As Biden introduces ‘new phase’ of vaccine campaign, U.S. infections drop to lowest point in 7 months
America is entering a “new phase” of its coronavirus vaccination strategy, President Biden announced Tuesday — the same day the country’s number of reported infections dropped to its lowest point in seven months.
“The light at the end of the tunnel is actually growing brighter and brighter,” Biden said in afternoon remarks from the White House.
The president said his administration will aim to have administered at least one shot to 70 percent of U.S. adults by July 4. He wants 55 million more people fully vaccinated during that span. The challenge, Biden said, will be continuing to persuade the hesitant.

Are the Bidens giants
On first glance, the photograph seems typical enough. President Biden and first lady Jill Biden kneel beside their predecessors in the White House, Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter, during a trip to Georgia last week.
But look closer at the image — a snapshot of two Democratic leaders with a decades-long alliance — and something appears to be terribly off: Both Bidens tower over the Carters and the rest of the scene, as if they had been transported into a dollhouse. “I’ve been staring at this photo for three hours. I’ve got to go to bed. Back at it tomorrow,” one person wrote on Twitter, seemingly capturing the mood of the Internet. As of Tuesday morning, more than 13,000 people had retweeted one of several posts with some version of that inquiry.

Tom Wilson Gets a Pass...Again
When Tom Wilson crosschecks and punches a defenseless player, then tears the helmet off one of the NHL’s biggest stars before violently throwing him to the ice, he’s filling a part of the job description for which in return he is paid an average of $5,166,166 per season. But he’s also abdicating his responsibilities that he chose to accept when he became a professional hockey player – to himself, the game, his league, his opponents and the fans who look up to him. If you don’t want to accept those responsibilities, that’s fine. Go do something else with your life.
As always, there i s plenty of blame to go around for Wilson’s latest moment in infamy. In some ways, this is not Tom Wilson’s fault. It hasn’t been for a long, long time and, in reality, it never was. Tom Wilson is aided, abetted, encouraged and enabled by a league, a players’ association and a hockey culture. And that is why he does these things. But to give him a pass for his behavior just because the NHL, the Washington Capitals and the NHL Players’ Association have done exactly for years now completely lets Wilson off the hook for egregious behavior that 99.9 percent of his peers in the NHL know is wrong and dangerous. Personal responsibility has to play a role here.

Manchester City Gets One Step Closer to Its Ultimate Purpose
MANCHESTER, England — In those last few minutes, even with the game sealed and a place in the final secure, Manchester City’s staff members and substitutes could not sit still. They pulsed with energy. They roared at every poor challenge. They demanded action from the referee for every transgression. They cheered every completed pass.
As the clock ticked into injury time, they fretted and fidgeted when Paris St.-Germain won a free kick within sight of Éderson’s goal. They cheered when it sailed over. The voice of Mark Sertori, the club’s longstanding masseur, bellowed out across the empty Etihad Stadium. “No chances,” he shouted. There were no more than 30 seconds left, and P.S.G. needed to score three times.

Nursing Programs Adapt
At Southern New Hampshire University, nursing programs have delivered teaching online but our work necessitated major changes in several aspects due to the pandemic. The plans for a continuing education event shifted from a synchronous, in-person event to a virtual online conference. This required multiple hours of planning to accommodate speakers, technology, practice sessions, and participants within a new forum. Graduate nursing education capstone experiences have an expanded virtual opportunity to engage with educators, interprofessional peers, and employers to create innovative and meaningful learning. The Higher Education and Real World Training (HEaRT) experiences provide value for relevant learning while maintaining safety. Undergraduate clinical practice experiences offered some accommodations to demonstrate skills while learners maintained isolation or minimized exposure during the pandemic. These efforts were implemented by our nursing faculty and clinical support staff who worked diligently to ensure students’ needs were met. SNHU nurse educators were part of the solution and deserve acknowledgment during Nurses Week.

Nurses Week 2021: Reflections on the Past Year
I’m a Nurse – What’s Your Superpower? I have this saying printed on a wooden sign sitting on the windowsill in my home office. I purchased it at a gift shop in a large Boston medical center nearly two years ago as I was ambling through the store passing the time while anxiously awaiting word of a family member’s condition after major surgery. I kept that sign in my workspace until last March when we shifted abruptly from onsite to remote employment due to the COVID-19 virus. I packed up my personal belongings and began what I thought would be a short-term stint working from home. Little did I know that the coronavirus disease would become a worldwide pandemic impacting our lives in so many ways and making this sign such a powerful representation of the nursing profession.

