Will never stop pointing this out and reblogging anyone who supports me in my crusade to get the fandom to recognise that for MCU Loki, Laufeyson is not appropriate.
Comics Loki? Fine (depending on the era perhaps) - MCU, no.
Controversial opinion, but can we, as a fandom, stop referring to Loki as Laufeyson

I remember around a decade ago when plenty of us would always point all this stuff out...and we'd get "but he tried to commit genocide!" thrown back in our face. "He had no right to take the throne!" when literally he is next in line in the succession and the crown prince is banished, so what the hell else is supposed to happen? I know they deleted the scene where Frigga makes it explicit Loki is regent now but even without that scene that's how monarchies often had to work. You going to accuse Henry VIII of England (the second son) of bumping off his older brother Arthur even though he died of probably sweating sickness or tuberculosis?
You know when you want to yell at someone "did you listen to a WORD I said? Did you even WATCH the film?" it was like that. Imagine watching the entire film and your brain skipping over the huge significant detail that led to his actions at the end of the film, the detail he found out about himself that was unrelated to him 1. rightfully being next in line to the throne and 2. just being a bit of a mischievous magic nerd growing up and the dynamic that caused between him and Thor + friends. Yeah Loki maybe quietly steered Thor into doing what he did but Thor is still responsible for Thor's actions, and it's obvious that Loki didn't foresee Thor being banished, maybe just having his official role as heir postponed a bit longer. People say media literacy is in the toilet now but trust me, plenty of viewers have always been bad at it to suit their narrative (in this case people who were so annoyed by Loki's popularity they refused to acknowledge anything that didn't make him look 100% bad.)
i thought people were exaggerating but loki in thor 2011 is really the definition of unmalicious at the beginning. he just fucking... doesn't want his brother and himself and his friends to be killed and his friends are suspicious of him because of that? on that one little bit alone? what the fuck man. like maybe they're justified in the end but i am not forgetting the fact that loki not wanting to get killed + not destabilise the power of his family is what started their suspicions of him.... ugh.

I wasn't so fussed about genuinely being a stubborn Classic Who fan because Classic and New are both the same show and yet at the same time not. There's a definite break in tone so I got over the whole "season 1 etc" thing eventually.
But I swear to god all this stuff is going to make me start insisting on Series 40...

Aww I love it when people do things like this. I know the OP deactivated but hope they knew people like me appreciate the beautiful art and the care in trying to merge the two lores (once upon a time I could imagine Tom coming back in a few years and doing the old Loki part of a storyline inspired by all this...but I simply do not trust the writers anymore.)

Doodle of tiny Loki being lonely. (But not as lonely as he feels, as he still has Ikol perched nearby.)
I combined movie!Loki bb with comic!Loki bb.

I regularly tell people that May is the best month to visit Scotland because generally it's one of the driest months, the Scottish/Other UK/Other European schools aren't on summer holiday yet so it isn't overrun and the camper van invasion on the single track roads hasn't got into full swing yet.
Let me tell you, on the weather side of things, this May is embarrassing me so far!

The writers in phase 4 saying things like "I never watched the phase 1 movies or read any of the comics" or "we made up the backstory during filming" sounds like "I didn't study or do my homework so you should be very impressed with this C+ project I've done."

It does possibly sound weird at first. There are even some people (not runners generally) who think giving everyone a medal is a pointless gesture but it's literally a token to say you completed the distance. Ultimately most people are competing against themselves and as highlighted here, it's not necessarily about being last, it's about getting placed in the first place! The person who finishes first isn't going to feel like they didn't finish first just because everyone else gets a mass-produced finisher medal! Which reminds me, when something from a running event goes viral and it's about the slowest runner, I can always tell instantly from the comments who is actually in the community/runs races and who is proudly ignorant (and also definitely a horrible person imo.)
I ran my home half marathon last year and the last runner was posted to social media, I think they clocked in at around 3hrs 25 minutes. Of course this resulted in a lot of praise but sadly sandwiched between the occasional "lol that's sooo slow, what's the point?!"
Alright...you do it then? I am not a fast runner but I am not the slowest. My time last year was just over 2hr 30, which was about what I was aiming for. For a few weeks I was disappointed because I'd missed sub 2.30 but with time I started to feel better and stop beating myself up. I still did it. Being on your feet for that long pounding pavement is hard and the person who finished last was on their feet almost a full hour longer than I was. You bet finishing last is an achievement, it's still finishing!
Apparently there was some kind of race scheduled at a local park or something so I've been trying to avoid the main trail but a little while ago when I had to cross near it I overheard the following shouted exchange
Higher feminine voice: woo, look at you go! You're jogging! Keep it up!
Lower masculine voice (panting): you know it! Last place is still a place, baby!
And goddamn if that didn't rewire my brain a little bit.
Last place is still a place, baby.

Bank Holiday Monday and we decided to take a wee trip to Edinburgh for the day. It rained a bit so we booked to go to Camera Obsecura. Presenting...one of the worst tunnels I've ever walked through. I thought "I've done funhouses, this surely can't be that bad?" Reader, it was bad. I felt like I was constantly tilting to the right. I don't get motion sickness but would not recommend if you do. For some reason though I laughed the whole way through and would definitely do it again. This is basically how I am with rollercoasters. Just in case: STILL IMAGE BELOW BUT STROBE LIGHT/WACKY TUNNEL WARNING!

10/10 - would/wouldn't recommend.

it’s kinda fucked up that you’re only an age for a year. I didn’t know how to be 23 yet, let me try again

I really worried I'd potentially get more heat for my Battle of New York post btw because I was just light heartedly Loki-fan posting and I KNOW that in-universe it caused a lot of destruction and people died, but I just want to thank everyone who noticed that post for proving me wrong and just taking it in the manner I intended. It was basically me doing "Happy Avengers Assembled/Loki Screwed Up Day!"
...this post brought to you by the fact that I'm seeing anyone who says "Magneto was right" in X-Men 97 fanspaces getting lectures about how he just killed a bunch of people with his North Pole stunt. As if people don't know that but are also applying some empathy and recognising why he reacted that way.
After 20+ years of fandom, I just wish people would stop feeling like they need to do the "tutting and shaking my head to make sure everyone knows I agree that this is bad" bit with engaging with fandom. Sigh.

Ah this is reminding me of the time I just had to take a photo of the place where Thor possibly very nearly destroyed his knees even though I'd been there before (when I was a child so very much pre-Dark World!)

We've been rewatching Family Guy, which obviously comes with some parts/episodes that basically make me wince as not all of the jokes on a long-running show necessarily age particularly well. However, we just passed the episode No Country Club For Old Men, which, even though I know it's coming every time, contains this aural jumpscare.
