🇮🇳🤝🇦🇲 AICWA Welcomes Armenia’s Cultural Outreach, Pledges to Strengthen Indo-Armenian Cinematic Ties
Mumbai: The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA), under the leadership of President Er. Suresh Shyamlal Gupta, has officially acknowledged and welcomed the proposal received from the Armenia-India Business Council (AIBC) for enhanced cultural and cinematic collaboration between India and Armenia.
In a formal letter, AIBC extended heartfelt solidarity with India in the aftermath of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, expressing condolences for the loss of innocent lives and reaffirming their commitment to Indo-Indian friendship and global peace.
In response, AICWA expressed deep gratitude and shared its vision of using cinema as a tool for international cultural diplomacy and unity. The letter also highlighted Armenia’s growing interest in becoming a preferred film destination for Indian productions, citing its:
•Stable and secure environment
•Breathtaking natural landscapes
•Professional film infrastructure
•35% cash rebate for foreign film projects
AICWA affirmed its intent to present this proposal to the following dignitaries and stakeholders:
✅ Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi
✅ Hon’ble Minister of Information & Broadcasting, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw
✅ Hon’ble Minister of Culture, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat
✅ Leading film producers, OTT platforms, channels, music labels & film studios across India
“In a world where politics often divides, cinema has the power to unite. AICWA believes that Indo-Armenian collaboration in storytelling, filmmaking, and cultural events can build a bridge of peace, respect, and mutual growth,” said Er. Suresh Shyamlal Gupta, President of AICWA.
The association welcomed Armenia’s respectful approach, non-political hospitality, and genuine interest in hosting Indian cinema, calling it a sign of deepening people-to-people ties.
This initiative marks a significant step in India’s expanding global soft power, as AICWA continues to promote not only the welfare of Indian cine workers but also India’s cultural presence on the world stage.

AICWA President Suresh Shyamlal Gupta Meets Maharashtra Labour Minister Shri Akash Fundkar, Raises Alarming Issues of Exploitation in the Film Industry
President of the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA), Suresh Shyamlal Gupta, met with the Honourable Labour Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Akash Fundkar, and strongly raised the grave concerns of lakhs of film industry workers, technicians, junior artists, and performing artists—across Bollywood, Marathi cinema, and regional industries.
Mr. Gupta highlighted that since 2021, exploitation of cine workers has reached an unbearable level. Several government labour officers and Film City authorities have allegedly colluded with producers, production houses, and TV channels to suppress and abuse workers on a massive scale.
“The officers who are supposed to protect workers have blindfolded themselves. Film City has turned into a slaughterhouse for labour rights. Workers are crying out loud, bleeding in silence — but no one is listening,” said Gupta.
AICWA firmly demanded that the Labour Minister immediately call for an official meeting on film industry labour issues, to which Shri Akash Fundkar agreed and assured that directives have already been issued to organize the meeting.
Mr. Gupta further informed the Minister that Union’s members are being stopped from entering film shooting sets, allowing producers, production houses, and channels to exploit workers openly and fearlessly—in broad daylight—without any accountability. This is happening with the full support of corrupt labour officers and Film City administrators, who are siding with the powerful and ignoring the cries of the helpless.
“Labour laws are being butchered every day on film sets. If the government fails to act now, the situation will explode,” warned Gupta.
AICWA has made it clear: we will not stay silent. The time for action is now, and the Labour Ministry must take responsibility for what is happening under its watch.

Media Release
All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) Strongly Condemns Anti-India Statements by Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan
Mumbai, India – The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) strongly condemns the anti-India statements made by Pakistani actress Mahira Khan and actor Fawad Khan, who have openly criticized India and questioned the nation’s actions in defense of its sovereignty. Mahira Khan labeled India’s military response as a “Seriously Cowardly” act, while Fawad Khan, instead of condemning terrorism, focused on criticizing India’s stance and supporting divisive narratives.
These statements are not just disrespectful to our nation but also an insult to the countless innocent lives lost due to terrorism and the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for our country. AICWA reaffirms its strict and complete ban on Pakistani artists, filmmakers, and financiers working in India. No Indian artist will collaborate with any Pakistani talent, nor will any global platform be shared with them.
Stop Supporting Pakistani Artists – A Call to Indian Artists
While Pakistani artists openly chant “Pakistan Zindabad” and stand firmly with their country, it is time for the Indian film industry to understand that blindly supporting these artists under the pretext of “art” is a betrayal of national pride. Some individuals in our industry continue to show sympathy and support for Pakistani artists, ignoring the sentiments of our nation.
AICWA urges these individuals to stop supporting those who openly disrespect India. This is not just about art—it is about standing with your country during critical moments. Our nation must come first.
Music Companies and Artists Must Take Responsibility
It is unfortunate that several Indian music companies continue to promote Pakistani artists, giving them frequent work and exposure. Many Indian singers also share stages with these artists globally, ignoring the sentiments of the nation. AICWA calls upon these companies and individuals to stop supporting Pakistani talent and to stand with the nation.
Abir Gulal Movie – A Shameful Example
AICWA strongly condemns the filmmakers, producers, and artists of the film “Abir Gulal” for casting Pakistani actor Fawad Khan despite the Pulwama attack, where several Indian soldiers were martyred. What message do such filmmakers want to convey? They even came to India to release this film, showing complete disregard for the nation’s sentiments. This is a disgrace to the sacrifices made by our brave soldiers.
A Call to the Indian Film Industry
AICWA urges all stakeholders in the Indian film industry, including Bollywood and regional industries, to respect this ban and prioritize national interest over any so-called “artistic collaborations.” Indian artists and filmmakers must decide whether they will stand with their nation or continue to engage with those who openly oppose it.
Those who insult our nation under the pretext of freedom of speech should not be given the privilege of working in our industry. AICWA stands firmly with the nation, upholding the principle of “Nation First.”