Ethereum at $5,000? One financial advisor CEO says it could happen this week
Ethereum continued its record run Monday, once again hitting an all-time high of $3,204, but the CEO of one financial advisory firm says he believes the crypto will top $5,000 within the next week.Ether is one of the main beneficiaries in the wider explosion in the cryptocurrency market,” he said. “The boom over recent months has been fueled by soaring interest from major institutional investors and growing recognition that borderless digital currencies are the future of money. This momentum is likely to build further in the near-term and I believe Ether will hit $5,000 within seven days.”Ethereum, the world’s second largest cryptocurrency, is up more than 321% year to date, compared to a 98% increase in the price of Bitcoin, but it hasn’t captured quite the same zeitgeist among investors. The supply of Ethereum has also been dropping amid increased demand and businesses have been investing in startups that revolve around Ethereum, including such big names as Mastercard, UBS, and JPMorgan. A $1,000 investment in Ether in 2015 would be worth over $4.7 million today.

Dogecoin Now Valued Higher than Twitter and Ford
Dogecoin being valued higher than a traditional commodity-based company like Ford or just lower than one like Newmont Corporation continues the longstanding paradox that faces traditional investors with cryptocurrencies holding no physical value.
The market cap is a noteworthy success considering it was only released seven years ago on Dec. 6, 2013, while Twitter and Ford were established in 2006 and 1903 respectively, Dogecoin’s growth accelerated in 2021 after the likes of Elon Musk and renowned businessman Mark Cuban put their weight behind the coin on social media. Musk turned to Twitter for skit ideas. One fan asked if he will be incorporating his title, and the DogeFather responded “Definitely.” Some traders believe that the exposure could lead to Dogecoin picking up even more momentum.

Bet $10, Win $100 on the Lakers to Score 1+ Point at FOX Bet
This offer is exclusive to new users who sign up with FOX Bet and make a first-time deposit of at least $10. Under normal circumstances, the odds on the Lakers to score a single point would be listed at -10000. That means it would take a $10,000 wager to win $100.
However, with this promo, a $10 bet wins $100 and we think it’s safe to assume the Lakers will score. There are no shutouts in the NBA.Nuggets fans, feel free to bite the bullet and place a wager on FOX Bet against your team on Monday night. Sure, it might feel odd betting against your team, but it’s tough to pass up on this insane offer. The Lakers average 109.7 points per game and should have no problem putting the ball in the basket against the Nuggets. Denver allows over 110 points per game. And again, there are no shutouts in the NBA so this is a complete no-brainer. Don’t feel bad about betting against the Nuggets because once the Lakers score one basket, you can go back to rooting for your hometown Denver Nuggets.

Police, other civil servants donate to Kyle Rittenhouse defense fund
First responders and other government employees have donated money to support homicide suspect Kyle Rittenhouse, according to data leaked from a Christian crowdfunding website.
Rittenhouse, who fatally shot two men during protests against the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin, has become a cause célèbre among conservative activists who believe the teen was within his rights to open fire in self-defense on Aug. 25. Rittenhouse, 18, was 17 at the time of the shooting.
MyPillow Inc. founder Mike Lindell and former "Silver Spoons" child actor Ricky Schroder played key roles in "putting us over the top" in coming up with $2 million for bail in November, Rittenhouse's defense attorney, Lin Wood, said at the time.

Disneyland reservation system opens, with long wait times online
With Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park set to reopen on April 30 after a yearlong closure, the reservation system to enter the parks opened at 8 a.m. Thursday — with long wait times online.
Because the state is requiring theme parks that reopen to limit capacity, the Anaheim theme park is requiring all guests ages 3 and older to make a reservation to enter, in addition to having a ticket.
To book a visit time, guests will need to make a Disney account online here.
By 8:10 a.m., the page was displaying a message that due to high demand, the visitor should remain on the page and is “in a waiting room.”
After that short wait, guests can sign up for an account and log in to the site, where they will see the options to “make a reservation” and “select tickets.” Both options prompt the guest to wait for more than an hour due to high demand, but many reported the wait lasting several hours more.
Around 11 a.m., many people were seeing a “recalculating” message after joining the virtual queue.
