Daylight Firing Outside Kapil Sharma’s Kap’s Cafe in Canada – AICWA Appeals for Immediate Action
It is deeply alarming that broad daylight firing has taken place outside Indian comedian Kapil Sharma’s Kap’s Cafe in Canada. The Government of India must take immediate cognizance of this serious matter and stand firmly with Kapil Sharma. A diplomatic discussion should be initiated with the Prime Minister of Canada to ensure the safety and protection of Kap’s Cafe and Kapil Sharma’s family. The perpetrators involved in this terrorist act must be swiftly arrested and brought to justice.
Kapil Sharma is not just a celebrated comedian but a vital part of the Indian film industry family, admired globally for spreading joy through his art.
The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) strongly urges the Honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi ji, to intervene and ensure that Kapil Sharma and his establishment in Canada are safeguarded against such threats.
The safety of Indian artists abroad is a matter of national concern, and no act of terrorism against any Indian citizen should be tolerated.

🎬 SAVE FILMISTAN STUDIO – A CRY FOR HERITAGE & LIVELIHOOD!
🚨All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) strongly opposes the shocking sale of the historic Filmistan Studio (spanning 4 acres in Goregaon, Mumbai) to Arkade Developers for ₹183 crores.
⚠️ The developer plans to demolish this legendary studio to build luxury flats and earn over ₹3000 crores, while lakhs of workers – technicians, junior artists, and daily wage earners – will lose their jobs, homes, and dignity.
📢 We DEMAND the Maharashtra Government immediately intervenes, takes back Filmistan Studio from private hands, and acquires it as a public heritage property to protect:
✅ Livelihoods of thousands
✅ A permanent shooting location for producers & channels
✅ Mumbai’s cinematic heritage
Filmistan Studio is not just a piece of land – it’s a symbol of our golden past and a ray of hope for future generations in the film industry. If this studio is destroyed, we are not just losing a building — we are losing our identity, history, and future.
🏛️ The government must buy back Filmistan Studio and protect every remaining studio in Mumbai. Because once they are gone — they’re gone forever.
This is not just about a studio.
This is about an industry.
This is about people.
This is about India’s creative soul.
Stand with us. Speak up. Don’t let our heritage turn into high-rises.

“Urgent Appeal Regarding the Reappearance of Pakistani Artists’ Social Media & Channels in India – AICWA Demands Immediate and Permanent Nationwide Ban.”
Pakistani artists, influencers, and channels reappearing on Indian digital platforms is a grave insult to our Martyrs and a Betrayal to the Nation. Those who earn from Indian soil cannot fund Terrorism against it. Terrorism and entertainment cannot go Hand in Hand.

Heartfelt Tribute 🙏🌹
In Loving Memory of Mrs. Usha Chanana
(Wife of Shri Opender Chanana)
With deep sorrow, we share the passing of Mrs. Usha Chanana, who left for her heavenly abode last night. She was not only the beloved wife of Shri Opender Chanana — a respected name in the Indian film industry — but also a remarkable personality in her own right.
Mrs. Usha Chanana served as the Administrative Secretary of the Indian Film Association for an unmatched 28 years. Her tireless efforts and unwavering dedication towards the rights, welfare, and dignity of film workers made her a powerful and compassionate voice in the Indian film industry.
She was a true trade unionist who stood by the working class, especially those behind the scenes — the technicians, the laborers, the assistants — whose voices often go unheard.
Her contributions have left an indelible mark on the film fraternity.
Her legacy will live on in the hearts of thousands of film workers whose lives she touched.
May her soul attain eternal peace.
Om Shanti 🙏
ॐ शांति 🙏

AICWA President Suresh Shyamlal Gupta Meets Maharashtra Labour Minister Shri Akash Fundkar, Raises Alarming Issues of Exploitation in the Film Industry
President of the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA), Suresh Shyamlal Gupta, met with the Honourable Labour Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Akash Fundkar, and strongly raised the grave concerns of lakhs of film industry workers, technicians, junior artists, and performing artists—across Bollywood, Marathi cinema, and regional industries.
Mr. Gupta highlighted that since 2021, exploitation of cine workers has reached an unbearable level. Several government labour officers and Film City authorities have allegedly colluded with producers, production houses, and TV channels to suppress and abuse workers on a massive scale.
“The officers who are supposed to protect workers have blindfolded themselves. Film City has turned into a slaughterhouse for labour rights. Workers are crying out loud, bleeding in silence — but no one is listening,” said Gupta.
AICWA firmly demanded that the Labour Minister immediately call for an official meeting on film industry labour issues, to which Shri Akash Fundkar agreed and assured that directives have already been issued to organize the meeting.
Mr. Gupta further informed the Minister that Union’s members are being stopped from entering film shooting sets, allowing producers, production houses, and channels to exploit workers openly and fearlessly—in broad daylight—without any accountability. This is happening with the full support of corrupt labour officers and Film City administrators, who are siding with the powerful and ignoring the cries of the helpless.
“Labour laws are being butchered every day on film sets. If the government fails to act now, the situation will explode,” warned Gupta.
AICWA has made it clear: we will not stay silent. The time for action is now, and the Labour Ministry must take responsibility for what is happening under its watch.
