The thing that really gets to my heart about how Laios’s autism is portrayed in his conflict with Toshiro is that his pain is centered and sympathized with.
How many dozens, hundreds of stories have we gotten about that obnoxious side character who just won’t take the hint and get lost, plaguing the main character who is never up front about their actual feelings but we’re supposed to relate to? How it’s played for humor half the time, a lighthearted burden on the main to make them roll their eyes before the Big Challenges of their story, with no thought to the pain and loss of the side character investing so much emotion into caring for someone who finds them a nuisance?
I think it’s even more poignant that Ryoko Kui is writing from a Japanese perspective that puts Toshido’s approach even more in the default, culturally enforced norm, but still asks “what about the feelings of the person who doesn’t have that all-important knack for ‘reading the room’ and picking up on all those invisible messages never said aloud?” and encourages us to care

idgaf if bethesda ever tells us concretely which country launched the first nuke, the only answer i will accept is the original one, the one that said "we wont tell you, because it doesnt matter. there is no moral highground in the story of the great war, and the end result for those alive today is all the same either way. those most responsible faced the fewest consequences, and no justice was served. there is no justifiable way to nuke anyone, no matter who struck first. everyone lost and thats the very nature of war and always has been. war is evil, and in that way, war never changes"
not broadcasting who was "really to blame" is purposeful, and any other answer would undercut fallout's core identity to me

Interesting research shows that Millennials in the UK and US are bucking the trend when it comes to growing more conservative with age.

Laios does not come across as a badass and it makes it 1000x times cooler when he reminds you how goddamn competent he is.
He's just so grounded and treats his job as so mundane, like of course he's concerned with having everyone fed and rested. Of course he thinks about the terrain, how solid his footing will be, how much space they have to move around eachother. There is not a single monster in this dungeon that Laios doesn't take seriously and believe could kill him if he slips up.

Congratulations to Marcille DungeonMeshi for achieving Pathetic Little Man status on tumblr, a hard glass ceiling for many female characters to break. I look forward to calling you my sopping wet beast and poor little meow meow for fandom days to come. Keep trucking babygirl, you'll bag Falin one day

Teach the children. We don't matter so much, but the children do. Show them daisies and the pale hepatica. Teach them the taste of sassafras and wintergreen. The lives of the blue sailors, mallow, sunbursts, the moccasin flowers. And the frisky ones – inkberry, lamb's-quarters, blueberries. And the aromatic ones – rosemary, oregano. Give them peppermint to put in their pockets as they go to school. Give them the fields and the woods and the possibility of the world salvaged from the lords of profit. Stand them in the stream, head them upstream, rejoice as they learn to love this space they live in, its sticks and leaves and then the silent, beautiful blossoms. Attention is the beginning of devotion.
