I feel defeated. For the first time, no matter what I do, I can't fix TS2.
A few months ago, my husband upgraded our computer, essentially built almost a new one. New CPU and GPU, that sort of thing. I don't remember the exact reason, maybe it had something to do with the new GPU, but regardless, we had to install Windows 11. That meant reinstalling TS2. I knew it was going to break everything, but I hoped I'd be able to figure it out. He really wanted to build the PC of his dreams, and I couldn't say no just because I wanted to play some ancient game.
So, I installed the UC version by Osab, with all the fixes - Graphic Rules Maker, 4GB patch, etc. The game launches, I can load a neighborhood, a family, and even press play. It looks and works fine for about three seconds, and then it just crashes. This happens in any neighborhood, even with the Downloads folder completely removed. There are no clues, the log doesn't say anything useful, and google searches aren't helping at all. For the first time, I really can't fix my game. I've been lucky so far and never had serious crashing problems with TS2.
The weirdest part is that it loads and works for a short while, almost like it's trying to load some modules after the game has already started, but then fails.
Installing a different version is the only thing I haven't tried yet. But it takes so long, only to end up disappointed when it crashes again...

I tried playing TS2 today, for the first time in months, and the game hates me. At first it was all pink soup right from the start. After I tweaked graphic rules and restarted, the game just crashes randomly.
I haven't changed or downloaded anything in ages. I don't know what it wants from me and currently I don't have the energy to deal with this.
I guess this means no sims 2 content (both gameplay and cc) for the foreseeable future :(
