Power Paragraph
In the play Julius Caesar, there is a constant power struggle that leads to countless mistakes that could have been avoided. Throughout the story, confused arrogance leads important characters to do things that worsen the situation. "And this man is now become a god, and Cassius is a wretched creature and must bend his body." (Shakespeare, 1.2.122-124) In this scene, Cassius is trying to convince Brutus that he is more honorable than Caesar, and that Cassius saved the God Caesar several times. "His speech tending to Caesar's glories, which Mark Antony (By our permission) is allowed to make" (Shakespeare, 3.2.63-64) Mark Antony's friend had just been murdered by conspirators, and they leave him with a confused rabble, but only by their permission. They have no idea that Mark Antony will turn their anger towards the conspirators. In this play, people whom have the right intentions get killed, because other people are influenced by power.

Happiness Sonnet
Happiness
Happiness is staying positive when the skies are grey Even though my surroundings ill use me Happiness will help you get through the day This emotion helps to soothe me
It’s a key factor in feeling joy People just want to have fun Like Christmas morning, getting a new toy People want to have fun under the rising sun
Happiness is not a token People love and is is crafted Nor happiness cannot be spoken People are joyous when happiness is drafted
Happimess helps people get through tough times, some embrace it, and others despise it.

I am Fourteen and...
I am fourteen And my brain has deceived me The siblings I have come to love Still speak their thoughts In public Why is my hair the way it is Always full of dandruff What if nobody can see me Tomorrow at school But society spits and chews Countless victims thoughts
I must learn how to swim Before the season starts My house is smaller than my friend's Suppose I get lost during the night And nobody will be able to find me But maybe They will miss me There are so many things I want to tell them And too badly But society spits and chews Countless victims thoughts
Nobody cares to listen To my stories I should have been on varsity I swim faster than he does Why do I have to be the one That guy The outsider I have no shorts to wear tomorrow Will I grow tall enough And society spits and chews Countless victims thoughts

The owner, Ally, is a kind old lady who has owned the store for fourth years. Ally's is the only store in ten miles that sells Billies Cereal. There were originally five stores that sold The same cereal, but the greedy businessmen closed them because they could not pay rent. Billy was sad, because these stored were two miles closer to Billy's farm. Later that day, billy was far eating the apples with his new invention. The apple collector 5000. This device shakes the tree, and there is a vacuum that sucks up the falling apples. What Billy didn't know, was that the greedy businessmen had spy's who were taking photos of Billy's invention so they could make millions!!! Once Billy had finished harvesting the apples, Billy had his delicious corn flake cereal for diner. Billy never sold his crops for an outrageous price, he always sold his crop so people who didn't make as much money could buy his apples. A week later, the businessmen had their completed model. Except, it was bigger and better. Unlike Billy, the businessmen patented the design and had complete legal rights over it. They knew Billy would not complain or tell the sherif. On that Tuesday, the businessmen pulled up on Billy's estate in black limousines. They showed Billy the patent #30145 that stated that the businessmen had complete ownership of the design and that any profit from the design shall be given to the owner of the design. Billy lost his house, his design, his farm, and his animals. Billy left Arkansas to find refuge at his mothers in Alabama. Julius Caesar Homework
Mark Antony's main point in the reading is to convince Brutus and the conspirators not to kill him. Although, the conspirators do not kill Antony, because they want to show him that Caesars death will have a positive impact on Rome. Antony did not feel any sorrow for Caesar. He was making it a noticeable point that he wanted to be allied with the conspirators so that he stays alive. An example of inverted syntax in the readings is, "Friends I am with you all and I love you all.” Mark Antony is trying to say that he loves all of the conspirators, and is trying to convince them to ally him because the conspirators will kill Mark Antony. An example of a metaphor in the reading was “ How like a deer stricken by many princes dost thou here lie!" Mark Antony is comparing the dead dictator, Caesar, as a deer, and the conspirators as noble princes. I found multiple examples of archaic diction in the readings, like thou, Dost, and thy. Thou meaning your, doth meaning does, and thy meaning you. An example of a parenthetical phrase in the reading is,“ As fire drives out fire, so pity pity.” This is a parenthetical phrase, because it was in parenthesis, and it had no real meaning to the passage of it were taken out.

Transations of Lines 253-333
An inverted syntax I found at the beginning of the reading was “ I should not need, if you were gentle Brutus ” I think this is inverted syntax because the sentence would sound better if it were framed as if you were gentle Brutus, I would not be doing this. a metaphor in this reading is “ you are my true and honorable wife, vas dear to me as are the ruddy drops that visit my sad heart.” This is a metaphor because obviously, Portia is not made up of Brutus’ tears. A Parenthetical phrase in the readings is “And too impatiently stamped your foot” this is a parenthetical phrase because before this line, Portia said that brutus was being stubborn. This line isn’t needed to understand the next line and it can easily be taken. Some archaic diction I found in the readings, was hath meaning has and render meaning find. A pun I found in the reading was, “being so fathered and so husbanded” this is a pun because one can be a father of a child and not a husband to a wife. But in most cases, Husbands are often fathers of children.

