this is an excellent observation. my own theory is that people find her rage discomforting because they are used to depictions of traumatized females withdrawing into themselves. this is NOT Shauna Shipman. She doesn’t sink she hardens, and she doesn’t let her fire go out she feeds the blaze. I am fascinated by her. She’s refreshing. I truly look forward to seeing how they wrap up her story for the last two seasons

fan reactions to season three of yellowjackets were so funny because for years misty was public enemy #1 but then this season she didn’t really have much to do in the adult timeline. meanwhile shauna is now most hated female character of the month and is now the one being called pure evil despite really not being directly responsible for most of the teen timeline deaths. i just think it’s very funny to see people completely 180 on misty after despising her for 2 seasons.

people were on shauna’s ass from the get go this season, even though she didn’t do anything (in my opinion) worthy of the vitriol until the melissa incident (teen timeline). if you can’t understand why she wanted coach ben to be punished then i fear you’re just not paying attention. she didn’t really have anything to do with mari’s death, everything she did that was cruel as post mortum. i mean lottie killed more people than she did this season.

anyways, not really saying anything new but it’s just an interesting observation i thought.

akilah being a younger sister. travis being an older brother. akilah fully trusting him to protect her from lottie. travis needing to protect her because he couldn't save javi from the other girls and was once a victim of lottie's himself. akilah only voting against ben once travis did. lottie making travis use drugs to dissociate from the grief of losing javi, while akilah tries to ground him and give him a goat that he can hold onto and protect instead. akilah being the only one besides nat who wanted to try to save javi. it got to me okay.

underrated yellowjackets scene is misty storming through the door of nat‘s hotel room while nat is mid-relapse, bodyslamming nat into next week, just fucking snorting all the cocaine before nat can get to it and then fighting for her fucking life because, evidently, misty quigley has never done cocaine ever before. zero thought process, zero consideration, zero alternatives. misty quigley woman of all time.

i think one of my favourite parts of gravity falls is just. soos in general. a different show would probably have a character like that- y’know, a fat guy who’s in that early-20s age where nobody wants to acknowledge that nobody knows what they’re doing but they’re not a kid anymore so they’re no longer part of the “marketable demographic” for kids, i think a lot of other shows would make him the punching bag or the butt of jokes or portray him as weird or creepy or a failiure. but no, soos is genuinely a big part of the heart of the show. he’s allowed to be a bit of a dork, and have a non-standard path in life- it’s treated as part of the quirks that make him lovable! the twins think he’s super cool, he’s smart, funny, genuine, kind- and when he gets his own episode in soos and the real girl, his issues with talking to people are just treated as so much more HUMAN than i’m used to for characters in his demographic. it’s really sweet. and i’m glad they do that. i really like soos.
