly.

10.Die Wilde Jagd - Die Wilde Jagd (Tapete Records)
Every year anew, during the Rauhnächte (those harsh nights between Christmas and Twelfth Day), the Wild Hunt (Die Wilde Jagd) rides across the country: raucous, jeering hunters from the netherworld, whose path it is better not to cross. This is an ancient Germanic myth, which, in slightly varied form, is known in many parts of Europe and whose name Ralf Beck and Sebastian Lee Philipp have aptly chosen for their new project.

11.Lower Dens - Escape From Evil (Ribbon Music)
Escape From Evil is a cinematic, tonally rich work. The sounds are clean and warm. The pulse of the album is strong. Melodies are potent and songs are physical.