Caesar Translation 320-334
A pun in lines 320-334 is “"Thy honorable mettle may be wrought” this is a pun, because mettle means spirit, but is similar to the word metal, which is a solid substance. #1 Cassius is saying that he will shape Brutus’s spirit like shaping metal. This is one of cassius’s messages to Brutus. From lines 327-330, another message of Cassius appears. #2 He says he will throw writings from citizens through brutus’s window in the night so that Brutus will believe he is great. Cassius is playing a game much like Mark Anthony. An example of inverted syntax in these lines is “I will this night” is inverted syntax, because if it was translated to English we use today would be tonight I will. An example of archaic diction is thou art. Thou art means you are. A metaphor in this reading is “For we will shake him, or worse days endure” metaphor is saying that Cassius will have Brutus show the people that Caesar is nothing of a God.

#2 400 words
I started skateboarding when I was five years old. So I've been skateboarding for a solid nine years. The skatepark I usually go to is three minutes away from my house, which is convenient, because my parents don't drive me anywhere. My surfing has really helped with skateboarding, because foot placements and the balance shifts are quite similar. But instead of landing on cushy water, you land on an unforgiving slab of pavement. Sometimes the smallest pebble, or the slightest clip up can send you flying multiple feet, slamming your body so hard it leaves permanent damage. I have had a couple of really bad whipe-outs skateboarding, I broke my collar bone airing a five foot hip when I was eleven, and when I was thirteen, I chipped my elbow transferring a spine. If you become comfortable with certain runs, you can develop tricks that flow well. My favorite trick at the moment is a frontside smith, it took me a month to master, but it is such a smooth and flowing trick that looks awesome. I think airing tricks are pretty difficult, because you have the constant threat of your front or back trucks clipping of the copping. Being able to skateboard well has opened a lot of windows for me. A few summers ago I went to a place called Woodward West. Honestly, Woodward is like a skateboarders heaven. You wake up at seven, and skate until ten thirty. The parks there are so smooth it gives me butterflies just thinking about it. I plan on going back this year, but I need to raise enough money. Skateboarding has been awesome so far, some tricks are super similar to surfing, like carving the bowl or just grinding on the coping. Skateboarding has treated me wel.. I haven't had any serious injuries, but injuries are just mistakes that you learn from.

Surfing 400 Words
Olivier Saint-Cyr Roland Nipps English, Period 1 15 March 2015 Surfing Kailua When I started to surf, it opened a new world for me. It helped me to escape reality and reflect on things that have been going on. Whenever I want to surf, I bike to the beach. Since the beach is only two and a half miles away, I have a fifteen minute bike ride. Surfing is a lonely art in Kailua, there are only a few small groups of kids that are the local beach bums. I often find that during vacations and breaks, that the swell really rises, but with the rising tide brings fish, brings sharks. Sharks are everywhere in Kailua bay. I have personally seen a few sharks in my favorite spot. Green Walls. Green walls is easily the best surf spot in Kailua, it is close to the military base, but the sets are endless. The waves are like an untamed beast, it shoots a nasty close-out and is a fast wave. Some winter and summer swells live up to the waves name. The biggest it has been was solid five foot sets, and trust me, a fast wave that barrels immediately, is a scary sight at first. But a wave like this must have perfect conditions that all align at the same time. If the winds are too strong, the wave is big, but blown out. If the wind is flowing the right direction and there is a trade wind swell, all of the bay is peeling. Being a beach break, you don't have to worry about falling on a jagged reef or breaking your board. But, I was one of the unfortunate few who break their favorite boards during a great swell. It was heart breaking for me to break my yellow 5'4" short board, because the swell was at its peak and was the best Green walls has been for about a year. Every time a swell comes into the bay, people always ask, "Is it going to be one that everyone remembers?". I remember from a few summers ago, on of the best swells came to Kailua, the Mokalua Islands were packed with thirty to fourth or so people. And much like the north shores Sunset beach, the waves held people under for multiple seconds. I think the scariest thing about surfing is knowing that a six or seven foot face is going to land right on top of you, and not being to do anything.

Olivier Saint-Cyr Roland Nipps English Pd. 1 3 March 2015 Why does Greek Architecture Matter in 2015? Greek architecture in some ways influenced a major part of modern architecture. Take the aqueducts for example, they showed hydraulic principles and siphons. This can be very similarly related to modern day plumbing, because plumbing brings water to houses, buildings, cities, towns and communities. In Hawaii, water tanks collect water and the size creates pressure so that it is able to pump, then it flows to a water purification system were the water is distributed throughout underground pipes. The ability to have water means life or death. Another marvelous Greek design, was the green temples. The engineers ability to move heavy marble slabs was impeccable and It showed ingenious engineering because the marble blocks they transpired weighed tons of pounds or more. Many banks, museums, and political buildings have a similar pillar shape much like Greek temples. The pillars gave support for the buildings so that they would not collapse. In Greece, these temples and aqueducts are still standing, but, some are falling apart due to thousands of years of aging. Greek architecture has had a major influence on modern day buildings in the United States. Many political buildings in Washington DC have similar pillars, like the Lincoln memorial. The U.S. Capitol building has similar pillars surrounding its structure. The U.S. Whitehouse has six distinct pillars at the center of the building, much like the Greeks. Even though modernization does not reflect Greek architecture, major buildings and infrastructure is based on Greek design.
